Hello,

Today, unlike our previous initial O35 release, in this very first O36 cycle release, we are releasing… Opera, 36 version 🙂

Many of you felt that the previous, final O34 blogpost was missing feature details, so we want to jump straight to these details for O36. In the Opera 36 cycle, we are working on the following feature improvements:

  • Speed Dial – Soon you should be able to see a refreshed, more elegant and easier-to-use solution. You can already find a flag (opera://flags/?search=navi#web-ui-navigation-sidepanel) to put the navigation bar to the left side. Enhanced design and on/off switches for components are also on the way. That ugly, white-blinking effect when switching to bookmarks manager is known, and we are working on a fix now.
  • News – This feature should be personalized, super fast to use and customizable. Our work here is continuation of a longer process devoted to enhancements. For the next version, we’re also looking  into supporting RSS feeds via News.
  • Simple, yet powerful UI – On the one hand, we want to simplify the UI, removing, for example, the sync button from the top UI. But, on the other hand, we’d like  to give you more tools and options to adjust your browser according to your preferences. What would you like to see?
  • More extensions on the toolbar – The long-awaited expander should be delivered in this cycle, which is important for those of you who use a lot of extensions.
  • Windows 10 UI improvements – This is something you have already seen in O35 cycle that should now be finalized and delivered to the stable version.
  • Synchronization engine improvements – These should mean you get fewer l server-connection kickouts, improving reliability of the service.
  • A few more stealth projects – More will be revealed about these later.

As usual, we can’t promise that any of these improvements will hit final in O36 – or ever hit stable at all. Nevertheless, significant Speed Dial changes should arrive next week in the upcoming Developer update. For now, we’d really like to hear your feedback, and, as always, we are waiting to get new flag comments from our fans!

Go and explore; then, share your feedback with us.

  • Ralf Brinkmann

Disqus says I’m the first one to post here, but I don’t believe that.

    Hi Błażej!

    • nanana1

Congrats for being the first to welcome Opera 36 Developer release !

      • Ralf Brinkmann

        Oh really?! Wow!

    • Marcin Mitek

      Achievement unlocked!

      • Aneta Reluga

Do we have a badge system?

        • Marcin Mitek

We should contact Valve and let people unlock achievements while browsing in Opera from Steam client…

    • Wando Schneider

It’s really difficult to beat nanana1! Congrats Ralf!

    • Vux777

      next:
for Elder title, you need to announce new builds five times in the row

      • Ralf Brinkmann

        ? I don’t understand waht you mean.

        • Vux777

          nvm
          achievement from (some) MMOs

  • Ralf Brinkmann

This DPI-zoom problem is still in progress, isn’t it?

    • Marcin Mitek

Yup, not fixed yet, work in progress 😐 Tracked as DNA-46211.

      • Aneta Reluga

Exactly, and, for the record, internally it’s DNA-46826

  • Matej Szendi

Can you correct Czech translation for ex Discover feature from “Diskuze” to “Zprávy”?

  • petval

Simple, yet powerful UI – What would you like to see?
With my surfing habits I would love to see multiline tabs. The lack of it is still keeping me on Firefox.

  • Vux777

if only you could unify those pages as overlay on one single,
instead of switching to new every time (SD, Bookmarks, news….)
    annoying blinking

    • BK

News are already combined into main SD page, behind the flag.

      • Vux777

        no, not that
switching between SD, bookmarks news, history… blinks

        • Aneta Reluga

Ahh, I think I guess what you mean. On slower machines, the left menu is getting refreshed every time you switch pages, right?

          • Vux777

            yea,
not just left menu…the whole new tab page blinks when switching (eg from SD to bookmarks)
I turned off HWA because of Side bar…works much smoother
and this is on x3 3.3 Ghz with 6GB of ram

          • Aneta Reluga

Right you are. Thanks, I’ll report it as an improvement.
            (edit: DNA-47150 for the record)

          • SuperTommy

You had that feature when stash was alive. It seamlessly switched between pages. It was pretty neat!

          • Aneta Reluga

Hoping to get it smooth again.

  • Vux777

this build is not for ocd ppl
    add new page to SD

    • Aneta Reluga

I’m sorry, I don’t remember your OS. Could you please remind? (I am unable to reproduce this on Win7 and it looks like an issue which happened some time ago and was already fixed, so I need to look for regressions.)

      • Vux777
      • Vux777

also, new SD tiles make movement when hovered
and resampling, from blurry to sharp, but transition is noticeable

  • L33t4opera

The navigation side panel is a really nice idea, and cool feature, thanks!

I’m sure, that many users will appreciate also the new speed dial tiles – without white background under the labels, the whole SD looks now a way better 😉

    New flags:
    – opera:flags#extension-top-sites-api
Enables the TopSites extension API used for getting most used sites.

    – opera:flags#show-start-page-hints
Enables showing of start page hints popups.

    – opera:flags#web-ui-navigation-sidepanel
Enable the navigation side panel in the WebUIs.

    – #show-hints has been renamed to #show-search-hints.

    • BK

thanks, I’ve been waiting for your flags report !

      • L33t4opera

No problem Błażej, the part about the flags is for some of the users, who can be interested in it, and find it helpful 😉

It would be more handy for me, that you can publish the change log as soon, as the new builds are available on the ftp servers.

        • Ralf Brinkmann

Yes, and add a search item “new” in the flags.

          • SuperTommy

Or, add new flags on top of the list.

          • Nekomajin43

            HUGE +1

          • Leonardo Gomes

Would be interesting. But should it list all new flags or just the ones added by Opera?

          • Ralf Brinkmann

The ones which are new in this version. And I think, they are all added by Opera. By whom else?

          • Leonardo Gomes

There are lots of Chromium flags. Half of them most probably.

          • Ralf Brinkmann

Ok, then I mean all that are new.

        • Leonardo Gomes

Maybe the changelog cvould come with the build and be opened when you first run Opera after the installation/update.

  • Matej Szendi

Can you enable Close tab in context menu for pinned tab? It is really annoying that I must Unpin tab first. There is no problem to close pinned tab in Chrome, Vivaldi or Firefox.

    • BK

      we will evaluate this, thanks.

      • https://vivaldi.net/unity/profile/chas4/6-blog Chas4

Might be a good idea to have it as an option in preference

        • Herr Pietrus

I think that placing it in the RMB menu won’t. Small chance to hit it accidentally. 😛

  • Wando Schneider

    I’m waiting for @Lacedaemon ‘s feedback. 🙂

    • Marcin Mitek

He’s been silent for 2 months. I am worried.

