How do I download Opera?

Downloading Opera is very easy, no matter which web browser you use. Please go to our regular download page at:

www.opera.com/download

The download page will show you the recommended versions for your system, based on the information your browser sent when it fetched the page. If the page shows you the wrong version, or if you are downloading Opera for installing it on another computer, you can click the "Show other versions" link to list all desktop versions of Opera currently supported.

On the installation page for Windows, you can choose between the English and the international installer. If you choose the international installer, you will be prompted for which language you want to use when it starts up. The selection you make here affects the language of the installation program, and the language the user interface is in when you first start Opera. No matter which installer you use, you can change the user interface to many other languages by downloading and installing language files later.

When you have found the version you need, just choose the green "Download Opera" button, and download Opera just as you would download any other file. Depending on your browser, you will probably see a dialog box titled "Save as" or "Opening" which lets you specify where to store the downloaded file.

When the download is complete, what you do next depends on which type of download you requested. On Windows and Mac, you can simply run (open) the installer and follow the instructions. For instructions on Linux and Unix, see How do I install?

If your operating system is not listed on the "Please select your operating system" page, this may be because Opera has discontinued your platform. If you are feeling adventurous, we have made available some older versions for various platforms.
