Displaying HTML formatted e-mail

Opera Mail displays received e-mail as plain text if a text/plain part is available in addition to a text/html part. If the mail does not contain a text/plain part, the HTML part is displayed automatically.

It is possible to set Opera Mail to always display HTML formatted e-mail when available.

  1. Open any access point, such as Unread, by double-clicking it in the Panel
  2. Click the "View" button in the mail view window
  3. Open the "Display" sub-menu
  4. Choose "Prefer HTML"

By default, Opera Mail blocks remote images in e-mail. You can change this setting, but be aware that external images can be used to trace the e-mail, and spammers can confirm that you have read their mail. For instructions on how to set Opera Mail to load remote images in HTML formatted e-mail, please see the article Enable loading of remote images in HTML e-mail
