Authentication errors when sending or receiving mail
If you get authentication errors when sending or receiving mail, please check your authentication method:
- Go to .
- Select the account you are having problems with and click "Edit...".
- Under the Servers tab, check the Authentication dropdown. It should normally be set to "Auto" for incoming server. You can try selecting "Plaintext" for incoming or "None" for outgoing.
- Click "OK" to save the change and close the account properties dialog.
Examples of error messages:
- "SMTP authentication not supported by server."
- "Server dropped connection while authenticating."
- "POP3 server unavailable. Network problems?"
