Response to the Dialogue Origin Spoofing Vulnerability reported by Secunia Research

Oslo, Norway - June 24, 2005

Secunia Research reported on June 21 that it discovered a vulnerability in various browsers. The vulnerability can be exploited by malicious Web sites to spoof dialog boxes.

The latest release of Opera (Opera 8.01 for Windows, Mac and Linux), released June 16, is not vulnerable to this issue, as reported by Secunia. Opera 8.01 is the only major browser that is currently not affected. Users who have not yet upgraded to Opera 8.01 are recommended to do so.

Security is top priority at Opera, with a security track record matched by no other browser. With Opera, Web users are equipped with the best tools available for safe surfing:

  • anti-phishing technology
  • excellent support for security protocols
  • visual feedback on security levels
  • automatic check for security updates
