Opera Software today released version 6.30 for Sony Ericsson's P900, enhancing features and functionality to the popular full-Internet navigation of this handset. Opera's upgraded and free download is available on both company's Web sites. Since its first release one year ago, hundreds of thousands of users have downloaded and installed Opera on their phones.
New features include improved Small-Screen Rendering™ (SSR), scalable fonts, smooth zooming, and an added Internet search. SSR is the reformatting technology that makes the Web user-friendly on small mobile screens by eliminating the need for horizontal scrolling. The improvements to SSR with version 6.30 are specific to rendering frames and numerical tables.
"The Opera browser offers consumers a second-to-none mobile browsing experience on the P900 smartphones, and for operators, this further adds to the list of compelling applications that make the P900 one of the best ARPU-generating devices on the market," says Rikko Sakaguchi, Senior Vice President, Product and Application Planning at Sony Ericsson.
"Opera is particularly excited to deliver version 6.30 for the P900 as it is one year after the commercial introduction of SSR with the P800 model," says Jon S. von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software ASA. "Opera's enhanced build for the P900 complements our success in the mobile space and confirms our commitment to innovate in creating a modular Internet experience."
Today's release is also available as a free upgrade for owners of the Sony Ericsson P800.
