Opera Software a 'Technology Pioneer' at World Economic Forum

Opera Software joins other companies as 'Technology Pioneer'

Davos, Switzerland - Jan. 31, 2000

Opera Software CTO Hakon Wium Lie joins over 50 CEOs from the top growth and most technologically innovative companies around the globe at the World Economic Forum sometimes dubbed "the summit of summits" to participate in the Technology Pioneer Program.

The Technology Pioneer Program is a new program developed in this, the 30th year of the World Economic Forum, for the world's fastest growing most technologically innovative companies of which Opera Software has been named a member. Opera Software joins other companies such as Wipro Infotech (India), Red Hat Software (USA), Africa Online (Kenya), TrustWorks Systems (the Netherlands), DeCODE Genetics (Iceland), Autonomy (UK) and Lernout and Hauspie (Belgium) to name a few. The Technology Pioneer program is a two-day forum dedicated to technology and its role in shaping today's society and the global economy.

The 'Technology Pioneers' will discuss the key success points of a technology pioneer, share their mutual challenges and how to surmount them, plus forecast the direction technology is moving and its impact on the global economy in a series of informal interactive meetings.

Opera Software CTO Hakon Wium Lie will also have the opportunity to meet with veteran leaders of the technological revolution. Leaders from companies such as Yahoo!, Sun Microsystems, Dell Computer Corporation, Novell and Vivendi.

"Opera Software is proud to be recognized as a Technology Pioneer" stated Hakon Wium Lie on the phone from Switzerland. "This forum brings together companies that are shaping not just the future of technology but the future of our global society and it is important that those involved in molding our future meet and develop a better understanding of one another. This presents a unique opportunity for Opera," commented Lie, "we are honored to be a participant here."

The 'Technology Pioneers' are recognized by their rate of growth and innovative power. Rate of growth is based on three-year percentage revenue growth and "innovative power" is based on research from industry experts, The World Economic Forum, and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.
