Opera 7.54 for Windows Released in German

Oslo, Norway - August 19, 2004

Opera Software today released Opera 7.54 for Windows in German, offering a redesigned Internet experience for Opera users in the German language.

Opera 7.54 is a substantial upgrade that conducts all user-favorite Web activities harmoniously in a sleek, fast, little package. Today's release introduces German users with a redesigned user interface (UI), a new IRC-based chat feature, an enhanced built-in e-mail client, and several all-around feature advancements. Opera 7.54, with its new advanced features, still weighs in at only 3.5 MB, maintaining Opera as the smallest full-featured browser available.

In keeping with Opera's design to optimize speed and producivity, the UI has a new, minimized look that improves display and provides easy access to features and functions in the new panel selector. Opera Mail, the built-in e-mail client, offers intelligent e-mailing with support for instant content search, a contact database, a newsgroup reader, automatic filtering, and now features a spellchecker and RSS newsfeeds. Opera's debuting IRC-compatible chat feature is located directly in the browser's panel selector and supports both private and group chats.

"We are rolling out our German release just in time to provide these savvy users with refined and new features in an all-inclusive Web browser," says Jon S. von Tetzchner. "As always, we have prioritized our German release to satisfy Opera users and provide new technologies to those who choose a better Internet experience."
