Installing the Adobe SVG Viewer plug-in

The Opera browser from version 8.00 supports SVG natively so a plug-in is not needed.

To get the Adobe SVG Viewer to work with Opera versions below 8.00, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Adobe SVG Viewer download area and choose to download SVG Viewer for Windows 98-XP. Versions for Linux, Mac, and Solaris are also available from the download area.
  2. Install the Adobe SVG Viewer for Windows by double-clicking on the downloaded installer file "SVGView.exe" and following the on-screen instructions.
  3. Copy the following files into Opera's Plugin folder (Opera\Program\Plugins):
"NPSVG3.dll" and "NPSVG3.zip". To find these files, do a search.
  4. Close and restart Opera
  5. Go to Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Downloads and uncheck "Hide file types opened with Opera"
  6. Find "image/svg+xml" in the list and click "Edit..."
  7. At the bottom of the dialog set "Use plug-in" to "Adobe SVG Viewer"
  8. Find "image/svg-xml" in the list, and repeat

Please note: SVG may not work correctly, some users report that the images do not animate, even though they are displayed.