      • SuperTommy

Noticed it as well. I suspected you had used the banhammer. 😉

        • Marcin Mitek

Nope. I am not the only moderator here, but he is not on the list of banned users.

          • SuperTommy

Perhaps he gave up on the black titlebar. He was pretty much the only one pushing the issue every single time!

Edit: Jokes aside, despite being a bit rough around the edges, he was good at finding bugs!

          • Apocalypse

Yes terrible that he criticised devs work :-(.

          • SuperTommy

Difference between constructive criticism and not.

          • Apocalypse

As i remember his criticism was often very constructive, but ok. I have my own view, u have your own. But remember – browser without users will stop be a browser…

          • Marcin Mitek

Most of the time, yes, he was constructive. Had also worse moments too, like everyone of us 🙂

          • Apocalypse

            True.

          • SuperTommy

It will still be a browser, albeit a dead one.

          • Apocalypse

Nope. The Project will be closed im affraid, and all employeers will be fired…

          • SuperTommy

Doesn’t stop it from being a browser.

      • Wando Schneider

        I’m too!

      • Apocalypse

Perhaps he moved to Vivaldi Team blog to make build comments there.

      • Wando Schneider

@marcin_mitek:disqus, Should we make some Missing posters and spread out there?

    • Herr Pietrus

Can I replace him giving a feedback? 😛
      Oh, I know I can!

      Finally SD looks good!

  • hylik

It seems that I can’t type anything in address bar on a private window

    • Marcin Mitek

That’s a known issue (DNA-47124), it happens in maximized window. Should work fine if it’s not maximized… so that’s a workaround for now. Sorry for that :/

  • Ralf Brinkmann

In another blog somebody told me, that you can select all downloaded files in the download manager of Vivaldi with CTRL-A.
CTRL-J – CTRL-A – DELETE: I would be satisfied with something like that in Opera too.

  • http://djdb.me/ DJDB

I want to be able to move extensions icons left or right, hide the start page button on the left of the address bar, disable speed dial (and instead show a blank black page) 🙂

    • LoverOfLife

I want that too, to be able to move/drag extensions icons in custom order (i know that it can be edit in “Preferences”, that’s how i’ve done it, but still, it shoud be like that for a long time ago) To be more flexible, more easy to do things..

      • Davide Repetto

Yep! +1 for moving/dragging buttons and for being able to close all the tabs without having the speed dial pop out. (as it was in opera12)

      • Shakil Shahadat

Thumbs up for moving/dragging extensions icons, I also want the option to hide button on right click menu.

  • mitra-

And what about image/icon customization for Speed Dial? That’s the thing I want more for SD…

    • Leonardo Gomes

You can choose the image used, just use the heart button to add pages to SD.

      • mitra-

Yes, but that are images that Opera found in that page. I mean custom images / logos that you can get from anywhere.

        • Leonardo Gomes

          Ah, i see.

      • BK

Fixing it is in the backlog, we know the way it works now is far from perfect user friendly solution.

      • mitra-

And sometimes Opera can’t find the page logo like FileHippo:

        http://www.filehippo.com

  • RM

I’ve been out of the loop for a while. What is being done to make Opera touch friendly on Windows 10 Tablets?

  • Der Herr Nick

Actually, I think, I’ll like the new sidebar when it’s ready.
But there is a grey blur darkening my SD background image. Even worse, this blur’s opacity is changing all the time so the meant-to-be-static image is flickering. Big dislike!

    • Herr Pietrus

Changing icon’s colour to black will be better, that’s right. But that’s the minor issue.

      • Der Herr Nick

I guess you’re getting me wrong. It’s not the grey sidebar icons but the whole background image. And it’s flickering (about once per second)

        • Herr Pietrus

Oh, I meant that changing the icons colour when you have the bright theme is better than to cover the whole screen with semi-transparent additional layer 🙂

  • Zin

Please, focus on bringing lost opera 12’s features back, this is why you are losing users little by little for these guys:

    http://vivaldi.net/surveys/index.php/statistics_user/action/surveyid/561377/language/en

    • BK

Hi Zin. We are gaining users 🙂
      What have you voted for?

    • SuperTommy

Power users is (unfortunately for some) only a fragment of web users. As you can see from the survey, the real power functions only tops 3% of the votes. Opera already have many of the more popular ones for a long time.

      • BK

We have many, which does not mean we will not support more power user cases 🙂

    • Leonardo Gomes

Let’s keep looking forward instead of keep wanting the past to return.

      • ayespy

I believe it is in error to assume that because something worked well in the past, but was abandoned, that a desire for its return is a look to the “past.” The future can, and should, include that which works well, even if it also worked well five years ago. I spent 30 years developing the optimum work habits and patterns for my business. They work well. They will ALWAYS work well, and will always work better in a single platform that accommodates them, than in a platform requiring me to fragment them over multiple apps, or change to habits which are “better” in the minds of persons who lack my experience, but which in fact are both slower and less holistic.

So the fact that Opera has abandoned something does not make its absence the “future.” It merely makes it inconvenient for Opera. I, personally, will embrace any browser that embraces my work habits, in the business that I am likely to continue to pursue for at least the next ten to twenty years. My membership in a minority of users does not relegate me to the “past.” K? K. It merely means that Opera has made a conscious decision not to serve me.

        • BK

what are the habits we talk about here?

          • ayespy

I’ve explained this in exhaustive detail probably ten or twelve times over the last couple of years on this blog, but given the chance someone might actually be listening this time, and given the (just barely possible) chance that something might come of it, I will do so again.

My preferences are these: 1) everything I need, in order to manage my daily workflow, incorporated into the browser (WITHOUT the need for extensions, so as to minimize process bloat. Tab process bloat is bad enough), usable in a wide format monitor such that I can see all of the elements of my work flow at the same time.

            2) The ability to turn on, turn off, move, maximize or minimize each element of the UI so that what I need to do my work is present and instantly identifiable to me at all times, and things that I don’t need in order to do my work, don’t appear.

            3) The ability to work left to right and back again, repetetively, in the same order that I do my work.

What this translates to is this: My mail client is always at the left edge of the screen, with folder list and message list always visible. If I click on an item in mail, it takes over focus WITHOUT hiding my bookmarks bar or my tabs, which are vertical at the right edge of the screen.

I read an email in order to intake a work assignment, and highlight and copy whatever I need out of that email if I know I am about to paste it into a web form.

