Panic Button is a built-in privacy tool in Opera GX that lets you instantly switch your screen to a safe, non-suspicious website with a single key press. Whether you're gaming, watching videos, or deep in a meme spiral, Panic Button ensures nosy roommates, parents, or unexpected visitors never catch you off guard.

How do I activate Panic Button?

To activate Panic Button, simply press F12, and your screen will immediately switch to a pre-set safe site. You can customize this escape page in the GX browser’s Settings (Alt+P), choosing anything from Wikipedia to an innocent work-related tab. To return to your original session, press F12 again when the coast is clear.

In Opera GX, pressing F12 triggers Panic Button, instantly covering your screen with a safe, non-suspicious webpage. It's the ultimate stealth feature, helping you avoid awkward situations with a single keystroke. Whether it's a boss, a teacher, or a curious parent, GX’s Panic Button has your back.

Another great feature for protecting your privacy is Fake My History. After 14 days of inactivity, your history will be automatically replaced with wholesome searches. Just open your GX history (Ctrl+H) and click Redeem my soul to activate the feature.
