The bug where all spell checking languages look selected (introduced in the previous stable version) still exists. All spell checking languages look selected from the beginning and remain even when you select a specific one.

    • Aneta Reluga

Yes, thanks. This is a known issue and being worked on.

      • Bonpotiron

It doesn’t appear to be solved yet. still being fixed?

        • Leonardo Gomes

Seems fixed here on Stable 33, released today.

  • András Ács

You missed the opportunity to link to a more entertaining crash test:

Opera desktop icon still not got the new opera logo !

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

We will change the logo once HL3 is released 😉

      • Nachiketa Ramesh

Any plans on a tile (maybe a live tile) for Windows 10?

        • Mikolaj Boc

Windows 10 build 10547 fixes this, check it out.

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

Does that mean there was a live tile but it doesnt work till build 10547? Because this isnt a bug?!

          • Marcin Mitek

It means that there was a bug in Windows 10. And we never had a live tile, but we had (have on Win 8.x) a nicer metro-styled tile, not just the one created with regular desktop icon.

          • Nachiketa Ramesh

            Thanks

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

And seriously @disqus_MyV6WWyKxw:disqus – changing the logo is a bit complex process. Work is still in progress.

      • Gordon Freeman

It was not meant so serious only a Tip 🙂
But your answer – TOP !

  • Jari Karjalainen

Is flash still working in this version?

    • Aneta Reluga

      You mean NPAPI Flash? Yes.

      • Jari Karjalainen

It seems that is PPAPI. Is this version that will not be removed in future?

        • Aneta Reluga

NPAPI support is being dropped, yes, but PPAPI is OK.

  • SKS

It says up-to-date on opera://about/ page but version is still 32.0.1948.25. New update is not being detected.

    • SuperTommy

It’s a gradual update. Get the offline installer if you want it right away.

  • Lacedaemon

Why don’t you update the 32 beta as well to make it equal to 32 stable? Or should we stay like that (32.0.1948.19 vs. 32.0.1948.69) for more than 1 month until 33 beta arrives? Change your policy on that it doesn’t hurt you.

    • Aneta Reluga

New beta is on schedule and the work is in progress.

      • Lacedaemon

Ehm, what you said is a bit off-topic? We know those facts already.

        • Aneta Reluga

Not off-topic, just maybe improper wording. Let me explain: the work in progress is on releasing initial beta based on version 33 so it’s not going to be “a month”. No reason for being sarcastic, please.

    • https://vivaldi.net/unity/profile/chas4/6-blog Chas4

There will be a Opera 33 beta when it is ready for testing, beta and stable and developer are different streams, see http://www.opera.com/blogs/desktop/streams/

      • Lacedaemon

So if Opera 32 beta stops at 32.0.1948.19 how is it promoted to Stable and Stable becomes 32.0.1948.25? Isn’t the previous 31 Stable replaced by the latest beta (in that case not .19 but .25) or are the fixes and bugs of the beta somehow “transported” to Stable without replacing anything? It is my limited understanding of software branching that confuses me. Why can’t the 2 patches with the new fixes be backported to the beta 32 since they all come from the same base, 32.0.1948.19 that is?

        • Aneta Reluga

It’s your latter assumption. There is *no* replacement; Stable is always Stable, beta is always beta and developer is always developer (three separate streams). So, beta does not “become” Stable – it is always separate.

          • Lacedaemon

OK I guess I should read some papers about branching & backporting since the mechanism for porting changes and fixes between streams is still unclear to me. To me it just sounds unreasonable how it is possible to backport changes of the master branch (developer) to the beta and to stable on one hand and not possible to port it to the latest “frozen” beta on the other hand. Not the beta that is constantly worked on, but the frozen one, 32.0.1948.19.

  • catup

I am wondering why Opera browser always lag behind Chrome even after this update announcement.

    • Leonardo Gomes

      And you are talking about….?

      • SuperTommy

        Probably Chromium version.

  • Колька Однорог

Why messenger.com looks different in Opera and other browsers (like Chrome, Edge)? In Opera typing line is above the chat window. In other browsers – under the chat (like in mobile version).

    • Nekomajin43

I’ve reported this via the bug tracker.
      Masking the user agent helps.

      • Leonardo Gomes

In this case reporting the issue to the site’s developers would also be useful.

        • Nekomajin43

          Done that too.

