DNA-16001 [WP1] Support proprietary codecs in Web Audio API

What codecs are you intending to support?

    • Arjan van Leeuwen

This is not a new fix, but an old task that received an update. This is our placeholder for supporting formats like MP3 in web audio.

  • Ralf Brinkmann

After installing the update I still (or again) have all bookmarks twice in the bookmarks manager. And twice in the trash. It did not help to empty the trash, there are always icons from already deleted bookmarks. How can I delete the content absolutely and finally?
Further I still don’t see my synchonised speed dials in the mobile Android Opera. Is there a special time I have to wait until I see them or a possibility to force this process? All synchronising possibilities are activated in this Opera developer version (Bookmarks, Speed Dials, Passwords…)

    • tomaasz

try to use V7 Bookmarks add-on and use “move duplicate bookmarks to trash” tool

      https://addons.opera.com/pl/extensions/details/v7-bookmarks/?display=en

    • Robert

For me sync is now working. I can see my Android device and all other synced speed dials. But I don’t get one thing. Why I can’t see my current device inside other speed dials sync. I think sync should be completely redesigned. I don’t like current sync, I have 2 smartphones, 1 laptop and 2 Desktop PC’s and on every PC is stable, beta and dev Opera and on mobile phones are beta versions. Imagine how much folders I have inside my other speed dials folder.
It should be like chrome sync. Something like PC bookmarks, PC speed dials and mobile bookmarks and speed dials, and thats it.

      • Ralf Brinkmann

You mean, you can see all your desktop pc speed dials also on your mobile Android phone? I don’t. In the bookmarks manager here on the desktop pc in “Other speed-dial entries” I see my smartphone 3 times meanwhile (after each update 1 time more), but that’s not what I want.
In 31.x dev it worked perfectely.

        • Robert

I can see them on the phone. Now is working normally. I don’t have duplicate folders (for one device and browser). But I don’t like current mess. I have 11 folders in other speed dials. all my PC’s are named as Robert-PC and there is 9 folders with the same name. It’s a pain in the ass to find proper folder for current device, only the phone is easy to find because it is named as phone model.

          • Rafał Chłodnicki

You should be able to rename those folders in ‘Other speed dials’ folder.

      • bwat47

        > But I don’t get one thing. Why I can’t see my current device inside other speed dials sync

Because that wouldn’t make any sense? Your current device isn’t an ‘other speed dial’, You can view your current devices speed dial in the regular speed dial folder.

    • Ralf Brinkmann

Oh, I think it was my own mistake and I have to take back the second point. The speed dials are there, but I didn’t find them. In the old version I saw all speed dials on the smartphone in at once in the start page, when I opened Opera. Now I have to click on the red “O” first, then on the very right icon, then on Brinkmann-PC and then I see them all. Then I have to import them all, to have them on the normal start page. I thought, after synchronisation they were already imported. So everything is ok, it’s just an intelligence test.

  • Angry Penguin

Ahh, you upload again Linux build. Thanks. Dzięki Kornelia 🙂

    LastPass add-on crashes 32.0.1926.0

    • Radek Rzepecki

      What OS?

      • tomaasz

        Windows 8.1 32-bits

      • tomaasz

how could I switch-off auto-update Opera to lastest version ?

I would like downgrade to 32.0.1918.0 but my Opera update automatically to 32.0.1926.0

        • Robert

Check one of those two flags.
          opera://flags/?search=update

          • tomaasz

            Thanks

“Ping autoupdate server” = off stopped auto update

          • tomaasz

finnally i can not disable autoupdate ;/

      • Roumen Ganeff

I removed it, and when I go to install Opera crashes and restarts without installing the extension

        • tomaasz

          check version of your Opera.
My Opera updated itself automatically after my downgrade

    • Roumen Ganeff

Same here on Windows 7 x64

    • Robert

For me is working as it should. There is no crashes at all. What’s your LastPass version? I am using Version 3.1.96
      Windows 8.1 x64 and Windows 10 x64

      • tomaasz

        lat 3.1.96 also

    • Dima S

      Same here on OSX 10.10.4

    • Ice cream

      browser://flags/#disable-npapi

      Set as Default or Disable.