I click on a tab or a bookmark at the right edge of the screen and that receives focus, without hiding my mail client. I input whatever values I need to do my work, and I do it, moving between tabs or bookmarks as necessary to complete the task. I may save the work in a text editor, or in a note.

When finished, I click on the email from which I got the assignment, and email gains focus (again, without hiding my web destinations which are still visible at the right edge of the screen), whereupon I reply to the email with the results I have just generated.

Still in email, I move on to the next assignment, probably from a different client or firm, read and copy what I need, move over to the right to go to the appropriate web destination…

            Lather, rinse, repeat.

Opera 12, in which I evolved this work flow, obviously works perfectly for it. Nothing else does. Opera Team have made it clear they have no intention of ever making this same workflow possible in New Opera, because there is not, and never will be, a mail client. I adopted OperaMail as my new default client when it came out, but it is incapable of being made MAPI-compliant, due to the way its installer is written. I begged and pleaded for at LEAST a couple of months for someone to remedy this fact (plus a couple of settings missing from the interface), but instead the freestanding mail client was abandoned from development efforts rather than being finished.

THERE ARE SOME THINGS that Opera could still do, however (given that to this date no browser other than Opera 12 truly integrates a mail client) which would put it back in the position of being the browser in which I can implement my work flow. These are, WITHOUT THE NEED FOR EXTENSIONS, a) make it possible to put tabs vertically on the right, at the same time as removing the horizontal tab bar at the top. In other words, just MOVE the tabs, don’t duplicate them. b) make it possible to place the bookmarks bar vertically on the right. c) make it possible to display the bookmarks bar with favicons only, no labels. d) integrate Notes. e) (less important because I know my bookmarks bar from muscle memory) allow a user to assign a meaningful favicon to a bookmark for a site that has none.

For good or ill, this is the kind of thing I am talking about, and the same kind of thing I have been talking about since Opera 15.

          • BK

Wow, that is long. Thanks. I’ve passed this to our interaction designers.

          • ayespy

Yeah, sorry. But thanks for listening.

        • Leonardo Gomes

I believe it is in error to assume that because something worked well in the past, but was abandoned, that a desire for its return is a look to the “past.” The future can, and should, include that which works well, even if it also worked well five years ago.

I didn’t want to mean it. Of course if something from the past still works and is still useful then it can and should be used today and in the future.

What i tried to mean is that we should always try to aim the future, learning with the mistakes of the past and bringing what is really helpful and beneficial from there.

So, wanting to bring back features just for the sake of bringing them back, without seeing that the world changed, the web changed, people changed and may have new, different needings, without seeing if those features would still be benefic for most users is, imho, just repeat the mistakes of the past.

          • ayespy

There is merit to your idea, understanding that you don’t mean to say that everything new is “progress” and everything old is “obsolete.”

That said, I think it’s clear if you think about it, that a person who says “just bring back all the old Opera 12 features” actually has some specific feature(s) in mind that they desperately wish they could use, right now, today.

So perhaps one way to address such a person would be, instead of “forget about the past,” rather “what specific feature(s) were you thinking of?”

Opera 12 had dozens of features, many of which I never used and never cared about because I never used them, and I’m sure at least some of them are genuinely obsolete.

          • Leonardo Gomes

So perhaps one way to address such a person would be, instead of “forget about the past,” rather “what specific feature(s) were you thinking of?”

Maybe, but what if we saw this from another point of view:

Why, instead of just keep saying “Bring back Opera 12 features”, the person doesn’t say “Hey, i would like to have these features back because i think they would be useful for this and that reasons” ?

    • jedy123

You do realise since the move to Chromium Opera’s user base has increased. The user base with Opera 12 (before the new browser) was a tiny percentage of the overall browser market. Just bringing back Opera 12 features seems a bit counter productive to me. Maybe some could return but Opera are right to focus on brand new features too.

      • Herr Pietrus

Actually, I think that (finally) Opera has many of them now.

OK, I REALLY miss one thing – bookmarks menu on the main bar. I really need that.
But as long as Chrome Extensions and Neater Bookmarks works…

    • Herr Pietrus

If they lose users (I agree that Opera consonantly have about 1-2% market share) – they lose them definitely not because ugly and still unfinished (ok, really promising, but that’s all for now) Vivaldi.

  • Nachiketa Ramesh

Give an option to remove the search bar from speed dial. The top bar already does searches. If you don’t need something persistent in the UI to do searches, you don’t need one in Speed Dial. The rest of the changes are all awesome.

    • Wando Schneider

“Enhanced design and on/off switches for components are also on the way. “

    • SuperTommy

You can remove it in power user settings. Go to settings, enter konami code (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a) and disable it.

Edit: I assume you mean the Google bar, but if you mean the search Speed Dial function on the far right it cannot be removed.

      • hafasd

Why this option is hidden in power user settings?
Why advanced settings is not enough and we need an additional level of concealment through konami code?

        • muratservan

I think Google gives money for that bar. So Opera doesn’t want to make it easier to remove. Even I hate Google, I’m fine with that.

        • Leonardo Gomes

Probably because they don’t want users to easily disable the search bar.

      • L33t4opera

but if you mean the search Speed Dial function on the far right

Hi, it will disappear, if you enable opera:flags#news-on-startpage 😉

        • jedy123

No I mean the Google search. Using Flags and advanced preferences is all very well but I imagine there will be Opera users who wont use these advanced options and probably aren’t ‘power users’.

      • jedy123

I think there needs to be an option to remove the Speed Dial search bar in the main preferences. That’s if Opera want to make this browser user friendly. Power user settings are fine for, er, power users but not everyone would want (or care) to tinker with this hidden set of menus.

      • Nachiketa Ramesh

        Thanks

      • Nachiketa Ramesh

I have another suggestion. Could you perhaps remove the huge top padding that remains when this option is checked? It kinda defeats the purpose of the option in the first place.

  • http://vinczej.blogspot.hu vinczej

My frequent wish is: Option for “Alert on Exit” !

  • xirit64

Ok I’m very jealous now to the point of thinking about switching from Stable to Developer. This new Speed Dial looks superb! Very slick work, gratz guys!

    • LoverOfLife

I already moved to Dev, because of this 🙂

      • xirit64

yeah if not today then tomorrow for sure 🙂 Btw you know if Extensions can be copied over from Stable? The only thing that bothers me about it since I have many.

        • LoverOfLife

With my extensions it worked, all without any problem in my case. I just copied profile from Stable to Developer and everything is fine 😉 Good luck!

