Importing e-mail from other clients

You can import messages to Opera Mail from:

  • Opera 5 and 6
  • Outlook Express
  • Thunderbird
  • Eudora
  • Netscape Mail (ONLY versions 6 and 7, including the Mozilla suite)

It is also possible to import messages from any mailbox stored in the generic mbox format, including older versions of Netscape.
To import e-mail from e-mail clients not listed here, you can use a third-party utility such as Aid4Mail.

To import your e-mail in Opera, select File > Import and export > Import mail and follow the instructions.

You can import different accounts, folders, settings, and contacts. More information regarding importing contacts from other e-mail clients is also available.

When importing from Opera 5 or 6, the folder structure will be copied to corresponding filters and the imported messages will be saved to the "Received" folder. Filtering properties are not imported. To continue using the classic folder structure for your e-mail, you will have to reconfigure the filtering criteria of the folders.
