Several days ago, you’ve seen a 35 announcement which provided some outline of our current efforts. Today we offer update to 35 version, with updated Chromium and quite a number of already enabled features which include:

Mute me baby

That’s right. No more surprises when you open a background tab and, out of a sudden, you hear something you didn’t expect. Now, it is possible to mute either the selected tab or the whole browser:

Mute tabs

Warning on active downloads when closing

Also, no more accidental download interruptions. When the user has unfinished downloads – active or paused – and attempts to close Opera, a warning will appear:

Active downloads warning

Sync and bookmarks duplication

Duplicates issue has been a problem we track for quite some time now. It was especially problematic in case your Internet connection was interrupted often. With the O35 cycle, we intend to fix this issue for you. Have you been hit by this issue, please check how this is working for you now. The fix is delivered on desktop browser for now, and if proved to be working well, it will be ported to all browsers (Mini, Opera for Androids, etc).

Opera menu

For more intuitive access to the menu options, we’ve also changed our main menu name:

New OMenu

Bookmarks bar – Yes! we do have it

It turns out many of our users didn’t know how to turn on the bookmarks bar, so we made it easier to enable or disable it, either while adding a bookmark or in the bookmarks manager general view:

Simple settings

To access most popular settings in single place, and make quick start easier for new users, we have introduced the “simple settings” page, where you can find all the most sought-for configuration options. This feature is currently hidden behind the #simple-settings-page flag. There are more changes incoming. Please go explore – how do you like it?

Linux RPM

Today’s Linux packages, in addition to the usual .deb files, are being delivered also in the RPM format. This should be good news for all RPM-based Linux distribution users, including Fedora, Mandriva and SUSE.

Thanks, Aneta, for this first Opera Developer version 35 release !

  • Ralf Brinkmann

Now it’s not longer possible, to jump to the button “delete download list” in the new download manager page (CTRL-J). One MUST use the mouse. 🙁

    • Kev87

The opera://downloads page has a new look indeed. Is this new in this version or was it already there in O34?

      • Ralf Brinkmann

I saw it first with this version. Yesterday, with the old version, I had the old look and handling.

      • Leonardo Gomes

It’snot exactly new but i’m not sure if it was enabled by default before.

  • L33t4opera

Hi Aneta, thanks for the article, and congrats to the Devs on the Opera Dev 35 – for the first time together with RPM packages! 😉

  • Jakub Duda

Change of Opera menu name is a real highlight! How long it will take to stabilize this feature for production use?;)

    • Aneta Reluga

Must be pixel perfect, whatever it takes. 😉

    • Marcin Mitek

6 weeks, more or less 😉

  • Ralf Brinkmann

Still no solution vor the Java problem. The Java plugin is there and is listed in opera:plugins, but if I want to open the SWR3 studio webcam (http://www.swr3.de/studiocam-beta?live=), Opera tells me there is no Java plugin.

    • Leonardo Gomes

Many sites are assuming that all Chromium based browsers no longer supports java and other npapi plugins.

      • Ralf Brinkmann

Yes, but what about opera://flags/npapi#disable-npapi ?

        • Leonardo Gomes

The problem is that those pages just see Chrome on the user agent and assume that npapi plugins are not supported.
If you use an extension to change Opera’s user agent into Firefox’s one or even to one with an old version of Chrome, java will probably work on those pages.

    • BK

Java will be no longer working in Opera.

      • Ralf Brinkmann

        🙁

      • xirit64

Is that an exception due to a bigger security risk of Java or will you include other NPAPI plugins in that restriction as well? For example I need using the (NPAPI) VLC plugin to watch satellite TV through the built-in webserver HTML page of their set-top boxes (amikostb.com, who is still licensing your Opera Presto browser).

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/max1cp?feature=mhum Maxim

Awesome list of features. The only thing that Opera really needs now is extension sync.

EDIT: Or possibly at least a list that shows which extensions your account has so you can download them manually. Right now I have to take a screen shot of my extensions to re-download them.