      • Колька Однорог

        Thank you!

Version says “32.0.1948.25 – Opera is up to date” Why?

  • Ricardo J. Barberis

Since the last stable version Opera stoped using KDE’s file dialog and started using Qt’s, which is pretty annoying to me.

    Anyone else noticed this?
Any way to switch back to KDE’s file dialog?

I haven’t found anything relevant in prefernces or flags but maybe I’m just not looking for the right word.

    Slackware 14.1, 64 bits
    KDE 4.14.6
    Qt 4.8.7

    Thanks in advance!

    • Aneta Reluga

KDialogs used to have usage limitations in comparison to other dialogs and there were reported issues about that, so in fact, what you report is a fix to these issues.
By the way, you are getting Qt not GTK dialogs there, right? Thanks.

      • Ricardo J. Barberis

Mmmm, now that you mention it, I assumed it was Qt dialogs but might be GTK.

Not sure how to know for certain though, as ‘ps fax’ doesn’t show any differences with and without the dialog open.

Anyway, to me this is a regression since my “old” dialog had more user facing functionality and was obvoiusly more integrated with KDE.

And this “new” dialog has the annoying feature of automatically copying the auto-selected text to X’s clipboard, messing with my current selection (KDE apps seem to be the only ones that don’t do that).

I’ll check the bug reports and see what I can find, if you have a bug number at hand it’ll be much appreciated.

        Thanks.

      • Ricardo J. Barberis

OK, no public bug tracker that I could find, but saw this in the changelog for Opera developer update 32.0.1918.0:

DNA-32579 It is not possible to save a web page as “complete HTML” on Linux with KDE. The option is not in the save file dialog.

Any way to force KDE’s dialogs instead of whatever Opera’s using right now?

        • Aneta Reluga

Not at the moment. As you have already noticed, the limitation was well described in the bug description, and the fix was to provide consistent experience across all possible desktop environments that might be used by the users.

However, if you really need exactly Kdialogs, you can report a bug for this and it will be evaluated for fixing. Thanks.

          • Ricardo J. Barberis

Thank you, I’ll se to report a bug.

    Why not fix DNA-42725
DNA-42725 [Win] Alpha cutoff views (e.g. the address bar) not rendered properly in hi contrast theme.

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

It’s already fixed internally. Will land on Stable stream with next release.

      • matic rosm

        OK thanks

    • blue_screen

They added 8 ads to my speed dial – in a minor update. Opera is getting adware again.

    • icetom

  • soularav

Hi! I still use opera portable 30 in my work with flash plug-in beucause admin have locked flash player. Can you do something about ppappi plug-in to work?
Beucase i dont have admin rights to instal pepperflash. Thank you.
    Sorry for my bad english.
Keep up the good work guys.

    • Radek Rzepecki

No, you need admin rights in order to install any plugin.

      • Kai Ockendorf

Why don’t you make it inbuild like Chrome? I mean, we wouldn’t have to care about any flash installation then….would be very helpful 😉

        • soularav

i agree with Kai. If any developer could help and add flash in future builds that will be great cause i really like opera browser.

        • Leonardo Gomes

I gues it would be costly and could lead into security issues as they would have to not only create and add the plugin but also keep it updated.

It’s simpler to just use what is in user’s system.

          • Kai Ockendorf

Maybe you are right, but for every user it would be more easy to use the browser…especially for new users!! Install Opera & have fun, instead of looking for the right flash version! It’s working in Chrome, so why not in Opera? 😉

  • dflyra

I’ve written about that before but nobody answered – maybe it’s my problem. After installing animated themes, the themes page crashes – when reloaded everything is OK. The same thing happened in Opera Developer after installing some animated themes. Has anybody experienced that?. Also, is there a limit as to how many themes can somebody install? I have seen some themes ‘dissapear’ after installing new ones.

    • Aneta Reluga

Hi @dflyra:disqus – I saw your comment, IIRC, under the developer blog post, but I didn’t respond because apparently the crash is not reproducible, and I tried for it on Win7 and Win8.1. Same for the disappearing themes. Can you please report two bugs through the bug wizard page with as many details as possible? One for the crash and one for disappearing themes. That would be most helpful.

      Page: https://bugs.opera.com/wizarddesktop/

      Thanks in advance.