      • MrEasy

        Also crashes with LastPass.
No difference with toggled “Disable NPAPI plug-ins” 🙁

      • tomaasz

        it doesn’t metter

    • Marcin Mitek

      For a reference: DNA-41268 (confirmed)

  • Angry Penguin

Now, please add flags on Linux accelerated-video-decode. HW i available for Windows and Mac, but can works also on Linux. Google disable this flags for Linux in Chromium, so if we even manuall enable all gpu acceleratins in opera:flags we have all options in opera:gpu on green but HW is fake working (is still force disabled). So you Opera DEVS should consider enable this experimental flags to use in Linux. Is ppa for Ubuntu with this Chromium DEV build, and this have enable HW flags (broken force disabled from google) and works fine.

    Can you? 😀

  • Angry Penguin

Also consider bring to Opera also rpm pack for Linux build.

  • Matheus Bombonato

Every new build I cross my fingers before read the changelog hoping to see improvements to the sidebar size issue. And again I’ve got frustrated. Sorry if I came here to complain again and again about this, but this is sooooo annoying! It seems you just don’t want to fix it. The usability is terrible 🙁

Please make the sidebar width persistent between sessions. And remember that each extension has its own width for the better user experience. Show me some love and thanks again!

    • Nekomajin43

The sidebar has a few bugs and missing small features. This is only one of them.

      • Matheus Bombonato

Agree! But this is the most annoying one. Basically, it’s a feature they claim they have but it’s not finished 🙁

        • Nekomajin43

Well, the sidebar is still not visible after relaunch.

The sidebar button badge is still buggy (misplaced if the text is only 2 characters long), and lacks important features like text color.

The sidebar button does not inherit the background color of the panel, so anything which is not white, looks bad.

There is still an unnecessary top border above the topmost icon.

The panel still gets the focus automatically when opened, but it should be handled by the extension developer.

The sidebar still can not be moved to the right side of the window.

So, yours is only one problem among many.

(By the way, if we can rearrange the buttons on the sidebar, why can’t we do it on the toolbar?!)

        • escruting

They’ve been doing this for a long time. Sidebar, stash, Sync, speed dial, speed dial navigation bar, pinnd tabs, bookmark popu, tab menu,….

A lot of these problems could be solved it they actually released a good version from the start. But they release a half-designed feature and then spend months around it.

          • Nekomajin43

            Agreed.

          • CrashNBurn71

            Water is Wet.

  • L33t4opera

Thanks for the update (especially for Linux), and fixes, I like new improvements for the bookmark manager, and in the bookmark pop-up 😉

Maybe some of the users will be interested in new flags (included also in the previous version – 32.0.1918):
    opera:flags#invert-viewport-scroll-order
Enables flipped viewport scroll order in some situations. Namely, during a pinch-zoom, the visual viewport should be scrolled first, then the layout viewport.
    opera:flags#show-domain-when-entering-fullscreen
Shows a toolbar displaying the domain of a web site when it tries entering full-screen mode,
    opera:flags#spellcheck-autocorrect
Turn on autocorrection of text while typing. Synchronous spellchecking is not compatible with this feature,
    opera:flags#surf-easy-promotion
Enables SurfEasy promotion within the browser,
    opera:flags/#enable-tcp-fast-open (Linux only)
Enable the option to send extra authentication information in the initial SYN packet for a previously connected client, allowing faster data send start.

    • Vux777

      – opera:flags#show-domain-when-entering-fullscreen
Shows a toolbar displaying the domain of a web site when it tries entering full-screen mode

      I’m not seeing anything different

      • L33t4opera

Hi Vux777, you can see it, if you for example click the “Full screen” button in the menu of any video clip on Youtube, or Vimeo.

  • Olli

The ugly sync button next to the address field cannot be hidden anymore?

    • SuperTommy

You never could (unless you could disable the flag, never tested)

      • Olli

Disabling sync flac (which was removed now) also removed the button.

    • led9ru

I do not use sync – I do not want to see this icon. Why can not I, the developers?

I do not like blue icon of Opera – I’ll change it to a gray icon by using program Resource Hacker. Can I replace the synchronization icon least the gray spot that would not see this shit?

