A small update to Opera 27 on our development stream, so you have something new for the weekend. Some interesting improvements include making the Windows installer DPI aware (so looks great on HiDPI systems), further sync and tab menu improvements, a fix to the issue with the minimize button on Windows XP/Classic and the swipe animation now looks sharper on Mac.

As always thanks for testing and feedback.

Hi Ruarí, thanks for the update 😉

  • You forgot to change the date in changelog, Ruarí 😉

    • No I didn’t. I put out the changelog yesterday. 😉

      • I know. I read it yesterday. But since blog post and build appeared today I thought you probably intended to make them in line with each other 😉

      • i was actually going to put out this release yesterday … but … ssshh … don’t tell anyone!

  • _artem_

new build is always good :))

    • A. R.

      Indeed(!)

The truth does not need !
      – Said a dude from the internet

  • scam

Looks like you develop Opera for your own needs mostly. A lot of references to HiDPI etc. rare things in changelogs 🙂

    • Marcin Mitek

Ah, yeah, cause we all have HiDPI screens here. /s

      • Veger

        You have? NIce! 😀

        • Marcin Mitek

I wish 😉 Most of us has pretty standard 1080p screens, no magic.

          • A lot of the Linux team have HiDPI setups, which is why Opera for Linux’s HiDPI support is better than every other Linux browser. 😉

          • Frenzie

Do you happen to have any tips or useful links about this kind of thing? Although 16:9 is as stupid as ever, almost adequate DPI (as I prefer to call UHD on 24″-27″) is becoming ever more tempting as prices are dropping. I figure that font and icon size are pretty elastic but I haven’t properly investigated it yet or anything. Would you also have to add certain settings in X.org? Or in other words, what do you need to do in the OS to let Opera take care of it automagically?

As an aside, anything with MST *couch*Dell Ultrasharp UP2414Q*cough* sounds annoying. SST for the win. m/

          • If you use a DE like Gnome or Unity, no special messing with X.org and Opera will just pick up the settings from the DE.

          • Frenzie

I’m not a fan of those. I’ve settled on Xfce for the moment. I take it that the DPI is set automatically based on the DDC DisplaySize or something?

          • I have not tested HiDPI under Xfce but have heard their support is still kinda flaky. I would be interested to here differently.

          • Frenzie

Well, if the Dell Ultrasharp UP2414Q supported SST and weren’t known for having a bad logic board I’d tell you in a few days. But I’ll probably be all over second-gen at hopefully slightly lower prices within a few months. Maybe around my birthday in February the UHD monitors will be in a better state…

Btw, I was looking at some 28 inch models too, although I’d prefer a slightly smaller physical size and higher DPI, only to find that e.g. the Samsung 28D590D does not have a VESA mount. It’s probably awful in other ways as well, but seriously?! Who even comes up with monitors without a VESA mount. x.x

          • In Unity for example go into settings for Displays and set UI scale to your value of choice. When you start Opera it will pick up this value.

          • Frenzie

That sounds nice. Pity I don’t like Unity. 🙂

        • A. R.

          indeed

      • A. R.

shame on you, shame on you

    • AFX

And this is a good thing, currently Opera is a best looking browser for my hdpi laptop.

  • Ralf Brinkmann

The problem with Java is unsolved. If I have both Java versions installed, 32 and 64 bit, then Opera does not recognize the Java plugin and I receive an error message, if I try to open a page, that requires Java. If I have only 32 bit installed everything is ok. I need both version because of Google Chrome 64 bit, which can not work with the 32 bit version of Java.

  • Vux777

I have chrome stable and canary on win10, but Opera (usb) only recognized NPAPI plugin

    • Ralf Brinkmann

Do you explicitly have installed the PPAPI plugin?

      • Vux777

no, but Opera should recognize Chrome ppapi…
        or not ?

        • Ralf Brinkmann

          No.

          • Vux777

            well that’s new…
couple of versions before, devs were talking how ppapi will work only if Chrome is installed on system (flash was in version 14 back then)…

          • Ralf Brinkmann

You should download and install it from http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer.html and then go to opera:plugins to see, if the plugin is recognized.

          • Vux777

            yea, it’s recognized now
            thx

  • Dave-H

Again no progress report while updating, went straight from “checking for updates” to “restart Opera…”
Pleased to find that the minimise button is now working again!
I’m still not seeing any option to import data from Presto Opera versions.