    • Vux777

…and (more important) extension storage!!! sync
to be able to sync extension data

  • xirit64

Great please also address the alphabetical sort of the search engines by default in the context menu, I have 16 of them and searching for the desired one every time is an immense pain. (I’m using Stable only so be quick please 🙂 )

  • Vux777

DNA-45333 Day at opera:history follows to UTC

    so no more this?

    • Aneta Reluga

Right, discrepancies should be fixed now.

      • Vux777

        there’s more…
internal history page is not updated if active and new tab is opened in background (for instance, middle click on bookmarks bar or middle click on history item itself)
only with left click on h-item, whole history gets updated

  • x a

Oh, come on. Don’t refer the “Basic Settings” user to ABP for an adblock extension. Provide him a collection to choose (uneducated as he might be ;)) from.

    • Vux777

maybe it’s payed advertisement …who knows

      • x a

Let’s hope what they pay is worth taking the bad PR.

      • BK

        It’s not paid advertisement.

        • x a

          Must be naïveté, then.

          • BK

We have been considering that. But given that this supposed to be really simple, we’ve decided to point one extension.

          • Nekomajin43

I have no problems with adblock plus, but I think it would be better to load a page with all the adblocking extensions. Something like you do with speed dial and sidebar extensions.

          • Herr Pietrus

First of all – it would be fair. if it sin’t paid advertisement.
            Personally i prefer AdGuard 😛

          • Licaon_Kter

uBlock / uBlock Origin are better though.

          • Vux777
          • Licaon_Kter

Looks like I’ll be closing the last Yahoo service that I use then.

Funny how we expect that they’ll consider each action they’ll do, since Yahoo is going down for a while now, yet their execs always choose the wrong one.

            Buh-Bye Y!

    • Ralf Brinkmann

      Where?

      • Vux777
        • Ralf Brinkmann

Huch! I don’t have this section.

          • Vux777

            😛
            ….
x a already wrote how to enable it

          • https://vivaldi.net/unity/profile/chas4/6-blog Chas4

opera://flags/#simple-settings-page Says it is Mac, WIndows, Linux

      • x a

Basic Settings page. This new gem is hidden behind the opera://flags/#simple-settings-page flag.

    • Luis A. Rosario

      #Aneta Reluga

      Some weeks ago I said:

1-Bring back content blocker like opera 12.17 ‘cuz adblock extension make opera unstable. (ram out of control)

2- Bring back internal proxy settings like opera 12.17. So Browser doesn’t need depend on system. (useful for domain network having proxies)

      • Aneta Reluga

Ideas and suggestions are constantly being evaluated for their feasibility and usefulness. As you track our efforts, you’ve already noticed that some of them are implemented, others are a bit different than the primary ones, and there are still others not to be found. They all are being read and thought about, and I could swear by that.

      • Licaon_Kter

        Modify shortcut to: opera.exe –proxy-server=”address:port”

    • beBoss

      Don’t use abp, use uBlock!!!!!

  • Vux777

what exacly does Reduce default ‘referer’ header granularity
    opera://flags/#reduced-referrer-granularity

    sites can still read it

    • x a

With that flag enabled, Blink/Opera should send a stripped down Referer:-header under certain circumstances.

      See e.g. this Chromium Issue.

      • Vux777

        ok tnx
        but not much of protection
still, any site can read it

        switch –no-referrer still better solution

  • Linh Nguyen

opera sometimes crashes when i open new tab or open a link on the same tab, win10x64 build 10586

    • Aneta Reluga

Does this happen only in today’s developer, or in the previous versions too? Thanks in advance.

      • Linh Nguyen

this happen since opera dev 34, i don’t remember build number, opera freezes and then restarts automatically

  • http://mustafahasturk.com Mustafa Hastürk

    What about .dnf packages?

    • Arjan van Leeuwen

There’s an RPM repository for both yum and zypper. If you install the rpm package, it’ll get setup automatically. If you’re worried about that, check http://rpm.opera.com/manual.html .

      • Angry Penguin

Any tips for adding this rpm to urpmi repository? For Mageia, Rosa or OpenMandriva?

