Check out the latest improvements.

We had an interesting discussion about whether the bookmarks menu should remember the previously selected folder. We were quite divided. Let us know what you think.

image00

There are even more improvements. Just play with it!

We also add a few links to the SurfEasy promotion. It is only context dependent, and once you have it installed, you will never see the promotion again.

Space efficiency

We are working on making Opera chrome less space consuming. For the time being you can go to bookmarks manager and check smaller tiles option. Also you can resize now the left bar.

Password synchronization

We’ve applied many fixes to password synchronization. Please let us know if that works well for you now.

  • nanana1

Thanks, Zhenis, for this Opera 32.0.1918.0 Developer update with stablilization fixes and some improvements !

    • Marko Koivuniemi

Thanks nanana1 again for this completely useless post. But at the same time I totally agree. 😉

      • wolkenspalter

Both of you are wasting my time. But I agree too. 🙂

        • Dante Raven

          DAFUQ !!!!!! HAHAHAHA

  • Zero Kiryu

Too bad you removed “Add to Speed Dial” button from bookmarks manager. Oh well… At least thanks for smaller tiles for bookmarks. One more question. Are you planning to add extensions synchronization?

    • “Add to Speed Dial” was confusing, because you added to SD and also to bookmarks. Now you can select the Speed Dial folder and get the same effect.

When it comes to new features. Keep following our blog and you will know as the first person.

      • Lacedaemon

“Add to Speed Dial” was confusing, because you added to SD and also to bookmarks. Now you can select the Speed Dial folder and get the same effect.

Good thinking. Now this leads to the logical removing (=unifying the behavior) of the separate keyboard shortcut AND of the menu entry “add to speed dial” because it doesn’t open the heart menu giving a choice to select the thumbnail for the Speed Dial tile.

Also you must switch the default behavior of “Save tabs as Speed Dial Folder” of saving the url titles to saving thumbnail previews, since it is problematic when saving tabs from the same domain.

        • Nekomajin43

          +1

But instead of this “Save tabs as Speed Dial Folder” thing, you should start working on a proper session manager.

        • Herr Pietrus

Personally I still think, that “Add to SD (folder)” sholud be available as a separate action, but of course it should launch the heart menu.

But Vux777 idea with icons is also interesting, although still requires two clicks…

And as Nekomajin43 said, true sessions would be the best,

      • Vux777

you could place set of favicons under the thumbnail for default folders (unsorted, bb, speed dial…)

there’s plenty of room for it (horizontally), event the tree arrow fits it

    • Herr Pietrus

Personally I still think, that “Add to SD (folder)” sholud be available as a separate action, but of course it should launch the heart menu.

But Vux777 idea with icons is also interesting, although still requires two clicks…

  • kj

It’s crashing on my sites when I use self signed cert added to trused root ca.

    • Max Krüger

      i can confirm this, win8.1/64bit

  • x a

Heart menu popup should remember folder, in my opinion – but not stick to speeddial folder: the solution with a “add to speeddial” button was to be preferred (though it should have a radio button behavior, speeddial XOR bookmark/folder).

    • jedy123

Agree Speed Dial OR Bookmarks. If you add a page via the Speed Dial itself, you only get the url in the image preview and the heart menu always adds to the bookmarks.

  • Matheus Bombonato

One more build and still no improvements to the sidebar size 🙁
I hope your “Space efficiency” doesn’t mean you will keep the sidebar with these bugs forever.

And I think the heart menu should remember the last folder

  • Ralf Brinkmann

After the update I had all bookmarks twice, but not all of them sorted.

    • BK

Hi, thanks for this info. We’ve identified the bug and fixed it internally now. DNA-40853.
We recommended to use separate sync account for dev and stable Opera stream

      • Ralf Brinkmann

Oh, thank you very much! It was an update from dev to dev and usually I use only dev (in the desktop version).