          • xirit64

            Thanks bro!

  • Nekomajin43

    OK, let’s see!

First of all, this is how a blog post should look like! No marketing bs, just facts. Thanks!

I like the new speed dial. It’s more clear and elegant. However, I don’t like the resize effect on hover. I think a small opacity change is better. Also, please move the remove button down to the title.

About the sidebar, I love it. But it would be good to have an option to move it to any side of the window. Top and bottom too. And please, make it possible to set other internal pages as default home page. For example, If I use the bookmarks bar, I may find it unnecessary to use the speed dial. But I’d be happy to see the history, the downloads, or my RSS feeds or the whole BM manager.

The RSS reader is a great idea. But if you really want to have a “simple UI”, you have to remove the News from the speed dial. Give it a button on the navbar as it was, and it will be fine.

Now, the toolbar. How about a new, separate “UI” page in the settings? You could move all the existing UI options there, and also could make a new section with the available toolbar buttons, each of them having a checkbox to show or hide. So the user would not be able remove any button accidentally from a context menu.

And finally, how about extending the themes with a few more properties? For example: navbar and thumbnail title bg color and opacity.

    • BK

      Thanks for detailed feedback.

Remove news? How about adding an option for it? 😉

Let’s wait for settings discussion after we present things next week.

      • Nekomajin43

Well, now you are thinking in options? What a change! 😉

        • BK

          hell has frozen over..;)

  • http://windowsmix.eu/ Mészáros Antal

THX! Opera will be good! 🙂

  • Predrag

    RSS! Great! 🙂

  • beBoss

    Cookie editor please 🙂
And when you add a page from heart button into SD it adds it to the top instead of the bottom, how to change that?

    • Leonardo Gomes

      Afaik you can’t change that.

  • Kamen Minkov

When will we have the ability to leave empty speed dial slots? That would be very useful when setting a new installation – for example I may want to have a 5 * 3 layout, but when not all the spots are assigned, all the entries will be crammed in the top left.

    • Nekomajin43

Blank tiles or grid positions would be fine. Like the icons on the desktop.

      • BK

Sorry, due to sync limitation and impact on other platforms this is no go.

        • Kamen Minkov

I’m sure there is a way to keep positions of speed dials at least locally. I don’t mind not being able to sync the arrangement if it can be kept locally since the speed dial is usually different on every installation I use.

        • Fałek

there is always way to bypass limitation. E.g. only local setting or even special address who can be synced and is automatically hidden by Opera in bookmarks.

          • Nekomajin43

There was a time when we were able to do this. It was O11 or 12? I don’t remember. I used about:blank for the address. It was ugly, but it worked. Now something similar should work, but the tiles have to be transparent.

          • Kamen Minkov

This would work, but it’s still an ugly workaround. If I have a large layout, I have to manually create as much blank tiles as I want to move a real one. Even with 3×3 you’d have to create 4 blank tiles if you want to move the second tile to the end of the second row.

        • Nekomajin43

I think it’s very easy to implement. I assume you sync the order of the speed dial items too. Now, in a local file (preferences?) you just have to use an array of 2D coordinates to store empty tiles in the grid. You already sync some preferences, don’t you?

But if you don’t like it, I have an other idea. How about a Windows Phone-like start screen with different size tiles? Four sizes (1×1, 1×2, 2×1, 2×2) would make a huge difference in usability. We would be able to create more sophisticated speed dial extensions. Even News would be able to get it’s own tile. And it would not interfere with sync. All you have to do is to store the layout.

        • Kamen Minkov

What about fixed layout (i.e. one that doesn’t rearrange when I make the window smaller)? Visual memory is key and the top left tile moving to bottom right makes no sense in this line of thought. It’d be nice to have the option for the speed dial to not be rearranged, but just scale down.

  • Kirby green

    RSS!!! yeah!

  • To Ny

RSS ? Great ! I’ll create my very own “News”, with all the websites I use to visit… So cool ! A simpler UX and all the things you said… O36 will be a wonderful release ! :))

    • BK

I might have not been clear – RSS is next to this version, so rather O37. However I expect it will be available in developer around February.

      • Kamen Minkov

Digg integration would be very nice to have. Just saying.

      • To Ny

Well, thanks for the information. I have to be patient… But I have the impression that for a few years, Opera has built the foundations of the new “Blink Opera” and now, we will really see the new features and the things that we love in Opera. Am I right ? 🙂

  • Kirie

Option: Delete bookmarks when synchronization is closed.

    • BK

Ehm? Not sure what do you mean?

  • Vux777

web-ui-navigation-sidepanel looks nice on speed dial
but on other pages not so (bookmarks, history, tabs..)
too many vertical stripes…..+ sidebar buttons area
you should expand that darker area to cover new web-ui-navigation-sidepanel

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/max1cp?feature=mhum Maxim

They are probably going to change how that looks/works later.

    • Stanislav Stratil

Not sure about expanding that draker area. If you are on Speed Dial page, there is no any dark area, and if you cklick on bookmarks, there will be now dark area around it? I dont think it would be nice to watch this weird switch.

But you have a point about too many vertical stripes, it looks weird. They have there some interesting transparency puzzle – how to do that for it to look always good?. 😀
      I feel bad for them.

Edit: If you enable extensions side bar, there are even more vertical stripes. 😀

      • Vux777

but if you click on bookmarks (or history, tabs…), there is already dark area
so only those new web UI buttons are left uncovered (and that looks ugly)
so, if there is already darker area (and I don’t think it will change in design) why not covering that narrow stripe of web UI buttons with it also (actually making it with highest z-index, and just changing layer beneath it).
I would make background image on lowest layer ,
        web UI buttons on highest
and all other content in “New Tab” would be in iFrame between those two (bookmarks, history, news…) with smooth transition
so when switching between them, it would avoid blinking and all other annoyances of loading new page, as it is now
I really like new speed dial design
but the details should be polished (like that stupid resampling of speed dial tiles)
and devs have tendencies to screw good stuff on finish line
like those extra suggestions from address bar. It works great except… it’s useless
at least with this logic of populating tiles
I’m keeping it on for last month or more, but still clicked maybe once or twice on those suggestions
if they were customizable, that would be good job
*pls devs, don’t screw this too…have a nice weekend 😛

    • Herr Pietrus

Definitely on every internal page except the SD dark area (or any other background planned) should be same under the internal page side menu and under the navigation buttons.

I hope that it’s obvious for the devs, that’s only initial release to get feedback.
      I hope so.