    • Sidney Moraes

Maybe that happened because download was done earlier.

      • Dave-H

        Yes, that’s possible.
That has happened once before, the time before last, that there was no download progress indicated, but last time it was normal again.
The progress is usually very fast, but I do still see it counting up the percentage downloaded. If this one was over 4 MB I would have expected to see it happen, if only for a second or so.

    • Leonardo Gomes

Probably the download was too fast that the download progress even had time to show up. 🙂

      • Marcin Mitek

Remember, that it’s a delta update, so diff package was slightly above 4 megabytes.

  • Sidney Moraes

Add to speed dial for bookmarks folder does not work in Stable too.

  • Leonardo Gomes

    New flags:

    Extension sessions API
    Mac, Windows, Linux
    Enables the extension sessions APIs.
    #extension-sessions-api

    Mac, Windows
Warns the user via system notifications that an update of Adobe Flash Player to the Pepper version is available.
    #warn-flash-update-needed

    • Zik

      As always thanks.

    • Ralf Brinkmann

The Flash Player warning is very useful, if it works. Thanks. Activated.

      • Wando Schneider

        It works. 🙂

        • Ralf Brinkmann

Good to hear. I could not test it yet, because I already have the newest version installed.

          • Wando Schneider

Yes. This feature was designed for users like me, that still uses Flash 12. haahhahaahah 😛

          • A. R.

USe Flash 5. Pepper flash or whatever is a virus it’s spelled like i die-rus and it will be your future children of eart sacrifice to isis.

      • A. R.

Yes the could be a quick setting setup at first launch right?

    • Vux777

is Extension sessions API chrome.sessions or…?

      • Leonardo Gomes

        Don’t know.

      • Vux777

can some of the devs tellsomething about this api?

    • A. R.

      Thanks Leonardo.

  • Sidney Guioy

Since last build, adress bar is broken, i thought ” DNA-28725 Search does not work in the address field after the update” would fix it but looks like not.
By broken, i mean when you start opera it’s empty(with “enter search or web adress” written) not auto complete, nothing happen on enter, the field is not updated if either you load a page from speeddial or change tab

Also, right click on it => edit search engine crash opera 100% of the time (auto report sent )
    Win 8.1 x64

    • Did you by chance activate “experimental address bar”-flag…?

      • Sidney Guioy

Ah it was activated, but i don’t remember having turned it on ‘-‘
        Thanks ! 🙂

  • rafael

is there going to be a version of opera for linux packaged as .rpm? Love the browser, would love even more to have it…

    • Maybe, we’ll see. In the mean time. You can install on any, modern 64-Bit distro:

      git clone https://gist.github.com/ace4fb780216aa28d922.git
      sudo sh ace4fb780216aa28d922/install-opera.sh -d

If your distro does not use sudo, switch to root

This will fetch and install the latest Opera developer (and setup an uninstall script).

Reissue the command again next time we release an update. More information here.

      • rafael

awesome… and fast! Thank you very much! opera is installed, doesn’t work though. maybe i should file a bug report

        • rafael

(it starts, but doesn’t react to key or mouse)

          • Can you tell me more about your setup. Distro, distro version. Anything special about keyboard or mouse setup?

          • rafael

A very fresh install of the fedora 21 Workstation Beta. On first start, opera hung and i quit it with xkill. But now it works really well. No touch support like in ubuntu, and touch is interpreted as hover when running opera in X11. I am posting this from the same system but with opera running fine under wayland!

          • Ok, thanks foe the feedback!!

          • You don’t have to friend him, but “foe”? 😛

          • LOL, I won’t bother correcting

          • rafael

            😀 nonono lol 😀

          • I have nothing against you, I promise! 😉

          • rafael

Nice to hear. By the way 2 more things. First the bad: Opera starts always with 3 seconds of pitchblack window. Second the good news: touch scrolling works really good when selecting “async-touchmove” in the settings

          • well we have done zero testing of Wayland, so I am surprised it works that well.

          • rafael

thats under x11, sorry, didnt mention that.

