Virtual Mechanics Web Engine V2 (beta)
Easily create content for the web and mobile devices in one application.
Web Engine is Virtual Mechanics' Windows based visual website creation tool designed to be easy for beginners, but with powerful features for the professional. Its industry-standards compliant use of CSS enables pixel precision WYSIWYG design that enables you to position text, graphics, foreign objects and words exactly where you want them. With its built-in word processor, advanced layout options, integrated graphics capabilities, and interactive animation tools, it's easy to build professional looking sites without having to learn html.
Standard website development functions include a Form Editor, drop-down menu creation, thumbnail triggered pop-up photo galleries, a Foreign Object Editor and more. Built-in graphics support makes graphics and image manipulation easy. Web Engine’s geometry tools let you create images for HTML or SVG display. You can rotate Titles and graphics, apply gradient shading, set transparency, and perform anti-aliasing. Advanced Vector editing includes Polygons, Pies, Paths, Splines and Extrusion.
Web Engine includes a familiar word processor interface. In addition to text editing capabilities such as the selection of fonts, styles, and colors, Web Engine supports rich text, raw code, and Titles. Titles make it easy to format and render fully-scalable text with shading and anti-aliasing. There is a built-in spell checker, and a link editor that makes it quick and easy to create and update links site-wide.
The built-in FTP client uploads and publishes your web pages. All files associated with your site, including images and foreign objects, are automatically 'gathered up' and published to your webhost and placed in the appropriate directory.
Advanced Project capabilities allow project-wide editing of objects such as text, graphics, and links. Pages and objects can be set to a fixed size, or can be set to dynamically scale to the browser window. Web Engine also has the ability to create advanced interactive animation in DHTML and SVG for the Web and Mobile Devices. Animation enhancements include Key-Frame animation, Motion Paths and color and transparency animation (currently in SVG). There is also an advanced Behavior Editor to precisely control animation and user interaction.
The final release of Web Engine V2 is targeted to include the Opera Browser, enabling authors to easily develop content for both the web and mobile devices once, in a single application – no more coding for different platforms. Web Engine V2 will also include support for SVG Basic, as well as the ability to export standalone, interactive, animated objects for inclusion in web and mobile webpages.
Web Engine V2 (beta) requires a Pentium-class PC, runs under Windows 95/98/Me/NT4/2000/XP, costs $99.00(US), and may be purchased securely at http://www.virtualmechanics.com/. You can download a free, fully-functional trial version from the same web address.