    • That’s the way they notify u that “hey, try our suuuuuuuuuper great sync function”

      🙂

    • BK

We will hide it, just not yet.

  • Hylian Ticipated

    I don’t even know anymore.

  • _artem_

all the opened and pinned tabs disappeared.. opera crashes. autorestarts then. crashes again.. and that for 3-4 times.. removing Local State file did the job. opera doesn’t crash and restarts anymore.. but all opened and pinned tabs anyway disappeared forever…

  • Cryio

In Windows 10, you can manually specify which color your window chrome to be.

As of yet, Opera is still blindingly white. Any plans to implement a color change ? Any plans for it after Windows 10 hits RTM or GA ?

    • Zin

Indeed, the white color of chrome blinds, vivaldi devs already included color change for the browser, heck, even M$ edge that is another clone of chrome has colors.

      • Cryio

Edge is nothing like Chrome though.

  • RX-3200

    what is it ?
    http://i62.tinypic.com/eqs31y.jpg
will you rewrite “Silverlight” and “Java(TM)” and “Adobe Shockwave Player” and other np-plugins to pp-plugins by yourself, or you will just kill them all like a “description”-field in bookmarks ?

    • bwat47

Chromium is removing support for NPAPI completely by September, and Opera uses the Chromium engine.

Silverlight isn’t even supported by Microsoft anymore (It’s been deprecated for a while now, and Microsoft’s new Edge browser won’t even support it), and it would be up to java to update their plugin to PPAPI (and java plugin usage in web browsers is becoming increasingly faded out anyway).

    • Same here

  • Zin

Btw, when new opera will add support for this? https://secure.php.net/ Or will you just stay with html 5?

    • Matt Gladman

Umm PHP is a backend scripting language, no browser will ever excecute it. It is like that by design….

  • shane

Enters a crash loop when starting this version. Cannot run the earlier version.
Uninstalled and trying a clean installation. Possibly due to lastpass extension. (windows 8, 64bit)

edit; A clean install allows it to run ok. However I cannot re-install the lastpass extension without it crashing opera, as noted by others. Without lastpass I unfortunately can’t use this browser.

    • Vux777

      I had the same situation
in my case I think it was “Slimming paint” flag

since I disable it, no crashes

  • Hylian Ticipated

Every update, the team enjoys ruining my life.

    • Arjan van Leeuwen

I’m not sure why you’re still here if we’re ruining your life every time you download an update! But do tell, what causes Opera to ruin your life?

      • Hylian Ticipated

Opera first came into my life making things much easier for me. Now Opera is doing the complete opposite. Now I have this obtrusive Sync button I can’t get rid of and tips about it everywhere else. Remember when tab sort orders was a thing? And pop-ups opening in new tabs instead of windows? Zoom sliders and bookmarks opening in the same tab? I remember. Opera 15 and onwards has been taking steps forward and backwards for 3 years now. It should have been going all forward because it’s still way behind.

        “I’m not sure why you’re still here…”

        I wonder about that, too.

    • Andrew Andreyuk

      Use opera stable, Luke 😉

  • Olli

Vibrancy effect on OS X has unwanted behaviour and shows the contents BEHIND the Opera window. I hope this is not intended. Take a look at Safari, that’s how vibrancy is supposed to work in a browser, the window should show the contents of the website that is shown at shis moment (when scrolling down, it’s supposed to scroll “under” the window. Hope you can fix this. Also youtube tabs behave strangely with the new vibrant windows.

    • bwat47

      > Vibrancy effect on OS X has unwanted behaviour and shows the contents BEHIND the Opera window. I hope this is not intended.

      Its intended

    • Arjan van Leeuwen

It’s not really ‘intended’ to do anything, that’s pretty much left up to the implementor :). This is the design as intended by our designers.

      > Also youtube tabs behave strangely with the new vibrant windows.

This is a known bug, it has been fixed already internally so you’ll have a fix in the next available build. It happens on tabs that have audio, and it’s caused by the little audio indicator on the tab.