    • Łukasz Jagielski

dnf is backwards compatible with yum when it comes to packages and repository metadata

  • Gustav Ekner

    RPM!

  • Angry Penguin

Yay, RPM for Linux. Big Thanks. Well done developers, well done 🙂

  • Eric83

Thanks for working on he sync duplication issue!

    • BK

      Did you noticed any improvement?

      • Eric83

I have Opera on four devices, and I haven’t switched among them enough yet to know. If there’s a problem I’ll let you know! (This is one of those issues that you don’t notice when things are working right.)

  • inDigazzZ

    Bookmark Bar

Like in Chrome please – enabled only in Speed Dial

  • Dmitry Kirin

Where do ideas of renaming the menu even come from?
I wouldn’t call it Menu. My way of thinking is that users open the menu when they want something done, so it’d rather be Functions or Actions. “Menu” implies that the user has already spend a few mind clicks figuring out, “where would that be? probably, under a menu… find+click menu…”.

Personally, I’d prefer a deep red button with or without the text “Opera” in white, the same as it glows after an update has been installed. In a similar fashion, the ‘main’ menu File in MSOffice is shown in blue/green/…, the primary colours of the corresponding application logos.

    • Michael A. Puls II

Lots of users don’t realize the button is clickable. “Menu” helps with that a lot. However, I’d prefer horizontal lines or something like Chrome and Firefox have even though “Menu” is more intuitive.

      • Dmitry Kirin

Yeah, I realise it’s all for discoverability.
There’s always some period before an UI element becomes so natural that it no longer requires a text caption. We don’t have text on window min/max/close buttons for a long time now, for example. I believe that single menu entry has already been around long enough to require no text caption. It’s just my feeling, though.

      • jedy123

I’m so glad I’m on a Mac. I’ve no Idea why Windows adopted a single dropdown instead of the traditional menubar!

    • Luis A. Rosario

btw, you can rollback to “Opera” turning off opera:flag Alternative main menu label

      hope to be useful.

      • Dmitry Kirin

Thanks, Luis. I’m okay with any menu label, though. My whining is more due to being a bit puzzled with such usability development. )

  • raphah

    nice update, thanks

  • Olli

Please make the mute all tabs button removable!

Edit: On OS X 10.11.1 I’m logged out on most websites and password manager isn’t providing passwords after the update.

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

I’ll take a look at this. Thanks for reporting.

      • Olli

This seems to be connected to the crashes caused by popups. After those crashes, several times all extensions were disabled for me.

    • Licaon_Kter

browser://flags/?search=mute#mute-tabs removes the button, but tab right click options still is present.

      @Opera devs: Is that expected?

      • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

It’s a bug, Windows specific. Mac is working as it supposed to – flag disabled – no option in context menu. Thanks for pointing that @Licaon_Kter:disqus.

        • L33t4opera

Hi Kornelia, it occurs also on Linux, but as for me, it can stay as it is, it has its benefits 😉

      • Olli

Yeah but that also disables the mute function.

  • OldHickory30

Is there a reason the share feature doesn’t allow messages, or email clients, which are checked yet grayed out on OSX 10.11.1?

    • Arjan van Leeuwen

You need to configure Messages.app and Mail.app on OS X to use these items.

      • OldHickory30

It is configured in OSX, and the share components work just fine in Safari but not Opera!

        • Arjan van Leeuwen

I see, so let me clarify: Opera doesn’t disallow anything, and also has no control over what appears in the share menu, it only passes data to the system on what to share :). Even the menu itself is created by the system, not by Opera.

I can use Mail and Messages here without any problem in OS X 10.11.1 from Opera, do you have any other idea on what could cause them to be disabled on your system? I have Mail setup with a gmail account and Messages, as usual, with iCloud.

  • drkrvn

Opera is becoming good again! nice to see!

  • Nico

Great new features! I can’t check right now, but is there also a keyboard shortcut to enable the bookmarks bar? If not, could you please add one?

    • Stanislav Stratil

Not by default, but you can go to settings and setup your own shortcut for it.

