Netier Technologies, a developer of end-to-end server-based computing solutions, has partnered with Opera Software AS to equip its thin-client access devices with the Opera Web browser, the industry's fastest and most efficient Internet browser.
Netier will license and distribute the Opera Web browser embedded on Netier's NetXpress series thin-client access devices as an option to customers. Opera's compact Web browser complements Netier's high-performance thin-client product line. Businesses using Netier's access devices can provide employees with Internet and/or intranet access from their local thin client desktop without having to first connect to a multi-user NT server. This ensures that web browsing does not reduce processing capacity at the server level.
"Adding Opera's sophisticated browser technology assures that Netier's computing products give value-added resellers the tools to stay ahead of the curve in delivering high-performance, cost-effective Internet connectivity to today's businesses," said Jim Crocco, Netier's president and COO. "With its space-conscious and highly efficient code, the Opera browser is a perfect match for NetXpress, the fastest thin-client on the market."
Opera's award-winning HTML programming code is lighter and faster without sacrificing technical elegance or full functionality. This up and coming browser maintains compatibility with the large library of Netscape Navigator plug-ins and weighs in at only 1.7 MB because Opera excels at caching efficiency while minimizing dynamic link libraries.
"Through today's agreement with Netier, Opera Software has extended its global licensing program with a strategic industry vendor," said Jon S. von Tetzchner, CEO and co-founder of Opera Software AS.
Netier anticipates that its embedded version of Opera will enhance NetXpress' position in many new arenas such as kiosk marketing and e-commerce businesses.
Based in Carrollton, Texas, Netier Technologies, Inc. provides cost-effective and manageable alternatives to traditional client/server computing. Netier offers a line of products including thin-client access devices and remote management software, network servers and external storage arrays.
