A web page appears to display incorrectly in Opera
When a Web page appears to display incorrectly in Opera, there
can be various reasons for this:
- They may be badly written or written specifically for certain browsers without taking other browsers into account
- They may block Opera, either directly (by actively checking if you are using Opera) or indirectly (by actively looking for "supported browsers", and if Opera is not in that list, don't send anything useful)
- It could be using a feature not supported by Opera yet
- There could be a bug in Opera
- There could be a setting in Opera which needs to be changed
To ensure that Opera is set to display pages the way the author indended, please make sure that the following settings are correct:
- Enable images in
- Enable plug-ins, JavaScript and Java (for those who have installed Java support) in
(note: Java and JavaScript are two different technologies.
JavaScript is supported without the need for extra downloads.)
There are other things you should enable as well:
- Go to
- Enable "Automatic redirection" (this is widely used)
- It is also recommended that you enable "Referrer logging"
For sites that require logging in, referrer logging is
important, but you should also:
- Enable cookies in )
- Set Opera to "Accept all cookies" for both normal and third-pardy cookies
- Make sure cookies aren't blocked under "Manage cookies..."
Opera also lets you control directly how Web pages are
displayed. This is done in and . The settings you should check
are:
- Set default zoom to 100%
- Enable "frames" and "inline frames"
- Set "Author mode" as the default mode in
- Remove any user style sheets in the "My style sheet" text
field in "Style options"