      • ayespy

Thanks, Blazej, but to be realistic, I don’t think it’s proper to ask users to open multiple Opera accounts to cover for developers’ inability to get sync right. Others may disagree, but why add just one more hurdle to the ability of users to help you test the bleeding edge?

  • iamtelephone

    > We had an interesting discussion about whether the bookmarks menu should remember the previously selected folder.

YES! Unless your browsing behaviour is erratic, then you’ll normally bookmark similar content (at the same time). Thus making sense to have the bookmark menu remember the previous folder.

Even if your browsing behaviour is erratic, it still makes sense to show the previous folder versus always defaulting to ‘Unsorted Bookmarks’.

    • icetom

I dont agree. If a person creates specific folders in bookmarks, that person will not visit only one that folder all the time. After all, thats the reason the person created folders in the first place.

bookmarks are like a tree, and i think its good to start with unsorted.

      • iamtelephone

That’s true, but a user is far more likely to use the same folder (especially if nested) within a designated time frame.

E.g. If I’m researching for an assignment/project, I know for the next 30 minutes every bookmark will be going within the same folder (or the same nest).

It gets annoying while bookmarking 15+ pages, and having to scroll down to the same nested folder. I’d be happy if they added a flag to enable whichever choice they choose not to use (whether that be to remember or not).

        • icetom

yes more options are good for Opera.

  • Jozka Jozin

    Password synchronization:
And password manager + hotkey like in version 12?

  • Jorton

    No new features!

  • Kirby green

only more customizable mouse gesture and opera will be perfect for me

    • Dante Raven

      same here , more gestures

  • Mike

Since the 32.x stream, it no longer remembers the decision for invalid certificates. Can we either re-instate the option to remember them for a user configurable amount of time, or at least make it remember longer than the sesson?

  • Kamen Minkov

Why should there be one of two things when you can make it user-configurable?

    • Leonardo Gomes

Maybe because things may not be that simple?

      • Nekomajin43

I don’t think having a checkbox to remember/forget the last used folder is that complicated.

I like this feature, but others may not. Just remember the tab previews and the reactions…

  • ayespy

I wouldn’t know about password sync, as I don’t have it enabled.

I DO know about bookmarks sync, however, and aside from the actual bookmarks bar itself, it appears now to have given me between THREE and FORTY copies of EVERYTHING.

Is there no way to fix this?

    • Dmitry Kirin

I guess, after such a mess with sync, it would be nice if Opera kindly provided and bundled a cleaner of duplicate bookmarks or kill the duplicates on the server side.

      • Marcin Mitek

We are working on a fix for it (and some kind of “cleaner”). Stay tuned.

  • Vux777

3 or 4 times so far in this build, all extensions with content scripts stopped working (like smooth scrolling extension)
    disable/enable didn’t helped
    only Opera restart

    • Nerdebeu

Yes, and especially Chrome extensions, which does not mean that those Opera are not affected. Empty cache helps a bit (not for all)

  • If you developers can’t decide whether a function should be enabled or not, just leave an option there. That doesn’t take too much space in your setting panel.

    • András Ács

Each setting is an additional complication that has to be maintained, and each one increases cognitive load too for the user. Given the General Public target, these are understandable points.
      It’s the way it is.

Once it is stable and performant enough, one could flock to Vivaldi. Or not.

      So all is good 🙂

      • Footman

i dont agree. opera team knows very well that the most opera users have good technological knowledge.

        • András Ács

Even if your “most Opera users” figure is/was true, the intention is to make the browser more appealing to a wider range of people, and even if this sacrifices some of the ‘power users’, to me it seems a reasonable position.

At the same time, not every technical person wants infinite configurability. I consider myself a ‘power user’ and still stick to Opera; I just want to get things done. The important stuff is there, in a stable and fast package. Good enough for me, but to each of their own I guess.

  • Another interesting thing, it shows a blank page if using Opera 31 to access to http://www.surfeasy.com. A good promotion. (update: Seems that it’s the problem caused by the website itself)

  • mse20

Middle click scroll doesn’t change the cursor. Also cursor doesn’t hide in full screen (at least Flash + Youtube).

