Opera Software and Den-o-Tech Int. Announce Partnership

Go to the Opera at 30,000 feet, or in your living room

Oslo, Norway - May 12, 1999

OPERA SOFTWARE and DEN-O-TECH INTERNATIONAL (DTI) proudly announce their partnership allowing to Browser-enable In-Flight Entertainment Systems and various Internet Appliances such as Web TV's, PDA's and Wireless telephones.

Opera's award-winning web browser is lighter and faster without sacrificing technical elegance or full functionality. This up and coming browser maintains compatibility with the large library of Netscape Navigator plug-ins and has a very small footprint since Opera excels at caching efficiency while minimizing dynamic link libraries. No wonder Opera is the browser of choice for millions of Internet users: it is efficient and reliable, as every browser should be.

The actual emergence of Internet Appliances will have a tidal-wave impact on how we use and access the Internet. In an industry with mammoth-players, the Opera Browser offers this new generation of Internet users an efficient, proven and independent engine to drive their applications.

"Den-O-Tech's expertise in In-Flight Entertainment Systems opens a whole new opportunity for Opera's exposure worldwide. We are pleased to be working with a partner who can help us penetrate the embedded market with interactive Internet-enabling software," says Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner, Opera Software CEO and Co-Founder.

Nicolas Belanger, DTI founding Partner, confirms that: "... our strategic alliance with Opera Software reflects our mission of becoming the leading interactive software supplier for the embedded industry. We, as a company, are always looking at the best opportunities in order to achieve our goal, Opera is a major one."

Involved in research and development of software solutions for embedded platforms since 1995, DTI possesses unique expertise in the design and delivery of software solutions for these specialized platforms and in particular, for In-Flight Entertainment systems.

In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) systems give long-haul air passengers the opportunity to savor a unique interactive experience with an Intranet, audio and video content and games directly at hand on their seats. Because of their high standards requirements, only a handful of software and applications are chosen to fly on IFE systems, the reference platforms for Graphic User Interface and Multimedia Embedded Systems. Over the next few years, there should be more than 4,500 planes fitted with these systems.
