Opera Software today announced that Opera 9, Opera's latest Web browser, is now available for U3 smart drives. Opera 9 for U3 enables full Web surfing from a U3 smart drive, and allows users to take bookmarks, email and settings with them wherever they go.
U3 is a software platform company that has created an innovative technology that transforms USB flash drives from simple storage devices into U3 smart drives. U3 smart drives let consumers carry and run everything they need for a familiar computing experience from the smart drive, including files, software applications, personal preferences, favorites, profiles and bookmarks, as well as the ability to access this information from any PC.
"I bought a cruzerU3titanium two days ago. I've been having fun loading it with my favorite settings. Now all my contacts, passwords and bookmarks are handy on whatever computer I am using. I'm hooked," says jcfitz, a My Opera Community member. "This new U3 functionality is great. Leave the laptop at home!"
U3 smart drives are highly portable and secure. All U3 smart drives come with password protection, and when it’s time to move to another PC, all personal information remains on the smart drive, not on the host computer.
"With Opera 9 for U3, users will experience a new level of mobility in their desktop browser," said Christen Krogh, vice president of engineering, Opera Software. "Thanks to the U3 platform, people will now be able to carry Opera 9 with all its bookmarks, settings, and preferences conveniently in their pocket."
"The Internet is a necessity in order to conduct business and stay connected with friends and family," said Kate Purmal, U3 chief executive officer. "Opera 9 for U3 makes it possible for U3 customers to access the Internet from any PC with the browsing speed, security and usability Opera 9 customers have come to expect."
