Hello!

Today, we have issued an update to a beta version of Opera browser. The new version number is 31.0.1889.50. Chromium has been updated to version 44.0.2403.52 and includes a couple of bug fixes. For the list of all changes, see our changelog below.
If you get an error when updating Linux, download and install the .deb package manually and it should work correctly next time.

Looking forward to see your comments.

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

You’re welcome and better get used to me cause I’m back at work now and I’m gonna be here more often ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • BK

finally I shall see no PDF issues in beta ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Dark Magician

    This build looks better…

  • Gloriam

I asked awhile ago for you guys to stop adding Zalando in my speed dial with every small update, you guys said it was a bug, well.. it’s still there.

I’ll say again, I don’t mind it from Opera 30 to 31, or 31 to 32, but not with every small hotfix that you bring out please.

    • BK

Sorry again for that. We have changed the process and it should end up pretty soon. Thanks for notifying.

As already added to “game” the Recommendation / News Opera browser

It is especially important to add two of the most popular Ukrainian-gaming site:
        http://www.opengamer.com.ua
        http://www.playua.net

It’s all for the Ukrainian version of the browser. Since in English, Russian and other versions of the game section is present. I have half a year ask to correct this deficiency.

Please do not post the same comment lots of times. It’s annoying and won’t help get your suggestion implemented.

            ะพะบ(

  • Dark Magician

I changed Opera to run as admin, just to make sure.
And I still get Out of memory for example to go to this page from bookmarks, refresh solves it.

  • Deonte

Bandcamp nor soundcloud work for me, vines for that matter either. Youtube works fine including embedded videos. Any suggestions? I’m using PPAPI flash beta, I’ve tried uninstalling flash and reinstalling and other fixes, but nothing has worked.

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

Can you describe what kind of error you get? Can you send screen shot for example? What operating system are you using?

      • Deonte

Well for soundcloud, I click play and about 5 seconds later I get “error trying to play this track” with bandcamp it’s just a continuous load. Youtube works fine, embedded videos that aren’t vines, work fine as well. I’m using windows 7 Home Premium Service pack one.

I’ve tried every suggestion, disabling Opera Turbo, uninstalling and reinstalling Flash, opening a new window with no extensions, still the same thing. These sites work on my other browsers, but not sure why here. Oh by the way, I went to pitchfork to play an embedded track from Soundcloud and it worked. I go to the actual site, nothing. Very strange.

Hi, thanks, I’ve passed this to discover team now.

  • pacorramos

Any fix to the DPI issue discussed in https://forums.opera.com/discussion/comment/15220776#Comment_15220776 and https://forums.opera.com/discussion/comment/15220775#Comment_15220775?
Any fix via settings or flags would be very appreciated.

Speed Dial, which is central to my use of Opera, remains of limited vakye because thumbnail size and hence number of thumbnails per row is tied to alt-high-dpi setting.

Print remains of limited use because no within-Opera print scaling, hence no viewable scaled preview. It’s rare that I print anything at 100%; most of my printing is in the 64%-85% range.

    • BK

Hi, what would you expect from SD then?

      • sgrandin

To be able to choose the number of columns either directly or via scaling and have it actually be that number of columns. I have six columns chosen for max right now, but it’s never gotten past five. With a little experimentation, I found the only adjustment was via an alt-high-dpi setting. Then there’s the large size of the thumbnails, which means much more vertical space is taken up than necessary, hence rows that should be visible aren’t.

        Here’s a screenshot of the most I can get with max=7 and alt-high-dpi=96 (~100% zoom): http://i61.tinypic.com/288tro1.jpg

For the company that created and still nominally supports the Speed Dial of Opera 12, I don’t understand why do you even have to ask.

        • Gloriam

I think most of the original developers that worked on Opera 12 and before are no longer with the company, some have gone to Vivaldi.

Have to agree that the current Speed Dial is but a shell of it’s former (Opera 12) self, but still works better than any other browser, which is quite sad. ๐Ÿ˜›

Hi, please have a look here.

          • sgrandin

Thanks for that link. Where is that documented (why not on the Settings page)? As it is, the max columns settings appears irrelevant.

OTOH, I’m not seeing the way to scale thumbnail size, e.g., use tile_height and tile_width. With the columns = 6, I’m seeing only five + a fraction rows vs. 11 rows with O12 (24″, 1920×1200, 115%).

To me, SD is at the core of Opera functionality. That’s why the ability to adjust it for personal preference should be readily available.

Now, how about scalable printing and tab placement option (bottom preferred here)?

  • Trying to get the tv channels to work on a page called Magine.com, but it is not working. The picture is now showing only a black square and the Magine logo in it. I think thay use silverlight. Anyone else have this problem or a work around?
It seams like Opera is not supported by swedish Netflix. Have looked through there support pages and did not find anything about Opera. A little work around to be able to watch Netflix on Opera is to have Silverlight installed. Hope Opera is telling Netflix to support Opera and HTML5 for Opera!
Opera Beta (this version), Windows 7 64-bit

    • BK

Please check developer stream for netflix support.

      • Thank you for your answer. Yes it was posted after i posted my post. Really nice!

  • Jan

Opera Beta crashes here when trying to open a new private window. Opera freezes to white and when it crashes.

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

      Which platform are you using?

      • Jan

        I am on “Windows 7 64-bit (WoW64)”

I figured out that it crashes when some side bar extension are enabled. It crashes when either “Site Settings SIdebar”, “V7 Bookmarks” or “V7 Notes” are enabled.

        • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

Thank you for your reply Jan. We’ll investigate this.

  • Sidney Moraes

You should change the icon of Opera beto to white like Opera beta for Android.

  • sgrandin

For the past week or two, with 30b-31b, when I open Opera – Yahoo home page – I get an out of memory message. Reloading the page solves it, but I never saw this before O30b.

    • Kornelia Mielczarczyk

      Hi, what’s your operating system?

      • sgrandin

        Win 8.1 x64 Pro, 16gb RAM

        • BK

Can you try on clean USB installation? Do you use some extensions? I’ve same OS, don’t see any crashes.

  • So when Opera Beta gets to version 32, which should have password sync, will Opera beta for Android also have password sync? This is the only thing keeping me from switching from Chrome.

  • YiZuX

anyone know how I can watch netflix on this version on Linux x64
    HELP ME PLEASE!!!

  • sgrandin

In addition to opening sometimes “out of memory,” these latest couple of versions have been opening with AdBlock extension actually or effectively disabled. While I’ve been exchanging messages with AdBlock about it, I have to wonder if it’s Opera caused. “Actually” means the extension has literally been disabled between sessions and has to be enabled. “Effectively” means it opens, say, the Yahoo home page with a big banner ad on top, as if AdBlock is not enabled, although nominally it is – icon up top. However, the context menu for the ad, as well as the page, are the Flash Player one, as if neither the extension or anything else is loaded. It all corrects itself upon reloading the page. As for the possibility of anti-malware, I have Comodo and MBAM running, and run two full scans a week, along with a monthly ESET online scanner run. Plus, this is something I never see with O12.17, IE11 or FF. So I have to ask: could it be Opera webkit related?