          • L33t4opera

            Enemy Mine” 😉

        • What distro and distro version are you running? If you are unsure, give me the output of this:

          grep "^(NAME|VERSION)=" /etc/os-release | cut -d= -f2

      • > Maybe, we’ll see. In the mean time, you can still install on any, modern 64-Bit distro

I dont think so, may be you call Debian 7.7 x64 not a modern one. 😉

Installing does not work with Debian 7.7 and deb package. libc6 is 2.13 and Opera needs >2.15.

        • Yeah Debian libs are a bit old but Debian users would already have worked out they couldn’t run this from trying the deb package directly.

But recent versions of Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenSUSE, Slackware, Gentoo, Arch, etc. have all been tested and work.

          • Well, i have to update to Debian Testing for Beta testing Opera.

I hope there will be a version of Opera Stable for Debian 7 Wheezy?
In some companies users dont want to have a instable, patched OS with testing packages.

  • Michael Maier

Folders in the new speeddial are still too dark. Entries can hardly be seen.

    • graycivil

      Confirmed.

  • João Gonçalves

Just to report that when I scroll in Facebook, all the top, right and bottom bars jump up and down one pixel. In fact, this happens with all the sites that have top or bottom bars.

  • Mister

Please add a feature so you can drag links from the address bar up without restrictions. and where do come from these restrictions? in chromium no such “bug”. this is a very important part of the browser, because I can’t throw links with the bar, I every time have to aim. it’s terribly annoying. see the picture: http://s017.radikal.ru/i419/1411/80/1ce86ac49964.png

  • RX-3200

    DNA-29191 still here (not fixed)
it work fine at last in Opera 26.0.1655.0
    please fix DNA-29191

  • Chris

is there a way to backup my speed dial on developer 27? since the sync doesn’t do that i would like to back it up.

  • dflyra

New speed-dial continues to be indistinguishable & dark as hell. Only the tags show. Is it normal or is it a bug that has been reported and waits in line to be fixed?

    • Leonardo Gomes

      Probably a bug.

    • There have been no changes to the SpeedDial experiment. It’s only been a week, what do you expect? 😉

      • dflyra

Since Opera developer v. 27.0.1670.0 (and continuing now with this version 27.0.1676.0) the appearance of the new speed-dial is awful.
        New speed-dial in beta http://s27.postimg.org/chzzgd9xb/beta.jpg
        New speed-dial in developer http://s27.postimg.org/5di67c2nz/developer.jpg
What do you think of that?

        • I agree completely, it’s really bad, but the builds are hardly a week apart. We have a solution and we are working on it.

          • dflyra

It’s very good to hear that you have, or working on, a solution. In fact, as I’ve noticed before, you are always reacting to outside stimuli. I just wanted to be sure that it is reported as a bug and not a new perverted way of speed-dial appearance. Thanks for the response!

    • Kamen Minkov

Looks like it is work in progress. Many people complained that auto-generated thumbs for the same domain can be indistinguishable, so this looks like permanent hover state for some thumbs as a temporary workaround they did.

  • AFX

    DNA-22033 bug is still there

    • Leonardo Gomes

      And this bug is about….?

  • Zin

While Opera doesnt recover its lost features this one is surely promising and getting them back step by step https://github.com/Emdek/otter

  • Pepperplugin with Opera DEV on Ubuntu 14.04 does not play any video.

  • Piotr Karol Żółtowski

    Still no new functions 🙂

    • A. R.

Sync is big, and i like the name change from Link to Sync as people will recognize it as the common ‘sync’.

  • SQL

Receiving huge framedrops on some youtube videos like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYGj2P-cv-w&list=UUg2Ba-ZPaID8OhE8JuBdYig

I’m using the HTML5 player and that video appears to be VP9.

    Here’s a picture of it, i mean – isn’t it kind of huge? https://i.imgur.com/uoQKsiX.png

Has anyone else experienced this lately?

    • icetom

many users reported youtube, html5 and flash issues over the last weeks.
I also got stuttering videos, no matter if i use npapi or ppapi.
in IE11 everything is smooth, even on 60fps.

Opera is very cpu consuming with videos

  • pureocean

Thanks for fixes. But still can’t working/fixing “Add to Speed Dial” and “Delete” in context menu if bookmarks as multi-selected on the Bookmark Manager.

