Today’s beta update offers just a few stabilization and minor UI fixes, such as:

  • Fixed too narrow scrollbar on Win7 systems with high DPI.
  • On OSX, the browser could not be closed when the user downloaded a large file. It is now fixed.
  • Also on OSX, swipe gestures when navigating back and forward with Magic Mouse are fixed.
  • Resuming interrupted downloads should now work correctly.
  • “Open all in new tabs” from Bookmark Manager subfolders should now work.
  • Crash when trying to display notification with notifications disabled in Windows is fixed.

For the full list of changes, which is just a tiny bit longer then the highlights above, please check the changelog.

Hi Aneta, thanks for the update and fixes, nice to see also, that the “Open all in new tabs” from BM subfolders is fixied as well 😉

  • INFINUM

    Can’t waiting for stable build

  • RafaellaG

Thank you for DNA-50566 Sort whitelist alphabetically 🙂

Print dialogue with “Simplify page” enabled still only shows “Loading preview…” – but without the protocol error after cancel.

In Dev 38 it now works though 😉
Win 10×64 (for Dev 38 also with Opera x64)

    • Marcin Mitek

Hmm, yeah, this requires some further adjustments. I see mixed results on different sites, thanks 🙂

  • iosaddict

It seems to be impossible to adjust the alarm clock. http://kukuklok.com
This happens to some flash video player on some other sites. Can anyone reproduce this?

    • Kornelia

We cannot reproduce this on OS X and Windows.

    • Aneta Reluga

I am sorry. This is unfortunately a known issue with Flash when DPI is higher than 100%. It is already being worked on.

      • iosaddict

It’s been happening for quite sometime now (since Opera 37 dev). Any ETA for this?

        • Aneta Reluga

Just yesterday I pinged the devs about the issue, and I don’t have any ETA yet. FYI it’s DNA-49644

    • Victoria

I’ve had the same thing since about a week or so ago. A bit frustrating to deal with.

  • Robert

going add a feature (Auto-Clear history) after closure opera?

    • Druszlak
    • Leonardo Gomes

      Like Private Windows?

      • Robert

in private mode does not work expansion

        • Aneta Reluga

You can enable any extension you wish to work in private mode, through the extension manager.

          • Robert

            how?
I open to private mode, but when opened extension manager returns to normal mode.

          • Robert

1)private mode can not make a major
2)icon sites on the tabs are not visible
            3)horrible color
I hope that in the future this feature will how in Opera 12)

          • Aneta Reluga

            1) Go to the extension manager in the normal window (not private).
            2) Take a look at the extensions installed.
            3) Check the checkbox “Allow in private mode”.
            4) Go to the private window.

You should have the selected extension available.

            The option is here:

          • Robert

I found it, bit I’d like to history preserved before closing opera.
if the story I do not want it does not mean I do not want use it.

        • Leonardo Gomes

          Expansion? You mean extensions?
For them to work on private windows, you need to enable that option for each of the extensions in extensions manager.

  • Alex

thanks so much for “Also on OSX, swipe gestures when navigating back and forward with Magic Mouse are fixed.”!

  • mikemanger

With this build Developer Tools causes a page crash when you click on a link (Windows 10).

    • Kornelia

      Confirmed. Reported as DNA-52049.

  • Heinz Witt

Angry Birds on Facebook is not playable with this version. 🙁

    • RafaellaG

Can’t check for myself. I’m not registered in Facebook.

      – Have you tried disabling the ad blocker or include Facebook in the exceptions list (Settings – Privacy & security – Block ads – Manage exceptions… …add [*.]facebook.com)?
      – JavaScript enabled? Cookies enabled?

      • Heinz Witt

I have tried everything. But it does not work.

        • Aneta Reluga

If your DPI is set to higher than 100% then this may be a known issue with Flash control alignment. The developers are already working on it, but with no ETA yet.

      • Tommy Wille

I salute you for that choice. 🙂

  • Victoria

Flash controls are still not working on windows 10 x64 and updated flash player. It’s been like this since the last update for me.

  • Hope the final version will be out sooner, cause this one a bit buggy. Crashes every time and causes my device running windows 10 to overheat. Patiently awaiting the full/stable version for review.

    • Aneta Reluga

We have implemented a few optimization fixes in this .10 release. Does it behave better than .4 for you? Or, maybe you don’t see visible difference? Please let us know. Thanks.

  • PropTop99

Since the initial release of 37, I’ve lost the left side panel of our company ERP site. It has drop down menus for navigation. If I ‘inspect element’ it LOOKS the same as in chrome or firefox but just shows blank space in Opera. If I can’t navigate THAT, then this version is pretty much useless for me. :/

    • Aneta Reluga

Your issue may probably be related to the one we already know about – DNA-50978. The developers are working on this because it affects a number of secure scripted pages. I have no ETA for solving this, unfortunately 🙁

      • PropTop99

Well that does seem unfortunate since Vivaldi seems to be fine….

  • Gloriam

Scrolling still doesn’t work well with Opera’s internal pages, like speed dial when having two opera windows open next to each other.

