Crash Logs in Mac OS X

Leopard:

On Mac OS X Leopard, the path to Opera's crash log is ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Opera_[date]-[number]_[machine name].crash. For example, a sample crash log might be named: Opera_2008-02-15-567123_johns_imac.crash. If you need help locating it, follow these steps:

  1. Open Finder.
  2. Click "Go" in the menu, then select "Go to Folder".
  3. Copy and paste this path into the Finder dialog:
    ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/
  4. Click the Go button.
  5. Finder opens the folder containing the crash log. Look for a the crash file with a date field that looks like the most recent.

Making an archive of the log before sending it to us makes our lives a little bit easier. This can be done by right-clicking (or Ctrl+clicking) the crash log file and selecting the Create Archive of ... action.

Tiger and earlier:

On Mac OS X Tiger (and earlier), the path to Opera's crash log is ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Opera.crash.log. If you need help locating it, follow these steps:

  1. Open Finder.
  2. Click "Go" in the menu, then select "Go to Folder".
  3. Copy and paste this path into the Finder dialog:
    ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/
  4. Click the Go button.
  5. Finder opens the folder containing the crash log. Look for a file called "Opera.crash.log".
