A very large href attribute value in a Web page can crash Opera.

Severity: Not a security issue

Problem description

A Web page containing a very large href attribute value can cause Opera to crash.

This exploit causes Opera to access the wrong location in memory, so Opera is forced to quit. It is not possible exploit this to run arbitrary code.

Opera's response

Opera Software considers this to be a stability issue, not a security issue.

This flaw has been fixed in Opera 9.01.