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

Hi, what’s your operating system? I remember your comment from previous blog posts and I cannot reproduce this issue.

      • Niels Derdaele

Same problem here, the cursor doesn’t change after a middle mouse button click (scrolling works, cursor stays the same).
        Using Win7 64bit.

        • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

Thanks guys, confirmed! Also the cursor/full screen issue is in BTS now (DNA-40934).

          • Joe438

            BTS = beta test stream?

          • András Ács

            bug tracking system

      • bwat47

        I can reproduce it here, win 8.1 64-bit. hardware is: i5-2500, 16gb ddr3, nvidia gtx 970 (353.38 driver)

Middle clicking to initiate auto scroll isn’t changing the cursor to indicate that auto scroll is enabled, it just stays at the regular pointer style.

This is happening in all the recent dev builds, as well as the current Opera 31 beta build. This issue seems to have started at Opera 31, the current Opera 30 stable is the only current version without the issue.

      • SuperTommy

I’m able to reproduce on Win 8.1 x64. Reported as DNA-40912.

      • mse20

I don’t care anymore. I switched to Chrome after using Opera for 15 years. Thanks for the memories. I’ll follow Vivaldi more closely for now and hopefully I can do the switch within a few years.

    • Hylian Ticipated

Yep, been happening the past few builds.

  • oic

how often does the bookmark/speed dial sync with my stable browser. My beta browser synced in a few minutes but the dev browser refuse to sync for 30+ mins

    • Dante Raven

hahaaha Me ,3 hours and counting !!!!!

  • Vladimir

Why not give users to decide how they want. Add these options in the settings, browser. The user configures the browser for yourself. Allow users to make (move) the button “Add to Speed Dial” on the panel.

When it was to fix a bug in the Ukrainian version of the browser? When installing the Ukrainian version of Opera in the dictionary is not added (uploading) Ukrainian dictionaries, though Opera shows that it is, when you press the right mouse button and choose dictionary for spell checking.

Since the release of your web browser but there is a new engine this bug.

  • Юлия

I think it should remember, until you restart the program 🙂 After that default it to Unsorted.
Also I’d like in bookmarks to have list view everywhere: on each existing folders and to be default on the new ones aswell.

Offtopic: it’s the first time in a while that I’m accessing your blog without ad block (you don’t seem to have ads, so I don’t think I’m damaging anything with it enabled). My god the floating sharing thing (widget?) on the left is huge o.O Normally it gets blocked. I don’t remember it being there before.

    • GravityTicker

Ublock origin is blocking 5 “things” right now so, I’ll leave it on 😉

      • jedy123

        Disconnect is blocking 39 ‘things’.

  • Denyer

Don’t mind me, standing here over this horse carcass with a golf club… If you’re concerned about spatial efficiency, how about tabs down the side of the browser? 🙂

    • Joe438

If you are interested there are a couple of extensions that do that. V7 Tabs and Simple Vertical Tabs. I have not tried them out. Vertical tabs is not really my thing.

      • ayespy

Vertical tabs is definitely my thing, and the inability to have them on the right, at the same time that the left side panel is closed, is perhaps the chief reason at the moment why Opera is no longer (after sixteen years of loyalty) my default browser. The available extensions only allow you to have vertical tabs at the left, and only if the panel (which is too fat) is open.

        • Joe438

Most likely those features will be added soon. In the mean time I recommend getting away from Opera completely for a while as you sound rather burned out from it. When you come back I’m sure there will be many new improvements for you to test out.

For me Opera is developing at an extraordinary pace and no other browser comes anywhere close to comparing to Opera. I’ve been using Opera for a little less than yourself, but somewhere over ten years.

          • ayespy

“Most likely those features will be added soon.”

