Would it be possible to remove non active tabs background also for win7 users?

That win10 Opera skin with this design looks really good, but I think it could also look good (and maybe even better) on win7.

And its also much clearer like that, when only active tab has some sort of background.

  • Kurt Zon

    Thanks for the update………

  • yigido

My translation suggestion still waiting.. Passed 2 stable release after my reports but they are still untranslated. Nice job!

    • Leonardo Gomes

Suposing that it was approved, you may need to wait for 37.

  • Updated, Strange issue with the relaunch button not working on OS X even after going to Opera Task Manager and ending all tab processes, force quit and it did still update

Hi @disqus_gyot5BWczD:disqus, you can force it manually, by following the below steps:
      1. Open opera:about, and copy the path to the profile, close the Opera,
      2. Open your file explorer, and navigate to the profile folder, make a copy of the Preferences file (if you make a mistake, you can overwrite the original file with a copy),
      3. Open the Preferences file in your text editor, and search for “sync_button”, replace the fourth digit with the lower value, e.g. as shown below:the old content: "sync_button":{"timeout":"13113683717827860"}
      the new content: "sync_button":{"timeout":"13103683717827860"}
Save the changes, close the file, and relaunch the browser.

      • 7thGear

        Thank you

    • RafaellaG

You’ll find the “rules” to when the button hides/shows here:
https://www.opera.com/blogs/desktop/2015/12/opera-developer-36-0-2079-0-update/ under “Show the sync button only when needed”

      • 7thGear

Thanks Rafaella, i should read the Blog-Posts more carefully.

    DNA-45607 has not been fixed.

Steps: Enable the extensions to run in private mode, make sure they’re
set to display in the toolbar, run Opera with the “–private” switch.
Result: no extension icons in the toolbar.

If Private Window is opened directly from start menu Opera fails to load extension icons. Yes, extensions are set to load in Private Window I can see them work.
    OS: Windows 10 64 bit.
    Version: 1511

    • RafaellaG

      Can’t confirm this.
If I enable extensions “Allow in private mode”, restart Opera and then open a private window in Opera menu, all extension icons (Adblock Pro, Ghostery and Translator) are showing right from the adressbar and working fine.

      Win 10 64 bit Version 1511 (Build 10586.164)

      • K. K. VinayKumar

If Private Mode is opened from Opera menu it’ll load extension icons no doubt in that. Now try to open Private Mode directly from start menu.
Pin Opera to start menu —-> Right click Opera—-> Select “New private window” & now see the result.

        • RafaellaG

          Ok, you’re right.
If I start a private window that way, no icons are shown.
So it IS definitely a bug.

          • K. K. VinayKumar

Ah! Finally. I hope this bug will be fixed in next update.

          • RafaellaG

This bug is also in Developer 38 (build 38.0.2190.0). 🙁

          • K. K. VinayKumar

I guess no one opened Private Mode directly from start menu.

          • John Boehner Vaegina

I’ve been reporting this problem for over 6 months and the developers have done jack-all to fix it. They don’t care. All they do now is make new themes. Whoopity-fricken-do,

          • Leonardo Gomes

I wouldn’t expect it to happen, this bug has been around for quite a while.

          • hassanraza

Never ever think that opera team will listen to you.

        • Hindu Papanreu

Thank God someone told this. I’ve made bug report about it but 1st I got “Allow in private mode” as a response. And no answer for my 2nd report.

          Thank you 🙂 🙂

  • bwat47

The changelog indicates that DNA-50928 is fixed, but I’m still seeing the adjust speed dial animations option being totally broken when switching between areas on the speed dial page. About Opera shows that I’m on: 36.0.2130.66

  • Davide Repetto

    Hi Kornelia,
    Thanks for the update!

On a side note, Opera is still still not respecting the fonts rendering system settings under fedora 24, any idea if someone is working on a fix for this specific issue?
For examples of the problem you can refer to:

Im getting some direct injection hack to Opera browser version 36.0.2130.46, while using Enchanced Steam, Stylish and Ublock Origin extensions. I was browsing pinterest and without clicking it redirected to another website. There was no any link on the website, so it must be Opera security threat.

  • yigido

Chrome got update and now it is v50..When will Opera update for Chromium core v50? Thanks

    • Leonardo Gomes

Opera 37 is based on Chromium 50.

      • yigido

This is why I am asking. Opera stable is based on v49. Chrome stable based on v50.

