opera-for-desktop-extensions
So, you’ve downloaded Opera for computers, and life is great; still, you want more. That’s where extensions come in. Extensions are like superheroes or vitamins if you are into that. They perform magic on your browser and give it new capabilities. So, how can they help you to customize Opera?

3 easy steps to activate extensions
Extensions are made to satisfy and serve special needs that are important to you while surfing the internet. It could be making articles more readable, translating webpages automatically and much, much more. How to download extensions? Just follow these easy steps:

1.    Select Extensions from the main menu in your Opera browser.
2.    Click on the Get more extensions link, and – boom – you can search in a list of a lot of extensions for your browser.
3.    Pick the extension you want for your browser and click Add to Opera.

Once installed, the extensions, in most cases, appear by default at the right side of the combined address and search bar. Click the extension’s button to interact with it, or right-click it to change its options or view more options in the extension manager.

See how easy it is
Let’s show you how easy it is to install an extension. Say you want to save an article to read later or on another device. For this, I would suggest using the Pocket extension.

Opera 12 didn’t need to install extensions 🙂

    • Nekomajin43

      It did. I used several.

      • Piotr Karol Marek Żółtowski

Not necessarily 🙂 There wasn’t requirement to use extensions to have better usage with Opera as opposite to ChrOpera 🙂

        • Nekomajin43

          For you, maybe not.

        • Ryan Johnson

You realize that’s very opinionated, right?

          • Jademarisa

And what’s wrong with users having and expressing opinions of their own?

          • Ryan Johnson

When you say your opinion like it’s a known fact shared by everyone.

    • i dont know whatr version i have. HOWEVER, is downloaded today(sep 13 2014) on linuxmint petra with latest updates, and add the add-on
yotube video downloader, and i DO NOT GET A DOWNLOAD BUTTON./
WTF do the developers not test things? WTF is the main menu bar missing?
what happened to THINKING and designing programs, not just throwing together some shitty code?
(I am long time developer/programmer, and i THINK and write flowcharts before i write code),.
-1- HOW DO YOU download youtube these days? mpg/flv have given way to f4f and/or t4t (from memory and im pissed so cant remember) which are pieces of something that ISNT an entire video….
well, back to firefox/videodownloadhelper now that its fixed since yesterday.
im dumping opera if they cannot co-operate with addon developers, or vet or test code….
      thanks!

youtube is constantly changing the way video is loaded. you have to find a tool that is always actively developed. I switched to a command line tool called youtube-dl.

Sadly, they are Chrome extensions, not Opera extensions. And they are not the ones I need to make current Opera user-friendly and customizable again.

    • rseiler

      You got that backwards.

      • Jademarisa

        ? I don’t understand what you mean.

        • rseiler

I thought you meant to say (but inverted the product names) that the Chromium-based Opera doesn’t utilize Chrome’s extensions, of which there are about a million times more. I do know of the hack extension that sort of allows that, but still.

          • Jademarisa

I’ve also tried Chrome and Chrome extensions and they don’t make Chrome more usable or attractive at all.

I’m confused. Why give Pocket as an example when Stash does the same thing just as well… if not better?

    • pseudo555

      Stash will disappear soon