I don’t think so. I assumed that would be the case, and said as much a couple of years ago, because I had implicit faith in the remaining Opera team. But the direction of Opera to date has pointed in a decidedly different direction. They have declared they will never have mail for instance, and have demonstrated a prominent tendency to add, subtract and change features based (+/-) 70% on return on investment, 15% community feedback, and 15% developer inspiration. Therefore if 100% of the community demanded a discrete inbuilt side tab feature, it would seem there’s a 15% chance it would appear. As it stands, hardly anyone asks for it any more, so I predict there is a less than 1% probability that it will be added.

If I keep an eye on ongoing progress, there is still a slim chance I could be won back. If I make a break and quit watching, the break will be permanent. I decline to take time away, as I know myself and I know time away will mean not coming back. Such was the story with IE, Netscape/Mozilla/Firefox, etc. Once I sour on something the taste lingers.

          • Joe438

If you feel staying with Opera is beneficial and/or enjoyable or at least that it soon will be then enjoy the stay, but if not then it is more like continually going to a restaurant that has changed its menu to something you no longer like, but you keep going back in the hopes that it will one day get better.

For me this is a really exciting time for me with Opera. I love playing with all the new features coming out and can’t wait to see what is next. Right now the bookmarks are really taking off. The sync feature s growing and becoming more user friendly (passwords! select what you want to sync!). Mail is still around either with one of the many extensions or with their standalone Opera Mail client.

Either way, I hope you come to love what Opera is and does as much as I do.

          • jedy123

Well said. The amount of work the team are doing is impressive. There will always be individuals who become negative towards Opera for not implementing their favourite feature (some get very rude about it). Quite a few, by the sound of it, don’t notice all the work going into the browser because they can’t see passed the ‘lack of progress’ with their ‘must have’ requirements. I don’t care for side panels, for example, but certainly noticed the addition of this feature!

          • Joe438

Very true! I have a lot of admiration for Opera for making the very hard and unpopular decision to abandon Presto and move to Chromium. I was confused and disappointed when it first happened, but then I learned why it had to be done and that the core Opera philosophy had not changed. I then looked at Opera 15+ at the time as a new baby browser with a pretty good idea of what it would become. I love watching it grow 🙂

As I understand it the reason Opera went over to the Chromium engine in short had to do with decreasing the workload of maintaining the Presto engine which was becoming exponentially difficult to maintain and also to be able to better work with emerging web standards.

At first Opera would lose most of its features, but as the Opera team became more familiar with the Chromium engine most everything would be coming back, but it would take time. Knowing where Opera has been, the hard times they have been through and seeing where they are going I am quite glad I have stayed with Opera.

          • BK

            Thanks for the good word.

  • Vux777

there’s a problem with fetching favicons in sidebar (if they are not cached before)
some sites favicons are causing never stop loading bug in sidebar

    • Vux777

seems like Twitter and Instagram are one of the problematic favicons

  • GravityTicker

SurfEasy promotion? How about NO ADS of any kind? Thank you. And related – “Visit opera://flags, find ‘Surf Easy Promotion’ and select ‘Disabled’, restart the browser.”

    • led9ru

Maybe Opera developer should give us the answer – how this – “insert f****g ads in browser” – How is it possible? you bribed?

      • bwat47

Surf Easy is owned by Opera, they are basically advertising their own service (which isn’t any worse than what google does with chrome :p).

the surf easy promotion only shows up when you open a new incognito window, next to the normal image that indicates you are in incognito mode, it’s hardly intrusive.

These comments are the very definition of a mountain out of a molehill.

  • Abishek Naagendra

Please provide some themes which not only changes the wallpaper. But the tabs and others as well. Most Opera users like the old style. I’m well aware of that. But for the new generation who loves the new trendy themes, please provide cool themes. Like Chrome which provides both classic theme and featured themes. Develop a faster and stable version soon. I feel that Opera 32 is somewhat slower than Opera 30(stable). And Opera 32 sometimes freezes. I’ve to restart the browser for it to work well again.