    • Aneta Reluga

Hi, what is your OS? I just added about 50 SD items, opened several pages in tabs, then then opened a second window, positioned both of them side-by-side (so that each takes half of the screen) and the scrolling works in both.
Or, maybe I don’t understand the issue correctly. What should I exactly do to reproduce? Thanks!

      • Gloriam

I’m on Windows 10 Pro 64 bit, and if it helps on a 15,6 laptop with a resolution of 1920×1080.

Looks like if I open a new tab that goes to the speed dial, I can’t scroll until I switch to another tab and back, even if I switch between the speed dial and the news page.
(Even if I’ve filled the screen with one window)

Strange thing is, it doesn’t happen all the time, and it started happening with the previous beta build.

Quickest way for me to reproduce the problem is to open 3 tabs in one window, on the first two I can scroll, the third I can’t until I switch between (for example) tabs 2 and 3, then I can scroll.

        • Aneta Reluga

Ok, thanks for the info, we will check.

          • Gloriam

I’m on my Desktop PC now, not having the same issues on here, Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit on a 24 inch 1080p.

But on my older second laptop also with Windows 10 Pro 64bit also has the same issue, 15,6 inch 1366×768.

I’m using the same extensions if that helps.

(I mentioned the screen size and resolution because I thought DPI might have been the problem, but I use the default DPI on my older laptop, sorry if this caused some confusion)

  • dome

Will be in Opera News for Serbian and Serbia?

  • christy

    Two very important things:

    1. Sometimes autoupdate is broken. It says I’ve got latest version – and the only way to update is to download new version from the blog. Add some button to manually force Opera to check for newer version.

    2. Opera.exe and OperaUpdater.exe are in the folder named after version – so with every update its name changes and I have to make new rules in firewall. Because of this I can’t recommend Opera for any regular computer user.

    • Leonardo Gomes

      1) You can run the online/network installer and it will download and install the latest build for the stream. Sometimes it also helps to fix autoupdate issues.

      2) Can’t you just allow access for launcher.exe?

      • christy

        1. But first I must know that it’s broken again. I only found by chance that I’ve got outdated Opera when I visited this blog. Opera told me I’ve got latest version everytime.
There should be option for manual override when automation fails.

        2. After update opera.exe and opera_autoupdater.exe wants to connect to the Internet (because name of the folder they’re in changes with every version). Without them Opera won’t work.
Just put these files where launcher.exe is.

        • Leonardo Gomes

          1) The option is to run the installer.

          2) What if you rename launcher.exe into opera.exe? Or maybe give access to all Opera’s folder?
Afaik, (almost) all Chromium based browsers uses that per build folder.

          • christy

            1. That’s what I did. But I don’t want to do it every time.

            2. What if you stop renaming the folder? Even if renaming that file did something I would have to do it after every update. Maybe not use any firewall…?

And they also leave folder of previous version, which I really don’t like.
But they don’t put these two files in build folder like Opera (but Opera has some files outside this folder so just move these two out of it too).

          • Leonardo Gomes

            1) You should not need to do it everytime.

            2) As i said, it seems that Chromium based browsers do it so you may need to ask Chromium to change its behaviour.

          • christy

            1. That’s why I asked for a button.

            2. I’m currently testing other Chromium based browser and it has exe file outside these folders and I don’t have to create new firewall rules with every update. Actually Chromium based Opera is the first browser ever I’ve experienced this problem.

          • RafaellaG

            1. You can use Opera:about. Almost every time you open that page for the first time it says that opera is up to date.
Reload the page. Opera then checks updates again.
THEN it should update if there is a new version available.

          • christy

Read my first post again. Opera was checking and telling me I’ve got latest version – which was not true.
It should update when there is a new version available – but it never did. And I don’t want to check blog everyday if the autoupdate is broken again.

          • RafaellaG

Therefore I said you should try to reload the page^^

          • christy

How many times? 1000? 1000000? Will it then miraculously start working?
Even newer version appeared but Opera hasn’t updated. No matter how many times I’ve reloaded.

          • RafaellaG

For me it then works every time.
Btw. I only asked you to try this. I didn’t said that THIS IS THE solution for YOU..
I only tried to narrow the problem.

          • Leonardo Gomes

Check if there isn’t anything in your computer (firewall, AV, etc) preventing Opera from checking and or downloading the updates.

          • christy

            No.
And if something was preventing Opera should tell me that it can’t check and not lie it has latest version.

          • Leonardo Gomes

Opera is not lying to you, it says that you have the latest build/version because it thinks you have it.

I would do a clean standalone installation and check if auto-update works on it. If so, then your Opera profile may be broken.

  • L33t4opera

    New build – Opera beta 37.0.2178.19 😉

  • Walkie Talkie

Will Opera 37 work on Ubuntu 12.04? As I know, Chromium (or just Chome only?) stopped its support on the 50th version.

    • Aneta Reluga

To tell the truth, I didn’t hear anything about suddenly stopping the support, so if it works now, it should be working as stable too. No information on 38+ though.
