Opera 8.51 for FreeBSD Changelog

Opera 8.51 for FreeBSD is available for download.

Release Note

This release is a recommended security upgrade for Opera users on Linux, FreeBSD, and Solaris.

The release is fully compatible with language files made for Opera 8.50.

Changes since 8.50

User interface

Added Answers.com search option, with 'a' as keyword to search from address field. The version number of search.ini has not been increased; the change will only be visible in fresh installs.

Miscellaneous

  • Fixed multiple stability issues.

UNIX-specific

Security

  • Updated Opera's wrapper script to not run commands included with URLs passed from other applications. Vulnerability reported in Secunia Advisory 16907. See also Opera's security advisory
    • Note that the update also modifies behavior for passed URLs, which will no longer work if quoted. That is, openURL(www.example.com) will work, openURL('www.example.com') will not.

Messaging

  • Solved IRC connection problems affecting users running Opera from .6 shared Qt packages.

Display

Solved drop-down menu issue where selected options would be blank and unselected.