    • jedy123

Opera 32 is a developer release, not stable. It’s bound to have bugs and broken features – it’s the work-in-progress browser.

    • Laga Mahesa

Agreed. Calling these ‘themes’ is a touch duplicitous. I doubt it will ever change, though, as Opera is no longer using an in-house engine. Petition Google to get that functionality into Chrome, first.

    • Leonardo Gomes

What you want were called “Skins” in Opera Presto.

  • proxxy

Vivaldi added option to hide “+” (add button) from the speed dial. Why opera can’t do such a simple thing for so many years?

  • Dante Raven

the dev browser refuse to sync my bookmarks, please fix this 🙁

  • Dmitry Kirin

Thanks for the new build and for the fixing of the html rendering bug showing up with SQL Server Reporting Services. Its web UI is now working as before, and I don’t have to switch to IE to use it.

  • Hylian Ticipated

History still in a neverending refresh cycle. On top of everything else I’ve ever mentioned. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh well.

    • SuperTommy

What do you mean by neverending refresh cycle?

      • History always repeats itself.

        • SuperTommy

          Good one. 🙂

      • bwat47

If you open history you get an endless loading throbber animation on the tab. Only seems to happen on the windows version (can reproduce it on my dekstop running win 8.1 64-bit, but not on my mac running yosemite)

        • SuperTommy

Ah ok, I think it’s just the animation in loop, it doesn’t actually refresh endlessly which I thought was the problem above.

  • Laga Mahesa

Starting with 1910, I think, I am randomly experiencing sudden loss of keyboard (in text fields like this, but not the URL bar) and gesture input – no gestures at all work, and basic shortcuts like Alt-F4 fail. I have to quit Opera via the close button and restart. Anyone else seeing this?

    • It’s been more than a century that this bug is present, then. I guess the devs slept on this one.

  • Firefox 40 has great improvements in smooth scrolling.
When will the day that integrates Opera smooth scrolling by default?.

    • bwat47
      • Vux777

they could just pay this guy to do the job
        it would be much faster
        (bug started in 2008)

I’m not using any additional features from that extension (puls etc)
        and it works perfectly

        • bwat47

Implementing it properly takes more time, the various smooth scrolling extensions for chrome are a rather ‘hacky’ implementations and have limitations (the most noticeable being they don’t work on some web pages, or parts of some pages. Gmail for an example off the top of my head)

However, I won’t disagree that its ridiculous that its 2015 and chromium doesn’t already have smooth scrolling 🙂

Looking at the recent progress on the chromium smooth scrolling bug it does look like they are finally almost there, currently only one bug blocking it and it’s assigned.

  • al_ghul

Dear developers, in previous versions of opera dev (and in last also) I had some issue, maybe a bug. When I’m using hibernation mode often – then when starting opera dev – if there are some updates, in opera://about/ – there is only info that new version (and version number) is available, but update process does not start. Sometimes there is present an info that opera is checking for updates, but also – there is no progress in that. Of course, several restarting opera dev after hibernation doesn’t make any change in above behaviour.

Different behaviour occurs only after clean closing windows and starting it up – opera dev updates smoothly.

    win 7 x64, 4GB RAM, opera dev 32.0.1918.0

  • dflyra

How come everything is constantly improving in functionality, compatibility, looks in a way that no other browser can catch up with Opera and only the speed-dial remains aesthetically the worst compared to every other browser on the planet?

  • tom5345

flashplayer will not start: (Kunne ikke starte programtillegget)

    18.0.0.203 (ppapi)

    It is activated and detected(opera://plugins/)

    • Ralf Brinkmann

Can you give us an example page? I have just tested some flash videos on tv.adobe.com and it works here (W7x64).

      • tom5345

Well, the page you linked to for instance.

Hm, seems to be a problem on my end then.

        (W8,1×64)

  • Gustav Ekner

Sometimes I want to add many bookmarks at the same time to one specific folder. Therefore, I want it to remember the last folder for like 10 minutes, or under the same session. Then it should go back to unsorted bookmarks.