  • Vorpal

Web notifications is not properly works on my Opera Dev. Icon is not displayed. It’s about native notifications on Win 8.1.

    • Yeap. That’s a known issue.

      • Vorpal

Ok. I don’t knew it, and making a notifications for my site couple of days ago spent some time trying to understand what I do wrong.
Thanks anyway. It is good if this issue is already known.

        • Mikolaj Boc

Hey Vorpal, we’ve already fixed this and the fix will be available in the next developer release 🙂

  • Marc

The tab preview doesn’t show anymore on hover. I have it enabled in the flags (#tab-preview). What am I doing wrong?
Plus: Still hoping for tab stacking 🙂

    • It got disabled by default as it was disturbing for quite some users (result of Opera’s latest poll).
You need to re-enable it in settings 😉

      • Marc

Oh okay, that’s too bad. I think this is a very useful feature. The only suggestion I have, is to make the delay a few milliseconds faster. Anyway, thanks for reminding me of the settings, somehow I completely forgot about those.

        • You can adjust that delay. It’s a power user setting 😉

          • Marc

HA! Found ’em. I learn something new everyday!

          • A. R.

            ooh, power user mentioned !!!111

      • A. R.

shame on you, shame on you

        • Shame on me?
          1. I’m not working for Opera
          2. It’s the result of a USER POLL ^^

    • Ralf Brinkmann

And have you enabled it in the settings too?

    • A. R.

They force disabled it for everyone.

      Can you imagine?

  • RX-3200

please make temporary db file for tab previews pictures …
tab_hover – is not the reason to unsuspend tabs processes,
it’s only the reason to show tab preview

  • Because a heart and Microsoft windows ?.

    http://i60.tinypic.com/qs83d0.jpg

    • Ralf Brinkmann

      What does this sentence mean?

    • The heart has ben introduced as symbol for the favored bookrmarks in new Opera.

Or do you think the symbol for unsorted bookmarks (looks like a bunch of post-its) is not correct?

  • A click on the red balloon near my Loginname of blog comments here (is the link https://disqus.com/home/inbox ) shows empty gray inbox.
Click on “View at Disqus shows “Unsupported browser” and a white page.
Closing the gray Disqus Overlay freezes teh current Opera tab.

  • Will there be a 32bit i386 version of Opera on Linux?

Some have Netbooks with such hardware.

    • Will there be a 32bit i386 version of Opera on Linux?

Its possible but not in the short term

Some have Netbooks with such hardware.

Modern/recent netbooks? Anything from the last 5 years or so? Do you have examples? This is a genuine question.

      • OK, MSI U110 is from 2009. Has only 32bit Linux. Not modern enough?
        Sad.

Yes, you are true, current Netbooks have all 64bit CPUs. So old fashioned 32bit may be obsolete for Opera to develop in near future.

        • Just to be clear I am not saying there will never be 32-Bit (it is still to be decided) but it is not currently the top priority. We’d like to focus our resources on getting a stable 64-Bit version out first. This will benefit the majority of our users.

          • Thanks for the reply.
I can understand and agree the fact that 64bit and Stable for Linux has first prio. That is ok. 🙂

My fear was: Opera cuts support for older 32bit Linux.

      • Eric83

Although it’s not my main computer, I frequently use a Dell Inspiron mini 10 with Ubuntu. I’d guess that I’ve had it for four or five years. With an older Atom processor, it will accept only 32-bit instructions.

Recent 32-bit versions of Firefox, Chrome and Chromium work fine on it, as does Opera 12.16, and I’d be disappointed if I couldn’t eventually add the new Opera to the mix.

  • foff

Constantly shows Page Crashed on LinkedIn, for many builds already. It just loads the page (=I can see it) and then shows the Page Crashed thing.

And other than this, guys, are you aware it’s 2014? Who gives a flying crap about bookmarks and their syncronisation? I love how it seems you know nothing other than this aspect of browsers/browsing….

    • ahoj1234

go ahead and tell us some great new aspect of browsing 🙂

    • Leonardo Gomes

      Linkedin is working fine here.

  • Jason Coplen

The font face HTML command is not being respected by Opera dev.

    • Wrong. It works with HTML element and CSS.

