Some browsers can detect the presence of Opera on your computer. Therefore, it is often easier to just use that browser's bookmark import mechanism and import the bookmarks directly.

If you need to use your Opera bookmarks on a browser on another computer, you may want to export the bookmarks to an HTML file. Many browsers can understand bookmarks in this format, even if they don't understand Opera's internal bookmark format.

To export bookmarks from Opera, follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings (File for Mac) > Import and export > Export bookmarks as HTML
2. Choose the file name, and click "Save".
3. Import the bookmark file according to the instructions of your other browser. On Internet Explorer, you find this under File > Export and import. In Firefox, go to Bookmarks > Organize bookmarks, and from the Bookmarks Manager choose File > Import.