Opera have not yet improved fb video loading bug in opera for pc.
when ever i click on a video in fb its open a new kind of window in same tab and videos take a long time to load , twitter video bug is still there , when ever i click on video in twitter it says browser dose not supports the video playbck , and there are many bugs in opera flash player gaming bug , no sound in translation tools……

  • muratservan

Stealth projects? I hope one of these is extension sync.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/max1cp?feature=mhum Maxim

How about custom searches engines sync? Or does it already do that?

      • muratservan

        No it doesn’t.

  • x a

Why TF did you remove CR+LF from Preferences versions ago? It only creates difficulties editing it. (And while we’re at it: why do you – and/or Chromium – mix real preferences data with persistent status data like SPDY-support and such things? It’s a ”private data“ proliferation hell, either.)

    • x a

Disqus doesn’t work no more – even with 3rd parties enabled. :/ (Posting using Vivaldi.]

      • jedy123

I’m using Avast web shield (on OSX 10.9.5) and it keeps blocking Disqus saying its blocked an infection???? Had to turn Avast temporarily off to see the comments. Will run virus check aferwards just in case.

        • x a

I don’t use any security suite other than Windows Defender [Win10/64bit].

        • Kev87

Here there are no problems at all with avast and disqus

    • x a

I loaded an imperfect SpeedDial extension in development as ”unpacked extension“. From thereon, Opera froze a tab trying to display extension manager; also speed dial tabs froze. I edited the test extension out of Preferences, removed the path to it, removed it from Bookmarks (all while Opera not running) – but Sync seems to insist on it, thus rendering my Opera-Sync account poisoned. What’s left to do?

      • x a

It’s actually true: Whether I use a synced Linux or even swipe to the synced “other devices” speed dial page on Opera on Android: tabs freeze, Opera/Android crashes.

How can I fix this? How can I manually issue a command to remove that corrupt(?) speed dial extension entry from my account on your sync servers?

        • x a

          To continue monologuing:

It was only Vux777’s V7 Bookmarks side panel extension hopefully coming to my rescue and allowing to delete offending speed dial entries – I used it from a different but synced machine, manipulating the corrupt speed dial via “other speed dials”. I assume and hope, the modifications are promoted to th sync servers. Android Opera still crashes, if I choose the offending remote speed dial, though; wait and see, if it gets the change sooner or later.

However, right now I can access said speed dial again in the built-in bookmarks manager of the remote machine (which previously lead to a tab-freeze). And the changes weren’t magically undone by sync server interference. Let’s wait and see how it plays out, when I have the opportunity to access the computer it all began on.

  • Kev87

Opera is back in business! 🙂

    • Leonardo Gomes

When Opera has left it? 🙂

      • Kev87

Never 🙂 I use it since Opera 9 and I’ve never switched to another browser, even if Opera 15 was not quite a browser with lots of features and at that time lots of people were complaining and switched browsers. In my opinion it’s always been great, even if it was much less powerful in terms of features. Opera always was and is an innovator even if there were some difficult times since the switch where at that time there were more important things to do first. I just wanted to say that it seems like there are more features being added since a few months, but of course before you can add all of those, you first need a sold foundation to build upon, so work and improvements behind the scenes are as eaqually important. I am a developer myself and I know that it takes time to do such things. I don’t understand why lots of people don’t realise that and have no patience, even if it takes a while. I think they are now at a stage where this is almost done and they can begin with extra ‘eye-catching’ things. So keep up the good work Opera team! 🙂

Need option to hide Google Search ugly field in Speed Dial

Speed dial tiles become blurry when hovered. Annoying.

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

      Hi, what’s your operating system?

      • Kamen Minkov

Can confirm this – using the new Speed Dial, tiles look blurry for maybe half a second after hovering, but are okay after that. That’s on Windows 10 Pro.

        • Stanislav Stratil

Also true on Win 7 x64.

      • Ghirahim

        Windows 10.

  • Dark Andrew

    New Speed-Dial design is great!
But please move sidebar from left to right side.

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

      Stay tuned 😉

  • Pavol

To answer your question: What would you like to see?.
I would like to see finally more customization options related to position of bars and other elements. Particularly i would like to be able to move the bookmark bar on the right side of the address bar. Please! Many users might appreciate this simple feature and people who are not interested in, they will just not use it. Remember, powerful software is only that one which can be customized!

    • BK

Thanks, we are working on more options for SD in this cycle. You should be at least partially satisfied.

  • Mon

Viewing screenshot, the new Speed Dial design is better than the current. I would like that recently closed tabs list displayed as many items as when it was on menu.

  • Fałek

I was thinking about changing colour of navigation bar. Until Windows 10 1511 ver. you couldn’t change colour of the taskbar and it was compatible with Opera’s navigation bar. With this Windows release you can change the taskbar colour.

PS: and of course tab stacking

  • Pau B

I would love to have back the old Speed Dial of Opera 30. I’m using now Opera 30.0.1835.88 and stopped updating to newer versions because of the new ugly Speed Dial. Please, give us the option to choose the Speed Dial thumbnails. 🙂

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

You can choose thumbnail while adding a page to Speed dial via heart button. Is this a feature you’re missing?

      • Pau B

Hi. Yes, I knew that. But I have hundreds of thumbnails on my Speed Dial so editing every one of them to show the way I like is crazy. So I would like the option to choose between the new tiled thumbnails or the old web preview thumbnails. I have deleted opera_autoupdate.exe and I’m using UpdateFreezer_1.10.134.exe to block Opera from updating to newer versions. Go figure! I know using Opera 30.0.1835.88 right now can be dangerous and that I’m missing new features, but I really hate the new tiled thumbnails. 🙂

        • Stanislav Stratil

Im using both dial types, or just some image dial from web page – as I feel it. But you have there really good point about switching them all to some types. Developers should think about that.

  • Shakil Shahadat

New speed dial is great. I think the navigation bar should be vertically centered. Someone in the comment asked to place it in the right side, that may also work.

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

Thanks for all suggestions regarding speed dial.

  • Shakil Shahadat

Can the menu button be placed on the right side? As a hamburger menu may be? I don’t know why I don’t like a menu at that position. Its may be I am right handed and I like the menu to be placed on the right hand.

  • Shakil Shahadat

No link on http://abc.go.com is working for me. Please check. Its working on chrome & firefox.

    • Leonardo Gomes

I’ve just checked a few ones and all worked fine here. I’m on Windows 10 if that matters.

Are tou using any extensions? If so, try with them disabled.