      Try it on http://jsfiddle.net/kh3L7zzs/

      • Jason Coplen

http://hyperchat.com It’s one of the last html chats out there. From the login page and inside the fonts aren’t rendering quite right. I’m not seeing the Morpheus font used by Marcus Smith in there. It works fine in Chrome.

It works fine in Linux (Elementary OS Freya), but in Windows 10 it doesn’t render correctly.

        • That may be a problem of DirectWrite in Windows version of Opera.

          • Jason Coplen

            Thanks. That worked!

  • Mike

It is expected to soon yield a 64-bit version of Opera developer?

    • Leonardo Gomes

I don’t think so, but things can always change.

  • Leo Liu

This problem still exists on Linux beta and developer version.

DNA-26380 Window size not remembered with startup setting “Open start page”

It will happen both in “Open the start page” and “Open a specific page or set of pages”.

  • A. R.

O30 will be a major flagship and milestone for Opera.

Let’s all hope that by the time of O30, we would have an awesome browser with Opera a major experience like we have with Opera before too.

It’s either make it or brake it. Good luck Opera.

May lot’s of features be with us.

    • Lacedaemon

      30? Why?

Besides, according to Opera’s CEO, with O25 they brought back all the features Opera Presto had.

      • A. R.

        O25? Really?? Huh…

        • Lacedaemon

yes… go to 26:53 here and listen for yourself http://www.operasoftware.com/company/investors/webcasts/q32014

          • A. R.

Well is that a joke? Because obviously they are lying.

          • A. R.

wtf we only have =15 + bookmarks. They are lying to shareholders, O25 does not in any way qualify as O12. Never – it seems by the team Opera.

  • Ralf Brinkmann

What I still miss is the possibility to delete all cookies (and other local website data) exept the ones in the list of exceptions. I can either delete all cookies (including the allowed ones) or I have to close Opera and start it again. As far as I remember in Opera 12.x I had the opportunity to delete only the unwanted cookies without closing Opera.

  • Farhan Rashid

How can I get rid of these process?
    http://prntscr.com/54m0v7
they always come back even if I kill them. is there any way that they dont even start? thanks 🙂

    • Lacedaemon

About bookmarks you can either go to opera://flags and disable Bookmarks or put –with-feature:bookmarks=0 in the target of the shortcut. I don’t think you can get rid of Speed Dial though.

      • Vux777

none of those solutions will work in latest build (at least on win7)
only flag about bookmarks is “sharing”, and command line switch doesn’t work

        • Lacedaemon

In latest you say? hmmm then I don’t have any other clue.

      • Farhan Rashid

I tried your specified switch –with-feature:bookmarks=0 but it didnt work, and I cant see how to disable Bookmarks in flags, there is
Bookmarks sharing which I already disabled

        • Lacedaemon

ehm yes that’s what Vux777 said, I don’t have the latest build, I based that on the previous one.

  • Azyrion

Am I the only person who can’t get silverlight working on opera 27? The browser doesn’t seem to recognize the plugin it’s not even in the plugin list same with vlc plugin.

    • Ralf Brinkmann

Yes, I see the same problem with silverlight. It works with Google Chrome and Firefox. I think Opera has some more problems with plugins. W7x64.

      • Azyrion

well opera stable is able to play silverlight videos just fine

        • Lacedaemon

          in 64-bit?

          • Leonardo Gomes

The problem is (or seems to be) with 32 bits plugins.

          • Lacedaemon

yes, I’m asking him if he is sure that it works on Stable on a 64-bit OS, since he responded to Ralf who said about W7x64

          • Leonardo Gomes

Yes, it works. It’s a bug in Chromium 40.

          • Azyrion

I’ve got win8.1 64bit and as far as I know silverlight always comes with both 32bit and 64bit on a 64bit os. So yeah all my other browsers (firefox, i-explorer and opera stable all in 32bit) are working fine. But as others said it’s a chromium issue so we have to wait till they fix it there

    • Leonardo Gomes

      Chromium issue: https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=428549

      It’s being tracked as DNA-29410.

      • Azyrion

Thank you, now I know at least that I (or my pc) am not at fault

  • Izer0

Still no news about DNA-28034 – Process is not closed when tab is closed, number of unused process and memory grow rapidly?

    • Leonardo Gomes

Here if i close a tab, its process closes too.