      • Nico

        Thank you!

    • Vux777

      opera://settings/configureCommands

search for “Show bookmarks bar” (or similar in your lang)

      • Nico

        Thanks a lot!

  • Leonid Frolov

Developers! You’re new dupplication detection feature did nothing with 9 speed dial doppels in “other speed dials” folder. Also I recieved a lot of dupplicates on my current speed dial then signed up in sync.

    • BK

Are you for sure talking about this developer build version?

      • Leonid Frolov

        Yes, I am. Win7.

        • BK

          Still the same?

  • Nekomajin43

That’s a nice build! But it seems a little sluggish for me when I open internal pages.

On the other hand, have you considered restructuring the whole main menu? Now you are making the GUI easier to understand for the average users. But you have a very complex, crowded and redundant menu. You should get rid of the unnecessary items, like add to speed dial and bookmarks, because you have a separate menu for that. And you should convert the submenus into dropdown sections. It is easier to click twice than move the cursor in a thin line to open a submenu.

    • BK

      Thanks for sharing that.

    • SKS

Add to speed dial, and bookmark comes with right-click on context menu, and i love that. very easy+fast.

      • Nekomajin43

I am talkink about the main menu…

  • Druszlak

Would be great to have option to remove MuteMeBaby button and leaving option to mute particular tabs.

    • Cary Fries

      I concur.

    • taneli

That, definitely, also one for the Sync login button, if someone doesn’t use it at all.
(Note, an _option_, not a flag)

      • Aneta Reluga

Yes, you mean it should be controlled via a checkbox in settings or something like that. We are trying to strike the balance between clean settings page and clean main UI, and thanks for sharing your suggestions.

        • taneli

Yes, a checkbox, you can always hide those behind the “Advanced Settings”, and not normally show them, if you want to keep it clean.

        • Nekomajin43

Sometimes it’s worth to take a look on Firefox.

        • Herr Pietrus

RMB on the bar will be good too.

    • BK

      They will be removed.

  • Dark Magician

Audio indicator was and is better with bars.
Also I don’t see why we need Menu name, don’t keep dumbing it down.

    • Leonardo Gomes

      The bars are still there.

      • Kev87

But they look a bit different i think

  • Marko Koivuniemi

“What browser do you use? I have this new Menu. It’s great. “

    • Mikolaj Boc

Hehe 😉 Well, no major brand displays the browser name currently, so it’s likely that you just got used to the name being displayed on the button.

There’s also a certain browser that may be called ‘Free porn’ if you happen to visit a page named such. They do display the page title. That would be even funnier. ‘What browser do you use? Free porn’ 😀

  • Cary Fries

Love the mute feature. If I may, the groovy thing about the chromium analog is that you can mute the tab without actually activating said tab, and taking focus off of the foreground tab. That would be even more useful, in my opinion.

    • Nekomajin43

      +1

    • xirit64

I thought that is happening with this build also, no? You can mute it without bringing the tab to the foreground.

      • Cary Fries

Oops…I should have specified a pinned tab. I almost always pin my streaming audio and never actually tried to mute a regular tab. You are correct that it works as I described in a regular tab. Not so in a pinned tab.

        • xirit64

haha no problem 🙂 Anyway did you or anyone notice that if you pin a tab and then mute it then you can’t unpin it? 😛

          • Aneta Reluga

I disagree, you actually CAN unpin – you just have to move to inactive tab and use the context menu on the now inactive pinned tab – then you can unpin, mute, unmute… 🙂
We are working on this feature to make the experience better because I know it is not obvious, but as you can see – pinned tabs are significantly smaller and it’s sort of challenge to introduce a change which would be satisfactory.

          • xirit64

well yes if you look for a spot outside the speaker you can bring up the menu also, however this and your other solution are as expected not optimal 🙂 Right-Click on the pinned tab, indifferent of what the speaker icon shows should bring up the menu as it is for every other tab 🙂

  • Marc

Since you’re working on the tabs right now (the mute feature, which is great!), I bet you could easily add tab stacking for the next build 😉

    • Kev87

Not to speak about the tab-cycling mouse gesture 😉

      • Marc

        Yes!