        • Leonardo Gomes

Each version of Opera is based on a version of Chromium. So you will see an Opera based on Chromium 50 when Opera 37 reaches stable channel.

        • Cryio

          Yeah, so ?

  • Izer0

Oh guys. I modified behaviour of one extension and Opera erased it, including localstorage. Thanks God I have backup, but this is totally stupid behaviour! If you want repair extension, then do not delete localstorage of this extension, rename it, or put it somewhere to “error” folder. I found I can disable this “Extension content verification”, but you are enabling something that may do lot of wrong things! Think next time before you enable something that deletes files!

Stable 36.x works great on an old Windows XP systems (32 bit), but Chromium no longer supports this platform as of r50, so will Opera 37 and beyond continue to produce a version for the Win-32bit platform?

    • Dave-H

No, Opera have stated a while ago that 36 is the last version that will run on XP or Vista.
Vivaldi have just abandoned XP and Vista too, so only their very first 1.0 release will support those systems.
Opera have gone on record as saying that Opera 36 will still receive security updates for XP and Vista users, but no feature enhancements.
How long this will last remains to be seen when 37 goes to stable.

      • Cryio

I expect Opera v36 to get the security updates from 37 and 38, maybe 39, but that’s about it.

    • Leonardo Gomes

For Windows 32 bits, yes. For XP and Vista, no. 🙂 All Chromium based browsers will drop support for those OSs sooner or later.

    • Cryio

Why do you even still run XP ?

    • loooping8

But Maxthon Browser support XP 🙂

      • Dave-H

So it does, but IIRC even the latest Maxthon version is still using a pre version 50 version of Chromium, which could possibly not be completely secure now.

Flash still not working sometimes on many sites (including Youtube).
    O36 on Win10x64.
Sometimes audio is working but no video, sometimes both.
    Anybody else has this issue?
Started recently (couple of monthes ago).

    • Flash Player 21.0.0.213 ?

      • IgorT75

You’re right. Any known issues with this version?

        • None that I know of, in the Control Panel Flash Player you can set it so that Flash Player auto updates for you

Cryio Youtube still has flash player support and has for the last 2 to 3 years, it has become a fall back for video not using one of the HTML5 codecs https://www.youtube.com/html5 or when HTML5 fails or end user requests it (when on a desktop computer)

    • Cryio

Flash Player support has been removed from YouTube for 2-3 years now.

  • Does Opera not support going to a site via IPv6 in the address bar?

  • After reloading the page https://www.facebook.com/?sk=h_chr (when logged in) a few times, that one tab will hit 2GB of RAM usage

This version isnt have any internet connection with kaspersky 10 on win 10? i cant open any internet page with this version.

  • L33t4opera

The Opera 37.0.2178.32 has been promoted to the stable channel 😉

    • Dave-H

Well that’s me locked out then, as I’m still using Opera on Windows XP! 🙁
The downloads being offered for the current version on the Opera website still seem to be version 36 at the moment though.

      • RafaellaG

Opera 37 and greater doesn’t support Windows Vista or XP any more. So it’s O36 for you, until you change to Win 7 or above.

        • Dave-H

I am aware of that of course!
The download links from the Opera website for the current stable version still seem to be version 36 for some reason.

          • RafaellaG

You can try the link on the top right of this page:
LATEST DOWNLOADS – Opera (stable) – Windows (Offline)
It should be It’s definitely “Opera_37.0.2178.32_Setup.exe”.

But I don’t know if it works for you. That can answer only the Opera team.

          • Dave-H

            No, that’s 36 as well.
I guess the fact that I’m using XP is being detected and it’s serving me the last version for that OS, which is fair enough. I assume Vista users are getting the same.

          • RafaellaG

            There’s one other possibility:
            Try http://get.opera.com/ftp/pub/opera/desktop/

But I recommend to backup you user data before!
            (Usersyour_usernameAppDataRoamingOpera SoftwareOpera Stable)

          • Dave-H

Thanks, yes I can get 37 from there OK, but I know from trying the developer version that it will install but not run on XP!

          • RafaellaG

            Then it’s final. No O37+ for you.^^

          • Dave-H

Well I can always install 37 on Windows 8.1 as my machine is dual boot, although I’ll probably wait a while and then see how the developer version is doing.

          • loooping8

            Thanks it works! 🙂