  • PaulW

Still can’t open a PDF from this site. I see the progress bar but that’s it. Using Foxit Reader . http://help.spark.co.nz/euf/assets/tnz/modem/huawei_hg630b/Huawei_HG630_QSG.pdf

    • Internal PDF viewer works for me.
Foxit is a plugin. So you should complain to its developers, not to Opera.

      • PaulW

It’s kind of strange then that every other browser that I have works fine. IE, Opera 12.17, FireFox developer, Chrome. All these open PDFs fine from links. I sort of sorted it by installing the plugin PDF JS. The only one I can’t open now is my telco bill and I suspect my power company one as well as they both seems to use the same system but I can still use O12.17 for these.

        • A. R.

mime types completely are missing from Opera, yet they say the browser is ready… Go figure ~

  • mozzer

Where Opera button menu in Linux version?

    I’m waiting for tab stacking…

    • It won’t be present if you run Opera under Unity as we prefer Unity integration.

      • mozzer

Ok, but mayby you’ll finally start to listen to us and give users the choice, what they prefer?

        • If you want the Opera menu start it with the following switch –show-opera-menu.

    • You can get the Opera menue by hitting Alt.

You want click the fat Opera button instead of having more space in Opera User Interface?

      • mozzer

        Yes.

  • Wraith

Opera for Windows and Mac looks very beutiful but for Linux (elementaryOS) look ugly, is there a way to disable or hide the Title bar in Linux ?, Chrome has an option and Firefox has an addon but Opera lacks from both solutions.

  • Pedro_Pdr

This opera version looks so gorgeous in my ubuntu 14.10!! And works so well =)
One thing i dont like too much is that the web adress (site url) uses a font too big for me.. Personally i dont like. Any way to change font on that?
Its not that too big but is not consisntent with all of the rest in opera like font in tabs.

    Here is a screenshot

Loving this opera keep up good work =)

    • is that the web adress (site url) uses a font too big for me.. Personally i dont like. Any way to change font on that?

      Currently no chance to change.

      • Pedro_Pdr

        Thank you 😉

  • Lars

cannot load http://www.dr.dk/radio/live/p1/ – this is not a regression from previous builds but has not been possible in the last series of developer builds

    • Ralf Brinkmann

Loads here at once and very fast. With sound and everything. Is there something blocking in your system? Have you tried out to switch all your extensions off and then switch it on again one by one? Maybe any security software? Here W7x64, USB installation, Adblock, Ghostery, Hostsman.

    • Webpage loads fine and webradio plays on Windows 7 x64

  • Lars

https://mightytext.net/web7/ causes page to close. This is a regression from previous builds

    • Webpage loads and redirects to Goole Login page.

  • BlB

I have some problem under Lubuntu 14.04.1 which at the moment can’t account neither with Opera dev or with add-ons.

    After Opera starting it freezes..????

Can someone tell/guide me how to delete my Opera profile to find where is the problem?

    • Can someone tell/guide me how to delete my Opera profile to find where is the problem?

      Yes:

      rm -fr ~/.config/opera-developer

      rm -fr ~/.cache/opera-developer

      • BlB

Thanks man but unfortunatelly the first line (rm -fr ~/.config/opera-developer) doesn’t work. So the result at whole is negative..

Do you have other idea? As I told you I use Lubuntu 14.04.1

        • Hihi, you mean: Mam 😉 says the dragoness.

find -name opera-developer -type d | xargs rm -ir

  • john

new address bar flag! Waht is tt?

    • Leonardo Gomes

Something that isn’t working right now and probably will only causes crashes malfunction and so on.

  • Konstantin Paramonov

Opera’s task manager says that new tabs sneak into the Internet even with switched off syncing, bookmarks, stats and crash reports. What are they doing?

    • A. R.

interesting question, and should be addressed.

  • Extension Accessibility Developer Tools does not work

  • taneli

The “Press Ctrl+F and something else than search happens” bug is still there, and even more frequent than ever, have had it 4 times today.
Press Ctrl+F on a page, and something totally else happens, it changes zoom, or changes tab, changing the tab has been the most frequent occurance, but sometimes the zoom changes too, to 200% usually.

    • Ralf Brinkmann

Sounds like a virus or another malware.

