Opera Mini technology powers the full Opera browser for virtually any mobile handset. The browser runs remotely on an Opera Mini server rather than locally on the handset itself. Access to the full Web with its full functionality requires only a small (230 KB) Java client. Opera Mini provides optimal usability and almost no barriers to entry for any Java-enabled handset, opening up growth potential for OEMs and operators offering almost any device.
Opera Mini offers a full-featured browser running on the server side (Opera 9.5) and a dynamic user experience and award-winning usability on the client side.
1. The user enters a URL or clicks on a link in Opera Mini.
2. The client sends a page request to the Opera Mini Server.
3. The Server downloads the complete page with all images from the Internet.
4. The Server renders the page completely, using the Opera 9.5 desktop browser core, adapts the content for the mobile client, and performs compression.
5. The compressed result is returned to the client.
6. The Opera Mini client displays the content incrementally, as it receives it.