      • Shakil Shahadat

‘Adblock Plus’ is the culprit, thanks.

        • Ralf Brinkmann

I don’t like and use Adblock Plus (I use µBlock), but mostly it’s simply a problem of the lists you use.

  • Shakil Shahadat

Can the ‘add a site’ button on the speed dial be transparent? Just a plus sign may look nice. Currently the blackness is taking more attraction it deserve.

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

      Thanks for all suggestions.

  • Shakil Shahadat

    How to delete search engines?

    • Leonardo Gomes

You mean the default ones? You can’t delete them.

      • L33t4opera

Hi Karen, if you want to hide the “G” search box, then please have a look here, or if you want to remove the search in SD in the top right, then you can enable opera:flags#news-on-startpage – of course, if you don’t mind the “News” button on the bottom left 😉

        • KarenArzumanyan

          Thanks! Help this:

There is a bug in all version of opera, web notifications don’t work correctly on windows 10 if they are inside an extension, this happens on the famous gmail notifier and also in an extension that I’m developing. The same code work perfectly on chrome. The problem is only on windows 10 because on arch linux with xfce and opera stable it work perfectly.

Developers, thank you for your attention on UI and Speed Dial! At last!)
But I would like to see a blackout just on the navigation bar not on the all screen…

  • hspdion

As far as adjusting the browser according to our preferences, I desperately would like an easy way to reorder extension icons in-browser

  • Stanislav Stratil

YES! These are all great improvments, but I have there some notes regarding Speed Dial…

    1. Im not sure about position on the left. I think that SD should be centered, if you have side panel on the side, SD is not centered anymore. I still think, it should be better to put this on the center, above google search bar. But everyone will have different opinion about this…

    2. Title of the webpage under dials. – This is much better than previous solution. Nothing to add here.

    3. Add web (+) – We still want to be able to hide this icon.

    4. Hover-zoom effect on dials. Its better than previous hover effect which were almost invisible. But I like it more, (and maybe its even better for performance?) if there is only some border highlight effect, maybe in light blue color or something like that. But again, everyone will feel different about this.

    5. Google search bar. We can disable it, ok… But im using it sometimes, so I have it enabled. But I think, that it looks too robust with this white background around it. Wouldnt it be better and more UI simple if this white background was transparent? Or not so big on the height?

    6. You got rid of half transparent dark background, which were around Speed Dial/Bookmarks/News etc. in bottom panel. You put it on the left without that background – Only icons are there. I just want to say, that it looks much better without that background.

Anyway, thx for this promising release. Im still waiting for improvements in search engines.

  • Sidney Moraes

Devs, the design of speed dial is perfect!!!

  • Stanislav Stratil

If there will be any more settings for Speed Dial, you should add there some gear icon, to be able to quickly change them. Maybe beside that little search icon in the upper right corner. Like it was in old opera. I really dont understand reason for this setting, to be in main browser setting. It should be quickly accessible from speed dial itself.

There should be options like number of columns / rows, sliders for changing size of dials, space between dials, transparency of dials etc. And maybe even settings for position of side panel, which icons I want to show / hide on side panel and enable / disable search field? – Now people are still asking how to disable search field, and its still hidden behind konami code. It was funny idea this konami code in the past, but its the past, and old jokes arent jokes anymore. I think its time to get rid of it.

    • Herr Pietrus

Hmm… IMHO it’s better to have all the options in different sections of the settings page.

      • Stanislav Stratil

Im on Speed Dial -> I want to change something speed dial related. Why do I need to open new tab with settings for that? If I can have it inside the speed dial, where I can immediately see the changes?

I would agree with you, but not for speed dial setting. It was like this in old opera, and it worked great. There is no any good reason for it to be hidden in the main settings.

    • BK

Hi Stanislaw. Something close to what you suggest is being worked on.

      • Stanislav Stratil

        Good to know, thank you.

  • Gloriam

I like the idea of the new speed dial, less wasted space on the side, but will it work with the other UI elements like News or will that be slightly redesigned as well?

  • Hanny Nanny

When using opera://bookmarks/ as start page, it occupies a whole tab

    • Leonardo Gomes

As it should, right? It’s a page.

      • Hanny Nanny

That was intended to be a hint. Why not give it at least the width of a pinned tab?

        • Leonardo Gomes

But you want to use it as a pinned tab or as the start page?

Or you are trying to say that you would like an option for start page to open as a pinned tab?

          • Hanny Nanny

Bookmarks in a simple tab appears so frowsy to me that I am forced to use an extension for this.

  • Herr Pietrus

WOW. Yes, yes, yes! (like prime minister Marcinkiewicz used to say) It sounds GREAT! FINALLY! I hope that it will be as good as it sounds. Starting download…

Edit: 😛 – oh yeah, it is great! I’m waiting for the polished news and then I’ll change my main browser to developer build. Great work. Finally SD looks good.
I hoper that the new news page will use screen space in more efficient way – I mean there will be more room for the news.
RSS? Smart RSS is fantastic, but… why not? 🙂

I hope that when you end all these great changes you’ll get appreciation you deserve. And that Opera will gain at least a few percentage points in the popularity rankings. Even now it’s better than Chrome – gestures, all build-in options. It only has ugly, irritating SD 😛 – but that will be no problem soon.

    Fantastic news.

And I think that moving new navigation buttons to the right can be a good idea. As a result we don’t have “too much vertical spaces” in one place and we get quite interesting internal pages design with the brighter field in the middle and two darker stripes on the edges.
Or at least give us an option to do that. Because if we don’t use sidebar, menu on the left, with the same background as the internal pages dark panel, will be OK too.
But I’m starting to think that these icons on the right side are more ergonomic…
But, again, perhaps only for thosee who don’t use the sidebar very often…

  • Herr Pietrus

Oh, one more thing. Guys, let us to show and hide sidebar using the mouse!
    Ctr+Shift+S? That’s not an arcade game! 🙂
    OK, OK, I know, custom shortcuts… but still… 🙂

  • Vux777

twitter tabs takes 20 seconds to close
after clicking (x) on tab badge

    • Marko Koivuniemi

Maybe that’s related to my problem that closing Opera takes ages. I’m not sure if quit command via menu or CTRL+SHIFT+X is ignored and I try again and again. But it could also be that my twitter tabs takes time to close. (W10 64-bit)

      • Vux777

I’m only experiencing this on twitter win10 x64

  • Stanislav Stratil

I was thinking about location of that side bar, and reached conclusion, that this was the best solution: http://www.geek.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/opera-15.jpg

Put the icons on this place, and make seamless transition between them, like it was in 15. It was on horizontal line, so seamless transition from right to left and vice versa were logical, and it worked perfectly.