      • taneli

It’s not, it’s just a bug when you press Ctrl+F, other users have reported it too.
Why would a virus just randomly change the tab when you press Ctrl+F anyways, or change the zoom o.O

        • taneli

This has been going on from O15, i’m just here reminding them.

        • Ralf Brinkmann

Other users? Where? You are the first one I’m reading. I have never had this problem.

          • taneli

I have mentioned this a few times before here on the developer blogs, and have got many replies from others having the same thing happening.
Understandable if you have missed some since this Disqus thing isn’t really ideal.

          • For example I was one of them.

The problem is absolutely not new, I’ve met with it first time in O16 or O17.

          • Ralf Brinkmann

            Oh Brutus… 🙂

    • Yes i have this problem sometimes. Ctrl F changes zoom instead of opening search field.
      Seems to be a bug.

  • pureocean

Opera partially freeze and high CPU usage using when loading this site:

    http://www.groovypost.com/howto/howto/reset-windows-7-vista-xp-password-usb-flash-drive-netbook/

But, no same issue in MxNitro and Chrome 31.

    My OS: NT5.2, 32bit

    • Ralf Brinkmann

      Not here. W7x64.

  • taneli

Browser still dies completely, if there is high’ish CPU usage (rendering 3D, rendering videos, heavy simulations), other browsers, and O21 still can cope with this.

  • taneli

Zooming pages is still domain based, not page based.
    1) open up a gallery with random images with random resolutions to compare them
    2) zoom one so you can see the details you want
    3) open up another image
    4) zoom it to see the details you want
    5) everything’s already fucked up, the zoom levels of the page where you opened the last image, the zoom level of the first image, gah.

    • Steve Neas

This problem also frustrates me on a regular basis. I want to keep an eye on the weather today, with one page zoomed in on a temp/pressure graph and another page with a radar map zoomed out. These pages happen to be on the same domain, so Opera 26 won’t allow it. I end up using Opera 12 today.

  • said_what

Dear Opera, I absolutely love what you are doing with Opera 26 beta. In a way I feel this the Chrome we should have had. That saying please don’t take away features from Opera for simplicity sake. Sometimes simplicity means frustration and this trend to dumb down software is alarming for me. How can one submit feature requests to Opera that will be considered? I would really love to be able to quickly log into my google and microsoft account for app usage. It would also be awesome if Opera can implement a possibility to run android apps. Something which some people already do with Chrome.

After importing everything (except sessions) from Opera 12.17, Opera Dev 27 crashes instantly when opening bookmarks…
    Anyone else?

    Win 7 x64 SP1
    Opera 12.17
    Opera 27.0.1670.0

Before I started the import, I already had some bookmarks / speeddials in Opera Dev 27.

    • Ralf Brinkmann

Yes, this is known meanwhile. Don’t install the grey theme, use another one (opera://themes/).

      • Irontiger

Ok, thanks for the quick answer!

What about this flash player warning? I didn’t have one this morning, although there have been updates for all versions. I closed and restarted Opera – nothing. “opera://about/” said the same as usual: “When checking for updates an error has occurred”. Did anybody have an update information in Opera?
    W7x64, USB installation.

    • I’ve seen the same notification, clicked on it and updated Flash. Later it turned out that this update was from 15.0.0.215 to 15.0.0.215 …

I think Opera Software should get an agreement with Adobe for bundle-free update links. Or for non-browser bundle link. Or at least for an opt-in browser bundle link. It’s very weird that Opera displays a notification about a Flash update, I click on the notification, and Adobe offers me to download Flash with Chrome as opt-out bundle …

New update – Opera developer: 27.0.1683.0, the change log:
    – “DNA-8742 Bookmarks suggestions in Address Bar Dropdown”
    – “DNA-28822 Implement Visual Part of MultiDrag”
    – “DNA-29238 Support Select All and Batch Delete”
    – “DNA-29239 Commit Multidrag Operations”
    Very nice! Opera’s Developers 😉
    The official announcement.

    • Ralf Brinkmann

      Ok, you won. 🙂

    • Ralf Brinkmann

The Java problem is still there. More in the upcoming blog.

It would be nice to have the possibility to bookmark the open PDF file. As far as I know, the only thing you do is to bookmark the URL link that points to the PDF. It’s quite cumbersome way and you cannot chose into which file the URL link will be bookmarked.