  • Kev87

When the heart menu is enabled or you just hover over it, it is not completey filled with a grey color as you can see marked with the arrow on http://imgur.com/XTzDYcy. This happens in O35 on windows 10. In Opera stable everything is fine.

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

      Good eye, thanks!

      • Mikolaj Boc

        Better visible on hidpi.

      • Stanislav Stratil

If you are now pixel hunting, I would like to suggest you, to make main toolbar little more thin. There are like 4 or maybe 6 useless pixels on height, and it makes the lines around the url field look too thick.

  • Kev87

Also the button to go fullscreen in the menu is not working anymore since Opera 33 and it is still broken in this release. The f11-key works, but the button does not.

    • Leonardo Gomes

      It’s working here.

      • Kev87

Ok now it works again after a fresh installation, I don’t know what the problem was 🙂

  • Spideymang

Hope you can make this happen in the stable version, you rock!!

  • Паша

Before asking your users to experiment with bookmarks it would be great if you could provide a way to backup/restore the bookmarks locally!
FYI, the bookmark synchronization does not work for me at all, the only way to make them appear on second computer is to copy and paste tem in different folder, then they start synchronizing and, yes, somehow sometimes I get the duplicates! That’s so discouraging.

    • Leonardo Gomes

You can backup the bookmarks file. Or, even better, you can backup the whole profile folder.
See Menu > About Opera for the path.

    • Michal Zajaczkowski

Regarding synchronization problems, try resetting your account as described here: http://www.opera.com/help/account#reset . Note that you will have to log into synchronization again on all devices.

  • Joe438

I was going to ask for clarification on how the duplicates option was fixed to see if there was something that we needed to do on our end to clean up the duplicates as I had many duplicates in my version of Opera Developer (35.0.2052.0), but after checking to see that I had the latest version of Opera Developer closing the browser down and relaunching the browser I saw that the duplicates had vanished. Yay!

In other words the duplicates did not disappear right away, but after a couple of minutes they did disappear. I’m not sure if it had to do with me relaunching the browser though. Probably not.

I do like the multiple mute options that will hopefully become available soon. I also notice that the various settings in Opera:settings, etc. are now in bold font which is a welcome improvement. Renaming the Opera tab to Menu sounds like a good idea as well.

I have the #simple-settings-page flag turned on and I plan on keeping it on even after it goes to stable so that I can see how it evolves over time, but I probably won’t use it all that much unless there is an option to customize what is in it. Why? Because the search option works so much better for me to quickly find what I need.

Overall Opera 35 looks like it’s going to be a nice new version with lots of cool new options to play with.

    • SuperTommy

I think it iterates through all your bookmarks to find duplicates, then remove them after the cycle. So the more bookmarks, the longer it takes, even with few duplicates. And most likely at browser startup.

  • Stanislav Stratil

So, it will not be possible to have duplicate bookmarks anymore? Im asking, because Im actually using duplicate bookmarks – I have some intentionaly bookmarked twice or thrice, and I would like it to stay like this.

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

When you’ve got the same bookmark saved in different places, eg bookmarks bar and speed dial, those won’t be deleted. Bookmarks duplication is a nasty bug we’re dealing with and starting to succeed 🙂

      • Stanislav Stratil

Good, thank you. Maybe it would be nice to show somewhere, how many times we have bookmarked some website. For example:
        – Number on heart icon
        – Number in heart menu
        – Number on bookmark dial

        • Leonid Frolov

I would like to see ALL sync procedure as dialog window and have an ability to control it. Just see how it released in FreeFileSync app. To have something like that – it would be really great!)

  • http://pavelkouril.cz/ Pavel Kouřil

Tab with Facebook open keeps freezing with this build for me.

    Windows 10, x64.

Is this a known issue or not?

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

We cannot reproduce this. Maybe some more details about usage?