You can just make some space for it on all pages, and thats it.

Or are there any people who are against this solution? Im interested.

    • Nekomajin43

      I am.

It seems that the navbar will be movable. I hope this does not mean only to the right side but to the top and the bottom also.

    • Herr Pietrus

I wrote about that many times.
But placing the icons on the left or on the right is good too. They look great and don’t consume too much space. Honestly, I’m starting to think that with such icons we’ve got in the current developer build, it’s even better to keep them on the left or – even better? – on the right.
But of course – more options for the users, more fun 🙂

    • Aneta Reluga

We are evaluating a number of ideas at the moment. However (I’m going personal here and this is my opinion only) vertical sidebar seems really reasonable in the era of wide screens and I like it.

      • xirit64

Agreed, also, the tiles should keep their dominant position in the Speed Dial -like it is now- without any other icons on top or in the bottom. Because by reducing the brightness exposure of the background and removing the unnecessary white stripes of the tiles you ‘ve brought the tiles to the foreground which made the Speed Dial powerful. And since the Speed Dial is what differentiates Opera from all the other browsers immediately at first sight it should stay like that if you want my opinion 🙂

      • Stanislav Stratil

Well, you have a point here. And actually it can be good on the side, if you will implement it well.
And if there can be seamless transition in horizontal directions, why not in vertical? It could also be like one long vertical page, separated into sections – speed dial, bookmarks, history etc and left panel can work like a switch for moving between these sections… hmm, it just popped up now…

  • LoverOfLife

There is a problem on http://9gag.com/ After scrolling page down, gifs are not playing. On Stable is working ok

    • Ralf Brinkmann

      No problem here on W10x64.

      • LoverOfLife

Did you scroll more down ? First posts are working for me too. I am on Win10 x64 also

        • Ralf Brinkmann

Yes, I scrolled down down down, more than 30 screen pages, and then also up up up again, to see, if something has changed. Everything worked perfect. Maybe you have to look into opera:flags for the problem.

          • LoverOfLife

Thanks for reply, i was thinking too about flags, maybe is something wrong there. I moved from Stable to Dev and just copied profile. I’ll try to reset flags to see if it works

          • LoverOfLife

I reset all flags to defaults and disabled all extensions, the problem still persists

          • Ralf Brinkmann

You can try a new profile, just for testing. Close Opera, rename the profile folder and restart Opera. Then it will create a new profile. Later you can rename the old profile folder back.

          • LoverOfLife

I just did that, and it works now. Maybe the problem was in “Preferences”, thank you

  • Aivier

Hello,Opera Turbo(OPR 34 and up) not work in China, after open all site always show ‘waiting for xxxx…‘ , Mobile Opera have same problem, but just skip turbo direct load website.

help.opera.com in china resolve to ip 59.151.98.156 , can’t open anyway.

    • BK

Thanks for this report. This is being tracked internally as DO-1396.

  • mha2999

regard “tab previews”, how about make it behave like Windows taskbar thumbnail preview. When mouse hovers over the tab, a small preview shows up. And when mouse hovers over the small preview, big preview of the website shows up.

  • ben

    Hi,
is there a way to filter the entries in the bookmark tree (!)?
When i enter “house”, then all the bookmarks with “house” should be displayed, BUT including the tree structure, like it was in opera 12.x
    Ben

    • BK

Hi Ben. We are not working on improvements in bookmarks manager atm. We will be happy to hear your feedback on SD and News.

  • icetom

“Simple, yet powerful UI – ..removing, for example, the sync button from the top UI. But, on the other hand, we’d like to give you more tools and options to adjust your browser according to your preferences. What would you like to see?”

id like to be able to remove the news symbol and the redundant second searchbar (on the top right), as well as adjust the spaces in between elements. There is way too much space on top of the google searchbar in speeddial, which is wasted space.

    • imaget

You can disable the search bar on speed dial. Press top – top – bottom – bottom – left – right – left – right – B – A – Enter on the keyboard. And press Enter again. And find option Disable the searchbar. Thats all. Enjoy clean and usable speed dial

      • RafaellaG

This shouldn’t not be a power user option, but a normal setting!

        • imaget

You’re right. In my comment I said about it. It must be a normal setting.

    • BK

      Thanks.

      • Itchy

I would like to hide the sync icon, be able to move around extension icons, and add a home button. Thanks!

    • Liviu Vasut

the best variant should be to allow users to personalize the entire UI as in the old Opera (12.16) because “simple” and “powerful” mean different things to different people

  • Stanislav Stratil

If I hover over main menu button (in the upper left) with mouse cursor, it blinks twice. Is it supposed to be like this? Cause it looks weird. Its like that in stable and even in this dev version.
    Win 7 x64.

    • SuperTommy

No, but it’s been reported in previous version I remember.

  • imaget

Please remove some separators: on bookmark bar, on addonsbar and on adress bar, also add normal option for disabling the search bar on speed dial and discover (news)

    • imaget

Forget – also I need option to disable start page button

  • Anonimo

Since we have drop down menu with tabs and extensions to manage tabs, the possibility to entirely hide tabs strip from the titlebar would be excellent.

  • Martin Holoubek

Great job, Opera team. I really miss an option to lock the speed dial. Btw. new design is superb.

  • Abdolahi

i really really need to sync two or three of my speed dials so that any change to one of them , make change to others !
i need to chose which speed dials are the same and i need them to be one
i don’t need to sync them separately as other speed dials
so please add this to future updates and make it possible to chose which speed dials are same and sync them together and which ones are separate and sync them as other speed dials
    thank you

    please answer me !

    • BK

what is that you are trying to acheive with such synchronization?

      • Abdolahi

i work in a mobile store and i need my speed dials exactly be same
so i could access to all of web pages in any of my work PC !
        just like opera 12 !

        • BK

Sd synchronization in O34 supposed to be the same as in O12. What is the difference for you?

Have you tried using USB installation with configured Sync and copying it everywhere?

          • Abdolahi

            here is the different :
            O34 :
if you use 2 computers and sync them, there will be two different speed dials that syncs separately and make change to one of them does not make change to the other !
O12 : if you use 2 computers and sync them , any change to each ones speed dial will make change to the other !
            i need this future
            thanks !

  • Jescat

when swithcing to inactive tab you can accidentally mute sound. i think mute button should be active only in active tab. Also if you open many tabs.. real pixelhanting to switch tab correctly and don’t mute audio.

