Opera Integrates Google's Award-Winning Search Technology

Google now in the world's fastest Internet browser

Oslo, Norway - May 7, 2001

Opera Software, the manufacturer of Opera, the world's fastest Internet browser and Google Inc., developer of the award-winning Google search engine, have signed a strategic agreement under which Opera will integrate Google's advanced search technology into its search box feature on the Opera Web Browser. Available now, direct access to Google's powerful search technology enables Opera users to quickly search and browse more than 1.3 billion Internet pages.

Since the launch of its free Opera 5 Web browser in December 2000, Opera Software has offered Google as its default search engine for its search box. In the last four months, Opera Software has seen a dramatic increase in users; more than twenty thousand new users join the ranks of Opera every day. The Google search engine provides an easy-to-use search box that further enhances the Opera user experience, making searching and navigating the web easier and faster.