      • http://pavelkouril.cz/ Pavel Kouřil

I did a little bit more testing – and it always happened when message arrived and tried to play the notification sound. Title of the page got updated with the (1) suggesting number of new messages , but the page froze and didn’t display the message and closing the tab took forever. Restarting browser didn’t help and turning off the flag for muting tabs didn’t help either.

Also, at the same time, I couldn’t play YT videos (they just didn’t load) or use 8tracks (neither via browser or their windows app), but playing a video file on my PC via MPC-HC was OK.

I suspect some kind of playback getting “stuck” and Opera not being able to cope with it?

I unfortunately didn’t think of trying to reproduce the FB stuff in Chrome to see if it’s an Opera or Webkit issue and the issue is not present anymore after reboot of whole PC.

If I stumble on this error again, I’ll definitely try to reproduce it in Chrome, silly me for not thinking about it. 🙁

The 64bit Linux .deb Link redirects to »opera-developer_26.0.1656.5_amd64.deb«

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

It’s because you’re downloading .deb files on Windows… It’s a bug and we’re aware of that.

      • pgml

Actually I am using Debian/KDE or what exactly do you mean?

        • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

Oh, sorry. I thought you’re doing this on Windows. Yes, I can see this issue. We’ve going to fix this asap.

      This should be fixed now.

This version of opera developer does not: every flash content redirects to Adobe to update the flash player, which cannot be done as Adobe stopped its flash development for linux at version 11.

This happens even after copying libflashplayer.so to /usr/lib/opera/plugins and restarting opera.

    • Black London

Flash has died for me too.

    • Łukasz Jagielski

Hi, you need pepperflashplugin-nonfree:i386 package, it might get outdated from time to time since debian doesn’t bump its version with pepper flash updates in google-chrome. (sudo apt-get install –reinstall pepperflashplugin-nonfree:i386)

      • Black London

I’m having the problem on 64 too

        • Łukasz Jagielski

The same rule applies to 64-bits, it’s pepperflashplugin-nonfree:amd64

          • Black London

            That fixed it. Thanks.

      • JSJB

I had pepperflashplugin-nonfree installed when I got the problem (which went away when I simply removed version 35 and installed version 34 again). Should I also remove the old flashplugin-nonfree?

        => apt-cache policy pepperflashplugin-nonfree:i386

        pepperflashplugin-nonfree:

        Installed: 1.8.1+b1

        Candidate: 1.8.1+b1

        Version table:

        *** 1.8.1+b1 0

        500 http://debian.lcs.mit.edu/debian/ testing/contrib i386 Packages

        500 http://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/20150904/ testing/contrib i386 Packages

        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

        • Łukasz Jagielski

Ok, you should probably just run:
          sudo update-pepperflashplugin-nonfree –install

          Reinstallation is not necessarry

          • JSJB

            Thanks Lukasz!

            The problem was fixed with:
            update-pepperflashplugin-nonfree –install

and now opera-developer_35 works fine with flash.

Would this be a worthy addition to the post-install script for the package?

          • Łukasz Jagielski

            We will investigate it.

    • Łukasz Jagielski

Btw there is now official pepper flash package from adobe in Ubuntu partners repository, which should be up to date with flash releases. I know not everyone uses Ubuntu, but just letting know https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/adobe-flashplugin

Adding a mute button (and a share button not so long ago on Mac), the right side of the address bar is becoming rather crowded. Can we, once and for all, get an option to properly customise the icons here. What I mean is the option to remove these icons if we want and to edit the position of all icons including extensions.

    • Nekomajin43

      +1

    • BK

The icons will be removed from there, most probably. We are looking into this.

      • Nekomajin43

But the point is that we want to decide what to remove and what not.

        • jedy123

Exactly! An option to customise the buttons on the address bar seems to be a very popular request amongst Opera users.

      • Ghirahim

I want to move them, not REmove them.

        • BK

OK, then next time you might want to REconsider your request to move something 😉

  • jedy123

Is there a way when using the share button (Mac) to have it only display the web link without the (sometimes lengthy) website name and the Opera link? Every time I’ve used it I have to delete this extra information which is irritating.