    • al_ghul

      it’s interesting option:).

generally I think that many different options after clicking heart button SHOULD be taken into account cause many ppl have their work habits and bookmarking is one of the most crucial when browsing the web.

  • s fauske
    • Ralf Brinkmann

Not here, but it wants login data. W7x64.

    • Joe438

same. no crash here, but wants login info.

  • ricksper

Not updating from 32.1910 to32.1918 because? Not even after manual update.

    • al_ghul

check if you started windows from hibernation. i had such issue and restart make update possible.

One question: how do you make a manual update? do you simply download latest opera dev install files and run it overwriting older version?;)

      • ricksper

Yes, I d/l’ed and ran the Dev install files. It seemed to install normally but the version number never changed

        • ricksper

Rebooting the computer as you recommended solved the problem. Thanks.

          • al_ghul

you’re welcome:) so it seems that’s opera dev bug.

    • ricksper

      Ooops!

  • shane

Am I the only on experiencing this weird gap in the address bar auto-complete?

    http://i.imgur.com/k7mAg4i.png

Started happening as of last dev version.

edit: Set all my opera:flags back to default and the problem went away. I suspect it may be a high DPI issue.

    • Leonardo Gomes

Not happening here even with lots of flags enabled, but i’ve seen similar reports.

    • Marcin Mitek

We are tracking it as DNA-40597.

      • shane

For what it’s worth, the problem has re-occurred. It seems to go away after a restart, then come back eventually. So it may not be related to flag settings. (although I have re-enabled some hidpi settings)

  • Remi

Sync for pass don’t work. I use dev and stable opera in two locations.

    • Nekomajin43

Password sync is only in v32.

      • Remi

Yes I know. In both cases I use v32 on my devices. But when I seva pass on one dev, I don’t see it on the second one.

“We are working on making Opera chrome less space consuming.”

CHROME?! WHAT A FUCKING GOOGLISH LANGUAGE!!!

    • ayespy

“Chrome,” for the last twenty years or more, has been a word used by browser makers and other software developers to refer to the visual attributes of a user interface – especially frames, icons, buttons and other things that make up the way the interface looks and acts.

      • Herr Pietrus

Interesting. 🙂 I thought they referred to the engine they use… So, guys from the Opera decided to redesign UI? Hopefully they give us screen space back… 😉

        • ayespy

          From the blog post above:

          “Space efficiency

We are working on making Opera chrome less space consuming. For the time being you can go to bookmarks manager and check smaller tiles option. Also you can resize now the left bar.”

          • Herr Pietrus

Yeah, I thought that before reading the second sentence. 🙂

    • bwat47
    • Dmitry Kirin

YESS!! With all my disliking of the word ‘chrome’ in reference to GUI, I recognise the excellence of this pun by Zhenis! 🙂

      • iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

        Where is that pun?

    • Marcin Mitek

I don’t want to remove this comment because of the educational aspect of the responses 🙂

But it clearly violates our rules.

  • Has anyone else encountered this bug: http://i.imgur.com/2mb2Yw2.png

This has been around since version ~20 I believe.

    • Ralf Brinkmann

Which bug do you mean? I don’t see any.

The black title bar I think, sometimes it bugs out going black.

      • It’s the black bar. Is it really not that obvious? Happens quite regularly.

        • Vux777

          it could be because of:
          -your desktop background image

          -or windows theme
try to change it, and see if it happens again

          • it could be because of:
            -your desktop background image

Definitely not this. I have them change all the time at home and at work. Happens on static non-changing backgrounds too. On windows 7 and win 8.1.

            -or windows theme
try to change it, and see if it happens again

Can’t be this either. Happens on multiple different versions of windows with different themes. This is an Opera bug.

EDIT: This either has something to do with Dual screen or with windows snapping.

          • SuperTommy

Happens with snapping here, single screen.