      • Olli

I already described what I mean with ‘intended’, it’s what Apple uses throughout the OS and that’s what looks native. Everything else is distracting and disturbing. Why would I want to become distracted by the contents of other windows (for example video in FaceTime!) BEHIND Opera while browsing? It doesn’t make any sense. It’s not native, it’s distracting – it simply is a bad user experience.

        • Arjan van Leeuwen

Yet this is what Apple recommends for any global application navigation, like the tab bar. And they do it themselves in applications like the Finder and iTunes, in their side bars. What you find distracting others might find appealing.

  • Юлия

Pretty ^^ Now how about you do something similar on Windows too? On Windows 7 Opera looks like a work in progress with that plain gray navigation bar. Chrome looks nicer with that gradient. FireFox has a (blue) gradient aswell. Either this or make it transparent. Or allow themes 😉

    • Vux777

that flat dimmed/gray color (#F2F2F2) is current trend on Internet
outlook, google, FB is using something very close for long time… and some other services is using it as base color
it’s actually good and i like it (and I know I’m minority on that ツ)

it’s not too bright (white) and it is contrasted enough so that other stuff on it (text, icons…) have excellent visibility

  • escruting

Could the image centering feature be improved? Right now it is not really centering the whole image, its just making visible more area of the picture, but not the whole picture, which would be the intended result. Thanks.

    • escruting

Depending on the clicks you do on the image and the width of your window it does different things for me, it should always do the same.

    • escruting

I use Opera Beta, this is not happening in a new profile, can anyone help me? I don’t want to start from scratch….All the extensions are disabled and it is still happening.

      • SuperTommy

Have you tried resetting your flags?

        • escruting

          Yes, still happening :S

          • SuperTommy

If you do not want to start from scratch with a new profile, try to backup your most important files like bookmarks, extension folders etc. in the AppData folder (on Windows, not sure what it is on Mac/Linux), create a new profile, then put your backups back in the folder and see if the issue persists. Might be some other corrupt files there causing the issue, since you don’t experience it on a clean profile.

          • escruting

Oh, now i see what was causing the problem. I have the default page zoom set to 110%. So the image is being centered and resized but only taking into account the size of the window space in 100% zoom. So for me its showing navigation bars and i see only 90% of the picture because of this.

It is a bit confusing but i think maybe its a bug, right? It should resize and center the picture on whatever page zoom you had set on your browser.

          • SuperTommy

Glad you found the problem. In my opinion it’s how it should work, because if it gets resized no matter what zoom level you are on, it loses the function of zoom. You zoom to increase the size, perhaps to study some details. Impossible if it automatically resizes to your window. 🙂

          • escruting

Yeah, i know what you mean, maybe if the page default zoom was treated differently from the page zoom you set with +- it could be done. But with the way chromium browsers treat zoom levels across the same domain i guess it could be somewhat difficult to achieve.

Thanks for your help in this matter.

      • tomaasz

        uninstall LastPass addon

        • escruting

i don’t have lastpass, i already found the source of the problem, you can find it in the comment below.

  • kj

Still crashing when I visit my sites using self-signed cert added to trusted root ca…

  • Gloriam

Request for the closed tabs button, I’d like to have the option to have it stop showing the currently active tabs, since these are already shown at the top anyway, seems a bit redundant to have them on the same button when that info is shown elsewhere.

    • Nekomajin43

      +1

Just add a checkbox to the settings to disable the current tabs list and show only the recently closed tabs.

      • bwat47

they could just make the Open Tabs section collapsible like Recently closed and Other devices, that would make more sense than making it a separate preference IMO.

        • Nekomajin43

          That would be fine too.

  • proxxy

    • tomaasz

  • dflyra

A question to everyone who knows:
I have a desktop PC & a Laptop. Until now, I was treating bookmarks & speed-dials separately and independently. So, I have two different sets of bookmarks & speed-dial entries. My reference bookmarks & speed-dial entries are on the desktop. I don’t want to merge anything, just to keep my pc settings by transferring everything from my pc to my laptop: Does it mean that I have to delete all bookmarks & speed-dial entries from my laptop before syncing?

    Thanks in advance.

    • SuperTommy

The bookmarks will merge, so if you want only your bookmarks from your PC you have to delete the ones on your laptop.

