I’m happy to announce the latest Opera for Android, which allows you to sync bookmarks across your phone, computer or tablet. Bookmark synchronization is available on Opera for computers, Opera Mini for iOS and Opera for Android.

How to sync

Syncing your bookmarks is easy with Opera. Just log in using your existing Opera account (or create one). Your bookmarks will start syncing instantly across your devices. It’s super handy for when you need to access your favorite sites while on the go and provides a seamless web experience, no matter which device  you’re using.

Other updates

Along with bookmark synchronization, the latest Opera for Android sports a refreshed icon, an under-the-hood Chromium update to 41 and a list of bug fixes.

Let us know what you think!

This is the real Opera, not the PC version.

  • Piotr Karol Żółtowski

And still you didn’t fixed your compression technology, idiots -.-

    • Andreas Bovens

Let’s keep it friendly here, yes?
What’s the issue with the compression?

      • Piotr Karol Żółtowski

Sorry, but this bug, which I will describe is annoying me so much.

The problem is I have LG Optimus L7 II with Android 4.4.2 KitKat updated by app for LG smartphones. All pages I visit in Opera for Android with enabled compression is displaying like I was using Opera Mini for Android. I reported this bug two times and still it’s not fixed. I’m not sure how is in other low-end smartphones like mine.

        • Andreas Bovens

This is not a bug, it’s the expected behavior of off-road mode. When off-road is turned on, your pages are requested through and compressed by the Opera Mini servers.

          • Piotr Karol Żółtowski

Are you serious? This is OPERA FOR ANDROID not OPERA MINI FOR ANDROID. Secondly, Opera beta for Android is enabling compression while launching browser for the first time (reinstall or first install) and all pages in Opera beta for Android is displaying normally, but that sites are compressed. Also some options in Opera beta for Android aren’t “blocked” while compression is enabled as opposed to Opera stable for Android. Please fix this or I will denounce you 🙂

          • Piotr Karol Żółtowski

Almost two weeks and no answer from you or information that it’s fixed, but I need to wait to get informed about update of Opera stable for Android in Google Play Store. No solid counterarguments, huh? 🙂

Hmm, you finally add back the bookmark sync but remove android 4 support so it’s useless to me now. Bit of a shame. I Guess that defeats the purpose of keeping Opera for pc as well.

  • Rj Navendu Kumar

yes they have removed book mark sycronistation for android version 4.0 and what is the scene for opera mini for Symbian will it work on opera link pl clarify whether we would be able to use opera link same way with our old browser or we need to think over pl clarify?

I signed up into my account on both my devices (android smartphone and tablet). My bookmarks appeared successfully on both devices but Speed Dial on smartphone didn’t appear on tablet. Is it a feature or a bug? I expected it to be the same Speed Dial on both my devices.

    • Andreas Bovens

At present, we’re only syncing bookmarks. Speed Dial items are not synced for now.

How come you don’t talk more about your “Texture compression” implementation?

Looking at your upstream log and your talks at Blinkon, I’m fairly sure you are a big part of this.

This version of Opera Mobile is considerably faster: Less delay when scrolling (Yes, delay, not lag).
The use and feel of scrolling is closing in on Opera Classic now, that’s nice to see.

Is this part of the texture compression or the Chromium update?

  • BS-Harou

Congrats on sync! Great job. Now, how about an option to replace “Go to speeddial” button with Refresh button. 🙂 The refresh button in addressbar is smallish and hard to hit.

  • You need full screen and better page cache!

I was using Opera Link on my mobile through Opera Mini. My bookmarks were stored in the cloud and, when I changed my phone, everything synched on the new Opera Mini installation. The problem is that I moved on to Opera for Android, and now I am not able to see my bookmarks on the new navigator. Is there something I am missing?

  • F. S.

Remember that when you click on the sync option on a device that had not the sync already, it shows a page saying that my bookmarks are safe? And that I can see my Opera 12 bookmarks there? So… Where are them when I sync? Where are my bookmarks that I collected through year of using Opera 10~12? It syncs just bookmarks from opera 28 to 28…

  • Karoly Szijjarto

I can sync my bookmarks on Opera Mobile Classic, Opera Mini but not on Opera Android. It shows at the setting menu that I’m logged in but the bookmark folder stays empty.
