Opera and Texas Instruments team to bring the Web to Next Generation Devices

Oslo, Norway - May 15, 2007

Driving further functionality for digital video applications, Opera Software and Texas Instruments Incorporated announce the availability of the Opera browser for DaVinci technology. DaVinci technology is an integrated system of processors, software, tools and support so developers can more easily create a range of innovative, cost-efficient digital video products. With the full-featured Opera browser, TI DaVinci customers can now bring the Internet along with Web and AJAX applications to a wide variety of devices, including VoIP phones, digital cameras, set-top boxes and portable media players.

Recognizing the increasing importance of a browser on consumer electronic devices, TI selected Opera due to its unmatched Web browsing and performance on any device type, with any input device and any screen size. With this addition of a Web browser to the DaVinci technology offering, customers are able to create more advanced applications and functionality on multiple devices.

"A Web browser is a crucial component for our customers for both browsing and to bring Web 2.0 to networked consumer electronics," said Huy Pham, SoC marketing, TI. "Opera has extensive experience in delivering to embedded devices and is a flexible browser that adapts to a variety of uses. Opera has demonstrated an excellent Web experience for DaVinci technology."

"Texas Instruments is a great partner for Opera as our strengths complement each other. Together, we enable high performance Web browsing and applications in your hand, on your TV, or in your car," said Scott Hedrick, executive vice president for Devices at Opera Software. "Texas Instruments delivers a premiere solution that is driving the future of consumer electronics, and we are thrilled that Opera has been invited along for the ride."
