Installing the Adobe Reader plug-in to view PDF files in Opera

This article explains how to install the Adobe Reader plug-in for use with Opera for Linux. Adobe Reader is a program for reading .pdf files.

The simplest procedure may be to install Adobe Reader using your Linux distribution's package manager, but for the case that you prefer to install it manually, the procedure is the following:

  1. Download and install Adobe Reader.
  2. Choose the Adobe Reader as the default handler of .pdf files. From the menu, select Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Downloads, and select application/pdf. Click on "Edit", and make sure that Opera is set to "Use plug-in" .
  3. Open this example PDF file to verify that it works.
