Full Web on Smartphone

New Opera version for the Sony Ericsson P800

Oslo, Norway - September 25, 2003

Opera Software today released Opera 6.2 for Symbian OS for Sony Ericsson P800, offering the thousands of Sony Ericsson P800 users the possibility to further enhance their Web experience. The update is available for free to all phone owners.

The new version provides new features such as further refinements in SSR™, particularly in zooming, full-screen mode, introducing improvments in frames and windows handling, a new "save image" feature, as well as numerous bug fixes.

"User reaction to Opera has been fabulous," says Lars Lindstrom, global product manager, Sony Ericsson. "The combination of Opera, the large colour touch-screen and variety of input methods available on the P800 is simply wonderful."

Opera's browser for the P800 has been downloaded by hundreds of thousands since its initial release in February 2003. The phone represented the first commercial breakthrough for Opera's Small-Screen Rendering™ (SSR) technology, which made the Web useful on small mobile screens for the first time by eliminating the need for horizontal scrolling through page reformatting.

"Opera on the P800 has been a runaway success, showcasing that users want full access to all the contents that's available on the Internet," says Jon S. von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. "Opera continues advancing at a fast pace in the smartphone market, and it's with great pleasure we now can share some of the advances we've made in development with our thousands of P800 users."