          • bwat47

does it happen every time you snap, any specific way to reproduce? Never seen that issue here on windows 8.1, even if I repeatedly drag the window and snap it fullscreen/halfscreen.

          • SuperTommy

No, it happens randomly, so difficult to give exact steps besides snapping to fullscreen. And you must be in private mode.

          • bwat47

ok thanks, you are right, I was able to reproduce this here in all channels (stable, beta, dev) after a few tries dragging an private window maximized: http://i.imgur.com/mGMY8LV.jpg

do you know if there’s already a bug reported for this?
edit: wasn’t able to find one, reported as DNA-41045

          • Yes, I did report this before posting it here. This has been present in Opera for the longest time. DNA-41031 was my report. I also think it is possible for this to happen in non-private mode. Although I could be wrong.

        • Ralf Brinkmann

Sorry, I don’t see any black bar here, because everything is full of tabs. So I didn’t know if this is normal or not. And I don’t know your background image.

          • So you don’t see that these are missing? http://i.imgur.com/AxjXOmy.png

          • Ralf Brinkmann

Oh, there on the right side! I didn’t realize that, because I thought you have cropped the image.

    • Nekomajin43

I have the same issue when I quit from full screen of a video on yt. Switching to an other window and back solves the problem.

  • GhorX

    Bug – http://www.idnes.cz/
On top is bar which ends with “=Další” (three lines as menu symbol). This element has implemented mouse enter and mouse leave events which works in all browsers except last Opera.
Edit – problem seems to be specific to Windows 8.x

    • bwat47

works fine here in both Opera stable and Opera dev, win 8.1 64-bit

  • dflyra

In the new tree-structured bookmarks manager, how do we select multiple bookmarks to move them around (because this is the real matter)? In the meantime only the V7 sidebar bookmarks extension offers this possibility.
To all the people here (In case you haven’t found out yet): Install ‘Select like a Boss’ extension and save yourselves from the horrible chromium select text situation!

    • bwat47

The same way you’d select multiple bookmarks and move them in the previous bookmarks manager. You can click and drag to multi-select (e.g. the same way you can drag to select multiple icons on your operating system desktop), use ctrl + a to select all, or click on the check button on each bookmark to multi-select. Quick video demonstration here: https://youtu.be/BeT1lcts22w

afaik the tree view changes nothing in regards to multi-selecting bookmarks…

      • dflyra

You are absolutely right! Thank you.

  • Vux777

there is a sidebar rendering bug in this build
if i close that folder with “1” at the beginning and the scroll bar is at the bottom, all nodes under are blank (mostly, their child nodes are not visible)
mouse hover makes them visible again

  • Simone Previti

nice build! unfortunately i still have the same problem: i use the tweetdeck website for twitter, and quite often, when i try to save on my hard disk a photo taken from a tweet, the browser crashes. It happens as soon as the standard dialog window opens, asking me where to save the picture. Sometimes, after crashing, it shows a popup window with an error message, telling me that i didn’t have the permission for that operation, which i’m actually sure i have, since i’m using an admin account and i save all pictures in the default windows folder. I hope i’m not the only one, i’ve been having this problem for a very long time… thanks!

I’m getting crashes when trying to open my server’s webmin page. It worked before with the latest version of webmin. (www.webmin.com) No changes have been made on my side.
Latest Win 10 x64 (plugins disabled)
    MS Edge works fine.

Anyone else having problems with HTML5 videos staying black but playing sound?

    For example here:
http://wetter.tagesschau.de/deutschland/ (click play button in bottom left)

I’m on Win7 x64 SP1, no Flash Player installed. I used private browsing so no extensions interfere.

    • Leonardo Gomes

Strange, here it works if i set Opera to run all plugins, although right clicking on the video doesn’t show that flash is being used.

    • Ralf Brinkmann

The same as Leonardo here, no problems. W7x64.

      • sneaker

Okay, thank you guys for your feedback! I guess it was just me so I completely wiped Opera and installed again. Now it seems to be working every time.