      • dflyra

Thanks! but what about the speed-dial? Should I delete all the entries too?

        • SuperTommy

Not really, they appear under “Other Speed Dials” in the bookmarks manager, so they won’t merge together with the ones you have. Speed dials are separate from each computer. You can after syncing delete them, or keep them, or copy/paste the ones from your PC to the laptop to have the same ones.

          • dflyra

            Thanks again!

  • Der Herr Nick

Huh? Why can’t I bookmark a page in bookmarks and SD at the same time? Where’s the “Show in SD” button?

    (ノ °益°)ノ 彡

    • bwat47

Now that they’ve added a full folder hierarchy to the heart menu folder dropdown (including the SD folder), you can now add bookmarks directly to the speed dial folder right from the folder dropdown.

This makes the show in sd button mostly redundant so it was removed. IMO having a dedicated button that’s only remaining function is to create a duplicate bookmark is kind of silly, so personally I’d agree with it being removed.

You can still copy and paste from the bookmarks manager if you want the same bookmark in multiple folders.

    • Gustav Ekner

In my opinion, you never need to have a page on speed dial *and* in bookmarks.

  • Steve Hayes

Problem with website login tick box, ONLY happens on this version of Opera:

    http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13/steve2470/super%20tiny%20tick%20box%20for%20du_zpsyyunjbnc.png

Same exact screenshot with Firefox: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13/steve2470/normal%20ff%20tick%20box%20on%20du_zpsmfnsfies.png

    Please fix. Thanks.

    • Gustav Ekner

Can you post a link to the website?

    • Ralf Brinkmann

Looks as if your zoom level is more than 100 percent. I don’t have this problem here, everything looks ok. W7x64.

      • Gustav Ekner

Can’t reproduce the problem on Ubuntu 15.04 either. What OS do you have, Steve Hayes?

        • Steve Hayes

Windows 10 x64, sorry I did not specify that earlier, I’m slipping :/

          • Gustav Ekner

            No problem 🙂

Perhaps someone else can confirm the issue on windows 10?

      • Steve Hayes

I am using Windows 10 x64 Build 10240, hence the problem. This build is very close to the RTM that will be delivered on July 29, 2015. I’d advise Opera to take a close look at that website while using the same OS I am. Yes, the zoom is well over 100% to illustrate the problem. The tick box is very very small, when it should be very easy to see!

Maybe you have changed any flag that causes this behaviour. Have you tried to start Opera with a clean profile? Close Opera, rename the profile folder and restart Opera. Still the same mistake?

Ok I did as you suggested. Here is the login page for democraticunderground.com with default view, no zoom: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13/steve2470/du%20login%20page%20win10%20opera_dev_zpszjqijwqc.png

for comparison, here is Firefox 39, default view, no zoom: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y13/steve2470/firefox%20win10%20default%20login%20view%20du_zpsh5ofh41t.png

You lose a lot of space with this quick access thing. But that should not cause any problems. As far as I can see, the size of everything is now nearly the same and you can read all textes. There is only this check box missing in Opera. Is it only unvisible or is it completely missing? I mean, can you click there although it is not visible?

I have tried out some things here, with adblocker and without, with other extensions and without and the result is always the same: I can see and read all parts of the login page and also the click box. The difference is only the advertising. And it looks exactely the same in Firefox (40 beta) here.

I can still see the checkbox using Windows 10, but it’s very very small. It takes a bit of extra effort to check it. I think the problem is more with Windows 10 than with Opera, apparently.

Maybe a problem of the font that is used?

You should add the ability of select multiple links in history to delete them, it is not nice to delete one by one.

Try Windows 7 to see what ugly means… blocks & flatness forced to an OS that is based on transparency and is using PC’s GPU for that…

New build for the Opera developer 32.0.1933.0, and the change log 😉

    Greetings

I always liked the Opera browser, and use it several years but unfortunately, after I start using Firefox, I stop to use more often the Opera.

So why? Because of navigate between tabs.

I wonder how can I do this with Opera, tab scroll wheel?
How can I force the minimum size in Tabs, when I open?
That’s because I sometimes open more than 30 Tabs!

If I achieve that, Firefox goodbye!
