Lance Weiler
Masterminding the cinema game experience with Head Trauma

By Stephanie Jorgl

Culture hacker and acclaimed writer, director and filmmaker, Lance Weiler first made his mark on the film world with the creation and self distribution of his film, THE LAST BROADCAST, which grossed $4 million. But that was just the start of what his next project, HEAD TRAUMA, has now become: an alternate reality game experience.

Lance Weiler

Uniquely, Weiler's HEAD TRAUMA cinema game experience creates a new era for the horror genre by engaging its audience on city streets, at drive-ins, and finally by following them home as it screens in Los Angeles, Milwaukee, San Francisco, San Rafael and London. Soon after the theatrical dates wrap, the game is scheduled to invade people's living rooms as the film is released by Warner Bros via VOD and digital download.

"We've been able to assemble an amazing number of promotional partners to help support game-play, Stage 6, Xbox, Myspace, Eyespot, Twitter, and the Opera browser," says Weiler. "This is a ground breaking cinematic event that points towards a new type of storytelling, one that is a collision of gaming, films, technology and scares."

Head Trauma on Speed Dial

Lucky players and participants can get a leg up on the competition if they use the Opera browser, because Weiler has created a special Speed Dial Hot Pick for the the Head Trauma cinema game experience! Opera is also included as a hint in the third episode of the game.

Lance Weiler

"I use the Opera browser and Opera Mini," says Weiler. "By using the Opera browser and its Speed Dial set up, participants in the HEAD TRAUMA alternate reality game can create and use a cheat sheet that helps them quickly access sites holding clues needed to win this game." Speed Dial - a window of nine web pages in one is easily accessed every time you open a new tab in the Opera browser.

"I'm very interested in storytelling and gaming across multiple platforms," says Weiler. "My Speed Dial is a breakdown of some interesting cross media projects."

Download the Opera Browser today and install these links in your Speed Dial to experience an emerging new trend in cross-media entertainment.
