How do I upgrade Opera?

At Opera we always work hard to make our product as good as possible. Opera as a product therefore evolves all the time, gaining new functionality, features, and functions. Bugs are also removed, and based on feedback we get from our users we try to make Opera as user friendly, fast, and powerful as possible. Hence, the latest version is always the best, and we recommend that all users use that version.

To upgrade to the latest version of Opera, simply go to the download page, download the latest version of Opera, and install it. Since this should be an upgrade, make sure you install it into the same directory as the existing Opera installation. The default location for this is C:\Program Files\Opera (Windows) or Applications (Mac). On Linux and Unix, Opera will be installed under /usr by default.

Every Opera installation file will install a full version of Opera. However, when installing a newer version over an older within the same version number, the install will appear as an upgrade. Your settings will be kept as far as this is possible. The result will be a full version of the latest version with settings from the older version.
