Subscribing to newsfeeds with Opera Mail is extremely simple. Just click the RSS link on the webpage and you are automatically subscribed to the feed. The feed will display under “Newsfeeds” at the bottom of your Mail panel. You do not need to have an Opera Mail account set up to use newsfeeds.

Newsfeed items are presented and handled in the same manner as email messages and Usenet news articles. This makes it easy to forward a newsfeed item by email to a friend, access stored items using the search field, label particular items for later follow-up, and so on.

Subscribing to a newsfeed

Subscribing to a RSS newsfeed is a simple way of being notified of website updates and news. Most weblogs, and an increasing number of major news outlets and other websites, offer newsfeeds to their users. Some newsfeeds are full text, allowing you to read complete articles in your newsfeed reader, while many will provide an excerpt and a link to the full story.

If a website has an RSS newsfeed, the RSS icon may be displayed in the address field, or on a webpage within the site. Click the icon to see a preview of the feed, then click “Subscribe” to go ahead.

Getting your own newsfeed

The easiest way to make your very own newsfeed that others can subscribe to, is probably to start a blog at My Opera, which automatically generates an updated newsfeed from your journal as you post.
