Gerđur Jónsdóttir
An interaction designer from Iceland, Gerđur has worked at Opera in Oslo for more than five years. She works closely with other developers in Poland and Sweden.
"Opera encourages you to be innovative. Here there's no risk in saying what you really think. I'm an opinionated person and feel I get the freedom to develop both myself and my ideas. If you have fun at work, you do a better job. It's as simple as that."
Reaching millions
Karl Anders Øygard
Karl Anders has been a developer at Opera Software for 10 years and is now the lead developer in the Core department in Oslo. As part of his responsibilities, he has also been working on projects in Ireland, Taiwan, China and Singapore.
"I was employee number seven, and the reason I' ve stayed since the very beginning is because what we do continues to stay interesting and important. Today, millions are using our products, and we make a huge difference and an important contribution to the development of the Internet. It's hard not to be enthusiastic about something like that. Working here is an aspiration to greatness."
Passion
Tatsuki Tomita
Tatsuki started out as a marketing trainee in Oslo, Norway, seven years ago, and later started up the Tokyo office. He has also worked in the Mountain View, USA, office.
Today, he manages the new consumer products unit and works out of Tokyo, Japan.
"Opera is passionate about what – and especially, why – we are doing things. We all share the same vision and know what we want to achieve as a team. Unlike many other companies, Opera is all about empowering the individual and all our users out there. New, creative thinkers are encouraged. When you get an idea you can run with it and carry it through."
International
Gautam Chandna
Gautam moved from India to work in Oslo two years ago as an Opera Widgets developer.
"It's awesome. I love what I do! I get to work with new technologies and stuff that no one has ever seen before. Also, my colleagues are not only the most talented people, but also have so much dedication. Here, people put their heart and soul in what they do.
