Configuring Agent to use Opera for opening web pages

Normally, Forté Agent uses the Windows Default Browser setting, which is shared between every application, to figure out what to open web pages in. If you want to use Opera as the default web browser on your computer, refer to the article Making Opera your default browser.

In some cases, you might want to set up an association only in Forté Agent, and let other programs use another browser. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. In Forte Agent, select Tools > Options > URL and MIME Settings > URL types
  2. Under How to launch the URL, choose Use custom settings (below)
Under Custom Settings, do the following:
  1. In the text box for Application, enter the full path to where Opera is installed, for example "C:\Program Files\Opera 9\Opera.exe".
  2. Check the Use DDE box.
  3. The remaining fields should have the following values:
    DDE Message: "%1"
    Application: Opera
    Topic: WWW_OpenURL
    Method: Request