To help illustrate what I mean, here’s a link to a jpeg I created:

  • Julius Schwartzenberg

Is this version based on the Blink engine? Is it possible to download the source code?

    • Leonardo Gomes

Opera is based on Chromium since version 15. And no, Opera is not open source.

      • Julius Schwartzenberg

What about the rendering engine? Chromium’s rendering engine is LGPL. That’s why I would expect the source to be available as well.

        • Arjan van Leeuwen

It’s mostly BSD-licensed, only parts that come from other LGPL-licensed libraries are LGPL. You can download Opera’s changes to LGPL-licensed parts here: http://sourcecode.opera.com .

On latest Windows 10, choosing a dark accent color for the title bars makes the new tab (+) and recent tabs buttons hard to see.

    • Marcin Mitek

Thanks for the report. We are aware of it and working on making them more visible. Stay tuned 🙂

  • 433gdf

From a commercial point of view Opera is still too close to Google Chrome.

    • http://ratkutti.wordpress.com/ Karthikeyan

Which is a good thing IMO.

  • Submerstep

Please, add the option “Pill / Unpill all tabs”.

    • ayespy

“Pill?” I think you mean something else. Can you explain?

      • Submerstep

Oh, I’m sorry hahaha, I meant: “Pin / Unpin all tabs”.

        • Marko Koivuniemi

I thought something Matrix-related. But I couldn’t decide is Opera “painful truth of reality (red pill)” or “blissful ignorance of illusion (blue pill).” Maybe first one is Chromium-based and latter one is Presto-based Opera.

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

Pin tab option is available in tab’s context menu (right click).

      • Submerstep

Yes but individually, I propose an option to pin or unpin several tabs at once.

        Sorry for my poor English.

  • Hetai-Na

Please, release 64-bits build for Windows!

  • Abdolahi

i really really need to sync two or three of my speed dials so that any change to one of them , make change to others !
i need to chose which speed dials are the same and i need them to be one
i don’t need to sync them separately as other speed dials
so please add this to future updates and make it possible to chose which speed dials are same and sync them together and which ones are separate and sync them as other speed dials
    thank you
    and sorry for bad english

  • JSJB

I really miss the configuration option in the old Opera v12, pre-Blink, that allowed for a left click on a bookmark to open always in a new tab. It wasn’t default behavior but could be setup that way and was more convenient than a middle mouse click.

  • Hylian Ticipated

Back then, Opera was named so because it made your heart sing. Now, Opera is named because it’s trying to seat a massive audience in the top-right corner of your screen allowed only for 1 tab to take the stage before things get squished and overcrowded. I’d like to kick out some annoying audience members ruining my show.

What happened to the beautiful harmony?

    Still on 32.1918 or whatever.

  • nutcracker

I’m going to ask one more time: the tiles (folders & inside tiles) cannot be arranged. No matter how I position them, after re-opening Opera, they occupy their initial positions. Sometimes they are positioned as they should and, in a second, they change places in front of my eyes! Is it normal? Have you given them some kind of sorting that cannot be changed by the user? Is there an experiment value I can change to get them to work as I want? Is syncing the problem? Is there a problem or do I have to get used to it?

    • Leonardo Gomes

I’ve just rearranged some tiles (inside folders) and folders and the changes were kept after a restart.

Sync is enabled here so it doesn’t seem to be a problem.

Have you checked it a new, clean profile? And with extensions disabled? And with flags set to default?

  • commenter-262

Can this new version finally do everything that Opera 12 could do?

    • Leonardo Gomes

It will never happen, they don’t want to clone old Opera.

    • Apocalypse

      Take Vivaldi and dont cry…

      • Amazingeneer

Why not use both? I have installed them side by side. Opera is still a great browser. The devs just changed its direction to a lightweight and fast browser but it still comes with nice features like Opera Turbo. For the features of old Opera I now have Vivaldi which brings a lot of features out of the box.

    tab hibernation experiment deprecated?