  • RafaellaG

    Error:
On Win 10 64-bit (latest, with all updates) – I have navigation side panel enabled – I accidentally resized the bookmarks (right/bookmarks picture) side over the side panel.
Couldn’t resize it back until I disabled the navigation side panel again.

Why is it even possible to resize the right side so much that it overlays the bookmarks tree (left) side?

    Possible error:
Also if you hover with the mouse over a bookmark on the tree (left) side you can see the highlight always a bit under/in the right (bookmark pictures) side.

    Request/suggestion:
Is it possible to automatically show the side panel if you move your mouse to the left (or right/top/bottom) side of the screen/panel. And only then?

    Question:
It’s an old feature but I always ask me why there is a “new private WINDOW” and not a “new private TAB” (in the curent window)? Something technical?

  • Cryio

    Can I make a request?

When you right click a Speed Dial and Select “Open All”, can you allow to me press Space to confirm my choice? Currently I can only use Enter or Left Click.

  • Didit A. Pamungkas

O yeah, RSS reader is back..

  • Itchy

A option to disable the sync button on the top right would be really useful. Please add this! Also ability to move around extension icons by dragging.

  • Dark Magician

Not about the browser, but still, use TLS on all domains like Mozilla and Vivaldi, and fix this.

    https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=https%3A%2F%2Faddons.opera.com

    • Aneta Reluga

      Thanks for the hint.

  • Herr Pietrus

Where is the next awesome build? Work faster! 😛

    • BK

It might be delayed till next week, as the options in the SD takes a bit longer to be delivered.
Today we plan to release O35 beta.

      • Herr Pietrus

So, separate notions for the SD confirmed? 😛 Next week still sounds good 🙂

  • Dmitry Kirin

I have managed to reproduce the bug with single hotkeys:
On Facebook, on my personal page, I click the status update text area and start typing. Periods and commas go into the text as they should. However, after I press Enter to start a new line, periods and commas trigger the inline search. Other single-key functions are also invoked. For example, I sometimes get a sudden question, “Do you really want to leave the page?”, which must be the effect of pressing X or Z.
Interestingly, the bug does not appear with the similar text area on the main FB page, only on the personal page. I have tried to disable all extensions that might be interacting with content. The bug remained.

    • Nekomajin43

On messenger.com, writing numbers to the input field still triggers page zoom or tab shift. It is really annoying.

      • Aneta Reluga

Do you both have advanced shortcuts turned on, maybe? If so, it is known :/

        • Nekomajin43

          Yep.

        • Dmitry Kirin

          Yes, me too.

  • Joe438

I only just noticed that the new speed dial in developer pops the speeddials out slightly when hovering over them. I kinda like it.

The speed dials also have significantly more space between them vertically, which I am less a fan of.

I especially like the side panel on the left for speed dial. It is very intuitive and not annoyingly loud. In other words it is easy to ignore and easy to find.

    What is “The long-awaited expander”?

  • Dave-H

Someone else mentioned the speed dial icons changing when hovered over earlier on, and I meant to mention then that I couldn’t see this.
The only thing I can think of is that the animation doesn’t work on Windows XP, although there’s been no mention of that.

    • Vux777

I think new SD tiles are only in combo with
      opera://flags/#web-ui-navigation-sidepanel

      • Dave-H

Ah, thank you that was it!
Strange that it doesn’t animate without that flag set, I see no reason why it shouldn’t.

        • Vux777

it’s a work in progress (by how it looks)
that animation looks blurry for the moment
          plus, image jumps when resizing

          • Dave-H

            Yes, I’m sure that’s why.
It does look OK here, there a slight blurring while the thumbnails are actually zooming, but no jumping.

  • Andis Spriņķis

You guys could add a feature to drag-and-drop rearrange extension icons so I have my social network notification icons on one side of the toolbar list and web development tools on the other.

  • xirit64

The only problem I have is that on my laptop (1280×800) wtih a 90% zooom my Speed Dial can only show 5 columns instead of 6 as it was before. If I zoom it @75% then it shows 7 but they are pretty small. Maybe it’s time for a 80% or even 85% too?

  • L33t4opera

    New build – Opera developer 36.0.2079.0 😉

    • Ralf Brinkmann

      7 minutes… 🙂

  • Abdolahi

    RSS support please !

  • mdfier

Are you considering adding tagging functionality to bookmarks?

    • Leonardo Gomes

Afaik they are not working on bookmarks right now.

  • Frode P. Bergsager

We would like more tools and options to adjust Opera browser according to our preferences, isn’t that obvious?
Users who don’t want options use IE, Chrome or Edge.

Original Opera users still use Opera 12.17, and check out Vivaldi and New Opera to find out if they are mature and advanced enough to upgrade.

    • cumfy

I’ve stuck with 11.60 for ages, is 12.17 worth upgrading to ?

      • Dave-H

I would say yes, although there are some who say that 12.14 is the best version of Presto Opera as later versions had some site compatibility problems. They’re all available on the FTP site.

        • cumfy

What does 12.14/7 have that 11.60 does not ?

          • Dave-H

No extra facilities IIRC, but a very large number of security patches!

  • Lie Fabs

Thank you for perhaps the most level headed thing I have read today. I also can share my experience in files merging. If you ever need to merge some documents, here is ALTO-Merge a really useful tool. Very easy to navigate and use.

  • Sean Zafra

Please fix the problem where you can’t watch Netflix. I am currently using the latest version. Before I updated it was working perfectly.

  • catlettuce redux

Why are the icons for extensions now tiny (Surface Pro 4). They are literally microscopic

  • Paulo Henrique Duarte

Where is the “Show menu bar” option?

    • Leonardo Gomes

      There isn’t a menu bar.

  • Daniel Der Stolle

I f*** Up this Changes every time… Let the Users change self where they want the sidebar position… STOP TO CHANGE THE UI EVERY TIME AND ADD A OPTION FOR THIS…

I go Back to O35 or 34… Such a shit here every time again!

  • Kay L. Brown

It doesn’t work with Windows 7. I’ve been struggling for months to get Opera to work. Version 35 and 36 just don’t work. I keep getting connection error messages. I’ve given up on ever using Opera again. I’m going back to Google Chrome.

I’ve cleaned my hard drive, ran various ant-virus and anti-malware programs, everything. It makes no difference. 🙁

  • John Baker

I don’t like the new, dull gray “metro” interface at all. I’ll be going back to Opera 34.