    • bwat47

I just tested that link here, and here’s what I got:

on my laptop with OSX 10.10.4:
Opera 30 stable: Video does not play at all. video gets to the first frame and then stops. I get no sound playing or anything like that.
      Opera 32: video plays fine.

On my desktop pc with win 8.1:
Opera 30 stable: Video does not play at all. video gets to the first frame and then stops. I get no sound playing or anything like that.
      Opera 32: video plays fine

Edit: The video plays fine for me in Opera 30 stable as well if I go to opera:plugins and disable flash player, so in my case the issue is specific to flash.

A note about local certificate issuers

Some connections can be certified by certificates from local issuers, either from apps on your machine or other non-public sources (such as a local intranet). These issuers can be used to verify secured connections in the browser. Most of these connections are valid. For example, debugging applications, third-party security scanning, and parental filters may rely on locally-issued certificates.

Connections certified by certificates from local issuers aren’t screened by the same security standards as publicly-known issuers and certificates. Such screening is too strict and may not allow connections to work as intended. Malware or viruses may use these certificates to view encrypted information or inject ads.

If you want, you can configure Opera to warn you about public sites that use certificates from local issuers. If you continue to browse on these connections, be aware that some security measures, such as certificate pinning and Certificate Transparency, will be disabled for all such connections during your browsing session.

    • Sam Irons

You can read more about this in Sigbjørn’s security blog post: http://www.opera.com/blogs/security/2015/06/developer-32-protecting-against-yourself/

  • We had an interesting discussion about whether the bookmarks menu should remember the previously selected folder. We were quite divided. Let us know what you think.

This is what you do user research for, these things can’t possibly be decided at meetings among project managers and developers — that’s how software was built in the 90s. You do have UX expertise in Opera, right? Right?

Anyone else have problems with Speed Dial sync? I made a new account and current PC is not in the “Other Speed Dials” folder. So I made a custom folder and added few pages inside and installed latest Opera Dev on my Windows 10 and folder is not synced. Passwords and bookmarks works, but other Speed Dials doesn’t.

  • tomaasz

hi, thanks for Opera, it is the best browser form.
do you plan to installed add-ons synchronization ?

  • tomaasz

    Hi

I see without any problem url in tooltip for bookmarks located directly on Personal bar. But I don’t see url in tooltip for bookmarks located in folders on Personal bar

  • Ralf Brinkmann

    Very strange situation!

    I have a problem with http://gwegner.de.

When I open this page, it’s structure is destroyed, there is no background visible and no photos.
The same in Google Chrome and in Vivaldi. NOT in Firefox.
If I hover over the first test link “Nikon 300 mm…” I see the real link
https://gwegner.de/blog/nikon-300mm-af-s-f4-pf-ed-vr-test-und-erste-eindruecke-vergleich-mit-300-f2-8-vr-ii/ and when I open it I receive a 404. In Google Chrome and Vivaldi I receive a warning, that the page is not safe. In FF I can open it.

    Now the strange thing:
The author of the page told me, that there is no https-link, everything is http only.
But when I open the page source in Opera, Chrome or Vivaldi I see this https-link three times. In FF I see the same as http only.

Don’t they open all the same page source?

  • Wraith

How can I reset syncronization, some strange thing is happening, I can sync tabs but my bookmarks and speed dial are out of sync. I really really want to sync my speed dials globally and not as they are right now by devices, an option will do the job.

    New Opera developer 32.0.1926.0 😉
The change log, and the announcement.

I installed Opera 32 and it works great with Netflix. No annoying prompts about Silverlight. Yeah! No issues that I can see.

However, I am on a MacBook Pro Retina and it really seemed to suck my battery down compared to Opera 30, Opera 31, or Safari. Any comments or advise would be appreciated. I am new to Opera, and Opera 30 and 31 quickly became my preferred browser now, on both my Mac and on my phone. Cool. I hope 32 keeps the Netflix going and maybe gets to a good CPU usage like 30 and 31.
