Opera for Series 60 tutorial
This guide will show you how Opera for Series 60 works and how to make use of Opera's features and functions.
A Nokia 6600 has been used as an example in this tutorial.
The Opera Web browser for Smartphones is a full Internet browser that allows all access to any Web site, just as with a desktop computer. Opera is included on the Nokia 6600 as part of a complimentary sales package for Europe and Africa and is easily downloadable for the Siemens SX1, Nokia N-gage, Nokia 3650, and Nokia 7650.
With Opera as your mobile browser, you can take the comforts of your home computer away with you.

Getting started
To first set up your phone to connect to the Internet, you will need to define an Internet Access Point (IAP), a GPRS or high-speed connection. If your phone is not set up with an access point, you can add one manually.
Adding access points manually:
- Go to your phone's main menu
- Open "Tools" and go to "Settings"
- Select "Connection" and "Access points"
- Press "Options" and select "New access point"
- If asked, choose "Default settings"

Tip: Access this information with your PC browser for easy instructions follow through.
Once you open Opera, a connection dialog will pop up if you are not connected to the Internet. If you are prompted, select your defined access point and your phone will establish a connection.
Tip: You can select a default access point, and even set Opera to connect automatically within settings.
Opening Web pages
Select "Options > Open > Web Page". Enter a Web address (URL) and select "Ok".
Tip: : Press the joystick down to choose between prefixes and suffixes to avoid typing the entire URL.
Tip: Press the joystick up for a history of previously entered addresses.

Change display modes
Press "Options" and select "Display" to get access to Opera's different display modes.
Full screen
The entire screen will be used for browsing if you activate Opera's "Full-screen" mode. This mode is off by default.
Tip: Press * (or use the menu) to turn "Full-screen" mode on or off.
Fit to screen
Opera's Small-Screen Rendering™ (SSR) reformats Web pages to fit your screen. If disabled, Opera will show Web pages without this alteration.
Tip: Press # (or use the menu) to turn "small-screen" on/off.
Keypad shortcuts:
Using keypad shortcuts is faster than using menus. The buttons on your phone's numeric keypad have therefore been assigned functions. Note: These shortcuts are not available if you press "Options" to open the menus.

Tip: Press keypad 9 and enter a search term to go directly to the Google result page.
Filling in forms
Many Web pages include form fields that you must enter text into. Typical examples are online mail services, or search engines
- Press joystick left/right to move between form field, and push joystick in to activate
- Boxes and buttons that are focused will be marked
- Use your phone's keypad to enter text in input fields
- When you are finished entering the text, push the joystick again and move to next form field or to the submit/search button
View images
By default, Opera downloads and displays images. Since Web pages can have very many images that takes time to download, you can choose between not displaying any images, or only displaying some of the images on the Web page.
Bookmarks
Bookmark Web pages by selecting "Options > Navigation > Add bookmark". You can manage saved bookmarks:
- Press 2 (or use the menu) to open your "Bookmarks" view (tab)
- Press joystick up/down to highlight a bookmark
- Select "Options > Manage bookmarks > Properties/edit"
Opera recognizes "Tags" as bookmark nicknames. You can enter and save tags for as many bookmarks as you wish under "Properties/edit". To open a bookmark by a saved tag (nickname), press 1 (or use the menu) and enter the tag.
Tip: While in "Bookmarks" view, press joystick right to go to the "Transfers" view (tab).