    • Hadley Zedras

Away from animated themes for a sec………Its not every photo or jpeg that works with still themes, most if not all of the jpegs Ive tried do not show as a background even though they still the tick on the load page ?

    System is wrong on opera://about/

There is no such thing as “Mac OS X 10.11.0 64-bit” (nor will there ever be as Apple dropped Mac from the OS X name years ago)

    Should be “OS X 10.11.0 64-bit”

    • SuperTommy
      • Marko Koivuniemi

Maybe someone could write extension which will replace “Mac ” with “” in about page to satisfy Chas4 😉

        • https://vivaldi.net/unity/profile/chas4/6-blog Chas4

Well I would guess it would annoy Apple that Opera is making up names, they fixed Opera on Windows 10 (when it said Windows 10 was Windows 8.1), Apple changed the name years ago

I am not talking about the user agent SuperTommy

  • Lacedaemon

Thanks again for additional & returning ads after the update. Deleting them with every update/upgrade is such a nice thing you offer to us.

    • SuperTommy

I’m going a bit off-topic, Lace. But this update got the Chromium snapping issue fixed, can you also test if the UI still bugs out on a new maximized window? I know you use Win7.

    • Alan

It’s like suddenly they stopped respecting my privacy. Alarming.

  • Lacedaemon

this update got the Chromium snapping issue fixed, can you also test if the UI still bugs out on a new maximized window? I know you use Win7.

    @tommywille:disqus Confirmed (fixed). Good.

    • SuperTommy

      Thanks!

      • Lacedaemon

There is another problem though, if you have opened your newly private window in a window and not maximized (previous new private window in window-mode so that it remembers it) and drag it to the the top with the mouse to maximize it, the 3 window buttons dissapear from the UI and the window bar looks black.

        /added: the screenshot: http://s7.postimg.org/9dqpn87uj/black.png

        • SuperTommy

Not able to reproduce on Windows 10 yet. Might be isolated to Win 7, but I’ll keep trying.

          • Lacedaemon

This happens for a long time and probably was never noticed. I ‘ve added a screenshot, Shift-F5.

          • SuperTommy

I remember that issue, yes. I had it on Windows 8.1, but not at all after upgrading to Win 10. So I assumed it was fixed. It’s isolated to 7 and 8.1 then.

          • Lacedaemon

dang it, the intial problem – the one you’ve asked if it was fixed- still exists. Open a new private window, then drag-un-maximize it and resize it to being smaller. Don’t close it and now open a new private window and un-snap it. The UI is broken.

          • SuperTommy

I got it now as well. Wasn’t able to reproduce it the original way, so it seems like it occurs a lot less. But yeah, still there.

          • Lacedaemon

Yes it doesn’t happen all the time and I can’t always reproduce it. It’s fixed to some state but not fully.

          • Lacedaemon

Since the browser don’t always remembers the private
window’s last state (maximized or not) I’ve tried to isolate it by
-opening a new window and dragging it out of its maximized state to a window state
-now opening (without closing the other one) a new private window -> the window opens in a semi-maximized state
-dragging it to the top to fully maximize it produces the black bar and the disappearance of the 3 window icons.

Can you check it/confirm it now?

          • SuperTommy

            Here’s what I get;

When I drag it to the top, I get a flash of a black bar for half a second, before it reverts back to default color. I suspect this is because on Windows 10, the color on the titlebar is fixed (for time being), where you can’t change the default color like on the other Windows versions. But seeing the black flash, the problem obviously is there.

          • Lacedaemon

Thanks, I also wrote it in the newly created O33 beta post, in case someone misses it.

  • icetom

you added billiger.de , surfeasy.com , aliexpress.com , booking.com , otto.de , investing.com to my speedials. you specificly answered me in a previous release blog post, that this is a bug and seemed suprised that this happens. now in this version you add even more advertisement, were you actually joking at me when you said this is a bug?

    • Lacedaemon

Same here, awaiting answer as well, here and in the newly O33 beta post.

        • Vux777

          no it’s not

  • Kari Ikonen

I wonder if there is going to be any fixes in bookmark syncing in any time soon. When enabling it Opera nicely tells that bookmarks will be persisted forever. And certainly they are persisted forever. I’ve been trying two days to delete 2000 duplicated bookmarks, but when I manage to delete them, they are resynced back from another machine where I’ve opera. So I’m starting to get mildly irritated.

