What has changed in Opera 6.02 for Unix?

This document details the changes made in Opera 6.02 for Unix since 6.01.

Changelog

User interface

• Configurable shortcuts. The shortcuts can be modified when Opera is running.
• Added support for Ctrl+W (delete word) when UNIX keyboard shortcuts has been enabled from pref. dialog.
• Esc-Esc for leaving fullscreen has now been replaced with a single Escape press as in Opera for Windows.
• Support for "Do not show dialog again" in message boxes for passwords in URLs and JavaScript reading password from forms.
• "Follow Symbolic Link" is activated by default in bookmark and contact file reading.
• Support for URL filtering (filter.ini)
• A new preference dialogbox look (treelist) is now the default.
• Can be modified by a flag in opera6.ini
• Classic Preference Look=0(x)|1
• 0: Treelist based look in the preference dialog box
• 1: List and tabbed tabbed layout in preference dialog box

• Nicknames will now work when "a", "ab", "abc" etc are defined when used from the nickname selector.
• Fixed a problem that could cause importing new bookmarks into the search-results folder.
• Fixed a problem where an inline search with no matches removed the parent access node as well. Nasty when not displaying the folder tree.
• Support for restoring search toolbar visibility when returning from fullscreen.
• Do not show Dictionary/Encyclopedia/Currency/Translation entries in search pref dialog box and hotclick search menu.
• The dropdown list is now long enough to show 16 pixmaps at the same time in the contact property dialog box.
• The font selector dialog box and the font lists in the pref. dialog have been modified so that the same pointsize is displayed both places. It could be misaligned by 1 under certain circumstances.
• Fixed some SDI related problems. It was not possible to send remote commands (from the commandline) to the second, third, etc mainwindow. Fixed the same problem for session management save requests.
• "Center Mousebutton Action" now takes the following values:
• Center Mousebutton Action=0,1(x),2,3,4
• 0=Open link (SDI and MDI)
• 1=Open link in new window (SDI and MDI)
• 2=Open link in background (SDI and MDI)
• 3=Open link in new window (MDI), Open link in new page (SDI)
• 4=Open link in background (MDI), Open link in new page in background SDI)

• Activated the "restore to defaults" actions in the preference dialog box so that factory default settings can be restored on a per page basis in the pref dialog box.
• Implemented a "compact toolbar" mode that is activated from opera6.ini We will save some vertical space (12 pixels) using this mode.

• Fixed a daylight saving problem that caused the time-stamps to drift one hour when saving bookmarks.
• Corrected a Daylight savings problem when displaying the cookie timestamps.
• Some fixes to the "-remote" command line argument parsing. We failed to raise the target window in some situations. Added a new command 'addBookmark(URL)' as well
• Support for "Do not show dialog again" in message boxes for passwords in URLs and JavaScript reading password from forms.
• Fixed a problem with the "Active bookmark" popup menu on the mainbar. It was lost when the button file was changed.
• The Alt+Space activated search entry will now respect the "Reuse window setting" and also open in a new window or in the background if Shift or Ctrl+Shift is pressed when the search is activated
• Fixed a focus problem. When a document had finished loading the focus would be moved to the document even if a popup menu was visible. Focus is no longer moved.
• The window arrow popup menu is now limited in width in the same manner as the bookmark popup menu
• Support for gestures inside the transfer window.
• Support for gestures inside the hotlist window.
• Support for Right Mouse Button+Wheel navigation everywhere.
• Support for canceling a gesture (press escape while recording the gesture)
• Fixed a problem when closing a window with a gesture. The new active window would be maximized even if it was normalized.
• Font region strings (international fonts) are now translated.
• Fixed a Ctrl+Mouse selection problem in the hotlist. It was possible to enter a mode where items were selected by pressing the Ctrl button without clicking the left mouse button.
• "Validate frame" will now always open the validator in a new window.
• Restore focus properly when closing "add bookmark" and "add folder" dialogs
• Add "link to bookmarks" and "copy link address" now works properly with relative links.
• Fixed an image open/show problem from the rightclick document popup menu. An image was opened in a new window instead of shown.
• Better news link support. The news URL parser accepts the following flags:

  %s (server) - Replaced by the server 
                  %g (group)  - Replaced by the group
                  %r (raw)    - The raw string. 
      The result will always start with "news://" and the generic server name 
      ("unknown.newsserver") will be removed if present.
                  %w (raw)    - As %r but without the "news://" prefix.

  
  Example: "knode [%r]" (in File->preferences->Applications)
• Support for passing raw mailto URLs. The new flags are: %r (raw) - The raw URL. The result will always start with "mailto:" %w (raw) - As %r but without the "mailto:" prefix.
• Improved formatting of selected test
• Fixed a problem that caused the displayed address not to be changed on back/fwd actions.
• Fixed problem that caused focus to be lost in the F2 box when the autocompletion dropdown box was removed. This happens if the window manager is running in a mode where it gives focus to popup windows.
• Fixed a problem that caused wrong window list history (ie a wrong window was activated when another was closed). It happend when windows were opened in the background.
• Fixed a problem that cause an infinite number of javascript error boxes to be displayed thereby blocking the UI.
• Improved /etc/printcap parsing to allow for a slightly modified file format.
• Fixed a password dialog problem (crash).
• Fixed an mdi manager problem that caused some problems for the transfer window when opened in the background. It was not possible to activate the window by clicking on it (except on the titlebar)
• When (by rightclicking) opening a page in a new window or in the background we lost the "Show cached images only" or the "Show no images" setting.
• Fixed a problem in the hotlist tabbar when a panel tab could become unaccessible after the text had been modified.
• Verify there is a valid link under the mouse before we activate it by the middle mouse button.

Document handling

• Fixed line break problems involving <pre> tags and fontswitching.
• Javascript can now be activated in panel windows
• Display full URLs (including the part after the '#' (if any)) in statusbar and tooltip when using keyboard navigation
• Support for fontswitching in ordered lists. Useful when CSS property "list-style-type" is "georgian" and so on.
• Fixed display problem that occurred when CSS property "overflow" was set to "hidden"
• Fixed crash in frames with CSS settings "visibility:hidden" + "position:absolute".
• Text properties "bleeding" to the next page.
• Added new root certificates for Entrust
• Concurrent file transfers of the same URL. It used to crash.
• Avoid infinite loop of an infinite number of ECMAScript error dialog boxes popping up, making it impossible for the user to interact with the browser at all.
• Fixed DOM related crash ( http://www.endemol.com/)
• Fixed text search problems (like searching for "scroll" in Opera's online help for keyboard shortcut (the thing that pops up when pressing Ctrl+B) etc.)
• Forms: fix for lost blur event when keyboard (tab) is used.
