Bringing the Internet to consumer electronic devices: Opera's powerful porting technology now available in Home Media SDK

Oslo, Norway - September 7, 2005

Opera Software today announced the release of its first Home Media Software Development Kit (SDK) to use the Generic Opera Graphical Interface (GOGI), Opera's porting technology. Opera's new SDK is designed to bring the full Internet to connected devices, and enables original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to quickly add the Opera browser to their products.

The Opera Home Media SDK is currently available for Linux-based consumer electronics devices, such as media players and set-top boxes. It is a small, lightweight and flexible solution that is pre-ported to popular architectures, reducing costs and time to market. GOGI is a feature-rich, high performance interface that enables developers to integrate Opera with their customized user interfaces and graphical toolkits.

"Opera's GOGI API has already been used to port Opera to millions of devices," says Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. "By making this unique solution available for the diverse consumer electronics market, OEMs can now easily include Opera's interoperable Web technology and offer a rich Internet experience on their devices."