So so far my experience of opera bookmark syncing is that it’s fatally broken.

This combined with the fact that bookmark manager is close to useless, i.e. can operate only one bookmark at a time, with *slow* motion animations. It becames painful when trying to delete 2000+ garbage bookmark duplicates generated by opera itself.

Or is the message perhaps, that one shouldn’t use bookmarks at all

    • Pavel Aleksandrov

I think opera 33 should be fixing this. I’m just as annoyed as you, and this REALLY should have been a top priority hotfix distributed to whatever the current stable version was when it was solved.

Is twitter completely borked for anyone else today? The layout is messed up, elements are missing…just an unusable hodge-podge. I deleted my Opera profile and started fresh – still the same. Also tried disabling Adguard. Firefox renders the page fine.

Just started Opera today to find a whole load of adverts added to my speed dial. Never had any notification of an update but see that my version number is 32.0.1948.69. Very upset, both with the intrusion to my user space, and to see the Opera name being dragged through the gutter in such a manner.
…However, off the back of this I have just had a look and noticed that Vivaldi now supports Chrome extensions. So maybe there’s no need for me to stick around with Opera any longer anyway.

    • Alan

It is driving me crazy. I panic and think that a malware has hijacked my browser!

    • András Ács

My guess is that Vivaldi will eventually do the same, ie. re-add sponsored tiles on upgrade. The price of a free browser; it’s just the way it is.

  • Alan

Hi. Can you please clarify if Opera will or will not be adding ads on my speed-dial on updates? I thought it was a “bug”. At this point, I am ready to move to another browser. Thank you.

          yea, I just tested

          it’s bugged that way
toolbar button won’t show if previous download is canceled
          predispositions for that are:

          – “ask were to save…” must be enabled
          – user must clear list, so that button disappears from toolbar
…and then cancel some download on save as dialog prompt

after that, button won’t show on toolbar anymore

I have herd there is an experimental version for Windows that is x64, on OS X all of Opera is x64

I think part of it is when Opera has to load a lot of extra stuff on the pages from 3rd party sites some that are animated etc

I know from using Chrome that extensions on 64 bit Chrome use noticeable more memory.
Not sure about the tabs/pages in general, but probably similar

EDIT: btw. from blocking extensions I use only Ghostery (no adblocks)
            it’s good enough

Same Only Ghostery, & using WOT (WOT gold member here)

In the 2-3 latest stable versions, i’m having a strange problem: out of nowhere, Opera stops receiving keyboard commands (can’t type, no keyboard shortcuts, nothing) and the problem fixes itself only if i restart Opera. Don’t really know how to reproduce it, it occurs out of nowhere. I’m using Windows 10 64-bit. Is this a known issue?

Interesting I have seem the same with Opera 32, but on OS X 10.10.x & 10.11

I noticed this bug is related to NPAPI-Plugin. If I open a PDF file in PDF Xchange Viewer (NPAPI-Plugin), I can’t type any letter anywhere in Opera. When I open the Windows Start Menu and type there and switch back to Opera, I can type again. Before Opera 32 stable, there wasn’t this bug.
      Windows 7 pro 32bit.

Are you sure it’s not Ghostery’s or some other blocking extension’s fault?

      • https://vivaldi.net/unity/profile/chas4/6-blog Chas4

Might be Ghostery (I have Ghostery not set to block much at all besides some ad servers that serve broken ads that cause a 50+% cpu spike for just the ad)

Blocking Twitter Button is what caused the break of the button, but the rendering was not cleaned up might be a Ghostery bug or Opera bug then (I blocked Twitter button a while back because it was causing massive CPU spikes when it was loading during page loads)

It’s impossible to set Opera as default browser in Ubuntu 15.10 but also on Elementary OS Freya 0.3.1 which is build on Ubuntu 14.04. Both 64 bit.

I’m just about fed up with Opera as a browser of late. Too many times it either hangs when you try to open pages in a new tab or it crashes at some point in the day when the developer tools are open. The entire browser screen goes black and you need to restart to get things going again.

Hi, there is a problem with Battlelog in Opera. This message shows up: The browser you are currently using does not support game launching with the Battlelog web plugins. On Firefox it’s OK and working good.

Thanks for your report. Are you using Opera 32 or beta/developer?