Still can’t seem to get my tabs to appear on the left hand side…

sometimes on Gmail I can’t click upper buttons from screenshot
    http://prntscr.com/9608av

this also happens on FB, twitter…probably on all sites where browser.js do something

on console (from Gmail tab) there is an error
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot redefine property: userAgent
    browser.js:254
    http://prntscr.com/9609zu

    …maybe it helps…

    • Aneta Reluga

I passed your info for further investigation; it would be most helpful to find a good reproducibility path since I personally see this for the first time (and I use Gmail webmail on a daily basis), but we’ll do our best anyway.

      • Vux777

I think this is somehow related to that bug when it’s not possible to type in textboxes or so…

        • http://alexey.shpakovsky.ru alex_shpak

hi, I’m the one who got that info forwarded to.

Can you please tell us what error messages appear on another websites?

Also, AFAIK, we don’t have patches for twitter, and “not possible to type in textbox” issue is probably caused by the patches not working 🙂

          • Vux777

I’m sorry, this is the first time i looked at console when that happened

I’ll try to cache it next time
But yea, same thing on Facebook and Twitter happened couple of times
that static top bar was unresponsive,
same with Opera bookmarks bar, click (and hover effects) didn’t worked

          • Vux777

            update:

at first, I thought that there is something wrong with those bars on FB, twitter, also buttons menu on Gmail
but it turns out that problem is something else

100 – 150 pixels under the address bar are unresponsive when that happens
this bugged area also covers the bookmark bar, which is part of the UI (can’t click on it, no mouse hover effects)

it’s like there is some invisible element covering upper area
            something like this

btw, happens in latest beta too

  • qternet

Ctrl+Tabbing is terrible in new versions. Can you at least put a switch into options? I need to switch tabs quickly not choose them from some small menu.

    • Ralf Brinkmann

      Very quick one-finger-switch: “1” or “2”!

      • xirit64

That’s not the best option though if you have a speed dial tab opened somewhere 🙂 Also, I think it’s solved already (he posted it everywhere lol) http://www.opera.com/blogs/desktop/2015/11/opera-stable-33-0-1990-58-update/#comment-2375100468

        • Ralf Brinkmann

I don’t understand. Why? That’s what I always use for ages.

          • xirit64

The cursor in an already opened Speed Dial tab is in the address bar, so if you keep pressing 2 or 1 to move between tabs then eventually you will stop at the first speed dial tab you will be confronted with where you will see 1111111 or 222222 in the address bar 🙂

          • Ralf Brinkmann

Press ESC and then “1” or “2”. 🙂

      • L33t4opera

        It’s time for truffles 😉

        • Ralf Brinkmann

Thank you very much, I was outside in the nature truffels. 🙂

          • L33t4opera

Cool Ralf! you’re welcome, it’s even better, natural truffles are the best! 😉

    • Matej Szendi

You must change shortcuts like I do. Current setting is really stupid, because there is no easy way how to change this setting. And Opera don`t sync your shortcuts, so you must do following steps after every reinstall…

      1. Go to Settings > Shortcuts and click on Configure shorcuts. Type “tabs” in search field.
      2. Clear shortcut for “Cycle backward through tabs” and “Cycle forward through tabs”.
      3. Bind shortcut for “Switch left through tabs” to “Ctrl+Shift+Tab” and “Switch right through tabs” to “Ctrl+Tab”.

In this build I getting “Page crashed” when trying to use libffmpegsumo.so to get H.264 support using this instruction (see comments):
    https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/opera-developer/

This library from Arch chromium package worked at least since 33 dev builds. Now I getting “page crashed” with this lib or can not play videos or listen music if using “stock” library.

Earlier I was mentioned that there is no extra chromium codecs package in Gentoo Linux:

Not I’m not even able to use this kludgy workaround.

I am on opensuse Leap 42 with Opera 35, and im wondering if there is a way to activate Flash on it. I tried to use NPAPI but no results. Some idea?

      Opera uses ppapi Flash plugin.

How do I remove the annoying mute button on tabs? I used to be able to do this by setting a flag. I can’t find the flag any longer.
