What should I do about getting spam from Opera Web Mail?

E-mail spam targets individual users with direct mail messages. E-mail spam lists are often created by scanning Usenet postings, stealing Internet mailing lists, or searching the Web for addresses. So spammers will get hold of your e-mail address in one way or another, and there is unfortunately not much you can do to prevent this.

Those sending out such mails can hide a lot of information in the headers. Like when they Bcc: an answer; the idea behind this feature is that you will be able to send copies of e-mail to persons who might not want to receive replies or to appear in the headers. Blind carbon copies (Bcc) are popular with spammers, since it confuses many users to get e-mail that doesn't appear to be addresses to them.

If you receive a mail from an Opera Web Mail user, please forward the e-mail to abuse@outblaze.com with full e-mail headers.

If you receive spam from other e-mail services, you will need to contact these services directly. Abuse contact addresses for many domains can be looked up at abuse.net.

Another option is to use SpamCop, which performs the actual reporting for you.
